Great performance spoiled by our usual error right at the death. Unlikely source but CCV just back and always that risk. We played as well as we can and really unlucky with Palma’s offside goal. But the harsh reality is we’re not at the level. We’ll probably finish a freakishly weak group without a point. We’ll never be at this level because our model is to sell our players as soon as they get to it. So we need to face that this is as good as it gets. Qualify if we can and be cannon fodder year in year out, even for relatively mediocre (by ECL standards) teams. Take,the money (and the beatings) and remain too good for Scottish football. Bit of a no mańs land really. Ah well.
Feel for the players who deserved more from the game, but you make those kinds of mistakes you lose at ECL level. And we always, always make them.

Couldn’t see us losing the game in the second half, Palma made a good impact, CCV made a bad one
But how often do we have to say you have to concentrate right to the final whistle even if we only get the draw. Could have been in the mix, ended up in the mixer
nobody’s fault but our own , we are not cute enough at this level , a draw and we are still in this ,now we are stuffed , no way the Italians where going to lose a goal in extra time , we have to wise up , we cant see the game out, trying to win costs us .

VAR is killing football as a sport. It is now a joyless action because you know every goal is subject to an overhaul.
You cannot fault the players for effort and commitment but they do not have the game intelligence or the skill to get these results over the line. Time and time again they blow it when they could get something. Our recruitment has hit a glass ceiling in my opinion. Good enough for Scotland. Nowhere near the needed level for this competition.
Europa is different because the level is different.

like I said earlier we need to up our gamesmanship to their level,if you get a tap on the ankle go down holding your head ,ref stops game ,make sure every time your fouled you scream like a wee lassie ref stops game, it’s not right ,but this is killing us in europe ,however FECK UEFA COYBIG

Some encouraging signs but ultimately shot ourselves in the foot again . European football post-Christmas has gone I’m afraid . Two CL group games which we should not have lost but did . Brendan needs another season of transfer windows and player development to get us where we need to be .
offside or not – why wasn’t it checked and the line shown to the fans??? They spotted maeda laces touch to Palma, the didn’t spot the punch on Hatate – sick of Uefa.
Overall we were ok, we have players like maeda and yang to flatter to deceive – falling over the ball , no composure.
Taylor is way out of depth at this level.
We are 2 windows away from being a Europe team – need more players to take care of the ball.
Scales, Mcgregor, O’riley , Palma and Bernard when he came on. Hatate was careless with ball when it mattered.
Decent display but we dont look like a flowing team – too many 10 year passes for me.

Our best centre half makes a mistake and we lose. If he’d had three or four games under his belt it wouldn’t happen. It’s a mistake and that’s cost us. Lazio didn’t lay a glove on us outside of that in the second half.
When the dust settles and the gut wrenching feeling dissipates, there’s alot to take from that game for this team.
I wouldn’t rule us out.

I take heart from how we played, We will not play 90 minutes without making mistakes but I thought we played really well and could, quite deservedly, have won.

It was checked very quickly. Well onside and took a matter of seconds.
We can compete at this level, the signs are there. for some strange reason we keep being able to shoot ourselfs in the foot.
We have shown we can assemble a half decent squad and we know where we need to improve, i always feel the now Europe is a shot to nothing, its experience for us in a transitional phase.
The league’s top priority this season.
I would have taken Saturdays results over this one 7 days a week, we know were up against it in Europe at this level. They keep saying disappointed, iam not, i saw a lot to be optimistic about.
We go again as we always do.
the bottom line is at this level we are not good enough , the best in Scotland win the league and take the prize money for qualifying for CL, rinse and repeat.
Terrible defending on 2 occasions 2 goals, 2 red cards for lazio not given and the fascists win, we don’t get any breaks in this.
You have to say we have no luck. Their first goal, everyone misses the ball then it hits one of our guys feet. It could have gone anywhere but it sat up for them to score. We need a bit of luck from somewhere.
