  1. So…..how long will it be before sumdy makes a list of, who donated what and, who didny donate?…..a wee while back…on here…sumdy posted a list of – who had donated and, who hadn’t???…sumdy made a stand and pointed out…rightly…that they would not be embarrassed into donating…..this all begs the question as to, ‘what’ is the actual driving force behind ‘most’ of CQN’s donating types?….benevolence?…..point-scoring?…what?…make no mistake here…CQN has some charitable-ethos within it’s structures but,….’cheap’ imitators…seeking their name in neon-lights with the accompanying-halo….take off some of the gloss….imho

No doubt…the above point will be twisted into some attempt at cheap-trolling by some nose-out-of-joint-nitpicker…..

Sack The Boardroom Collusion…or, stay at the back of the bus.

    …..oot.

This is nothing more than an attempt at cheap trolling.

On the CelticFC site, there is an option to Change Details.

If you already have an account, pretty simple. If not, you will click on Create Account and away you go.

I will not be embarrassed into not making a list. Who would like to join my list of those who will not be embarrassed into not making a list?

Some people have the motivation to make a real effort to change things whilst others post their frustrations/objections/annoyances but do not do anything concrete. Mainly, I belong to the latter but I would be very happy if one of the actual doers organised a fans group to show our feelings about Saturday football no longer being the norm. Indeed, for Celtic supporters, it is a rarity.

If this is some kind of attempt to con those of us who object to those who won’t be embarrassed into making a list making a list of those of us who want to make a list then you’ve failed, pal.

Celtic is a broad church, those who populate it are a very diverse bunch. They each have their own thoughts and their own opinions and their own ways.

If a person is going to donate to charity and boast about it, so be it, he is not a humble person but he is a generous person. At least that person made an effort to make a difference and in talking about it he may inspire others to emulate him.

    Tolerance is a virtue.

I’ve taken my stand against those who populate the Celtic boardroom but I don’t beat the drum for others to follow my way, though you’d be amazed by the number of private e-mails I receive from individuals who not only agree with my stance but tell me they too are being driven to take similar action.

  10. KevJ –

    I agree with you.

As soon as the recent raffle weblink was posted by Winning Captains, the blog was inundated with comment after comment along the lines of “Tickets bought.”

Why do people feel the need to instantly publicise their generosity? Why can’t they just do it and leave it at that?

The same goes for the constant back-slapping about “how wonderful” the Celtic support or CQN is for their charitable ethos.

Of course I felt a sense of pride as I approached Celtic Park last night, but it is a private thought and a personal feeling that does not need to be manifested on CQN about how fantastic we are.

We are not the only football supporters who donate to charity. We seem to be the only ones who like to shout it from the rooftops.

Thanks for finding, and sharing your two posts.

Uplifting on such a sad day,

  15. Sincere sympathy to the parents & family of Karen, the work & effort of Police Scotland, is deeply appreciated over here.

I must admit I did read Kev’s post re the Charity thing, he is possibly right that there is a little bit of peer pressure involved in people responding to various appeals but so what.

The main thing is that worthy Charities are supported. Long may that continue.

Good point, mate. I was guilty of that on this occasion (in my defence,I was pointing out that STRIPE was the first payment method in ages not to ask me for a password I didn’t have. I thought this might be useful for others who frequently have a similar problem)

    Still guilty as charged,mind!

How do you know other football supporters donate to charity if they don’t mention it? :-))

Only jesting. I don’t see too many people patting themselves on the back – usually comments supporting others for their efforts. In my view it’s important to highlight the success of events liek this – it encourages people to do more of it.

  18. 67Heaven .. CHALLENGING THE LIE ..I am wee Oscar...... Ipox belongs to the creditors on

Someone said earlier that food banks in modern-day Britain is a disgrace……it most certainly is …. but, when politicians are too busy collecting their expenses to actually do anything about it, ordinary people will never stand by and watch their fellow human beings suffer …HH

I don’t spend enough time on other supporters forums to fully comment. do you?

I do make the occasional trip to RM. When they did lots of fundraising for the Erskine Hospice there was a thread dedicated to it.

So I’d say on that basis alone your assertion is wrong.

I personally don’t shout about money or items I donate to charity but I don’t think it’s wrong to congratulate ourselves on what we achieve.

I did indeed and replied just before the game started last night but my mind was working on the wrong time difference, I will be able to watch the last game of the season in Atlanta at 07:30AM before boarding a flight to San Diego later that afternoon.

Still trying to work out how to get back for the cup final as arriving into Heathrow at 15:10 after it kicks off! Cant really leave the USA earlier, its a pain in the erchie but wont tempt fate by trying until after Sunday’s game!

Sanctimonious pish to belittle the Charitable efforts from posters on CQN

I bought tickets & I said I did on here theres was no way I was looking for anything else whatsover disgracefull comments from you

To infer that people like me who did post of there contribution were seeking attention you are way off the mark

  23. Tom

I have to disagree with the ‘Tickets Bought’ view.

As one of the people who told TBJ that his idea was a winner, I suppose I didn’t want people to think that I wouldn’t put my money where my mouth was. So it was maybe a way of avoiding embarrassment – certainly not boasting.

However, more importantly, if it’s for a good cause, people might think ‘Yes – I’ll donate to it’ and then forget by the time they get home or whatever. The ‘Tickets Bought’ posts act as a reminder and as a conscience jolt.

  24. There was much about NHS balck holes on R4 this morning. It does my head in. Put taxes up if more money is needed to protect it.

Work out what a 1% rise means in your monthly take home and consider whether you want that money or an NHS. If efficiency changes can be made without hurting services by all means do those too. It’ll make that 1% go further.

  25. Sad young life taken. Thoughts for Karen’s family who must be suffering right now. Rest in peace.
