I thought they all put in a decent shift today, and I reckon you are right that they will be needed on wed.
A massive game for us, I think we will prevail, just got the feeling in the water.

I feel for Forrest he had such potential but seems so unsure of himself now.
Delia’s tenure has seen him go backward at an alarming rate.
The penalty is not what i;m basing this on as anyone can miss them.
He needs a coach to believe in him.
Moving to England is a gamble as he could easily end up like McGeady.
He should think about Europe or USA.
His career is at a crossroads.

Forrest’s career was in reverse well before Ronny turned up

Great entertainment. Big Toure was there.
Broony was awesome, eoghan(sp) played well.
Hope everyone got home ok, heard the Leicester fans were looking for trouble.

I thought Izzy was terrible as he got turned most of the game.
In fairness he was against Mahrez who is excellent.
==========
Defensively he has always been a wee bit of an Efe! (who was great today, the man has balls of steel!)
In the first half Izzy managed to huff and puff and blast his crosses far and wide, but he improved in the 2nd half with his crossing. He is one to keep as he is confident and always looking for the ball.
I like him and as you say he was up against Mahrez.

Big game following on ESPN.
Portland Timbers hosting LA Galaxy who are on a winning streak.
Timber fans wearing green and white, many in hoops.
Create a good colorful raucous atmosphere

Izzy made some good breaks down the left in the first half and the Englanders could have been in trouble if his crossing had not been so dreadful.
We’ll call that a draw, in the context of a normal “league” game without a penalty shoot-out (for fair comparison with the EPL)…
For the record, only Arsenal and Liverpool actually beat Leicester City in the EPL last season. As such, and even given the pre-season nature of the game, I would say that is a credible result for Celtic.

Where did i say it wasn’t?
He failed to live up to the start he had with Lenny.
But the decline in the last two years is staggering.
All sports require a great deal of mental belief and his is non existent at present.
Maybe McGuinness and Brendan can rebuild his belief?
Also due to the fragile nature of Delia’s team many guys have less confidence.
Bringing belief to existing players is something the coaching staff need to do.
The signing of Toure should help and would like to see an experienced centre mid also.

I enjoyed that a lot today. Competitive game – better than previous pre-season friendlies, decent energy levels and players seemed committed to putting in the effort. Worthwhile excercise ahead of a difficult away fixture next week, and I think there is evidence of a more cohesive and direct/purposeful approach.

I try my best not to dislike any Celtic player, criticism, is fair enough but under the BR influence young Forest (25 or something) might still have a massive future, some players flourish under different managers…..anyway we can hammer our keyboards all day and all night am sure Brendan has already made his mind up……
More important is Wednesday …….am pretty confident Astana 0…. James Forest 2

I only made a comparison based on McGeady the footballer.
His career has gone like a lead balloon.Couldn’t even make bench in championships play offs.
But he had an established international reputation that led to big transfers and pay days.
Forrest has no real reputation to justify the same.
McGeady also suffers from same confidence issues.

Does he really have talent in his feet? I don’t think I can remember a player who has been lauded as much as JF. He’s been the same player since he broke onto the scene, he’s never improved because he doesn’t have it in him.
Comparisons to McGeady (and even Maloney) are crazy. Is he even at the Ross Wallace level??
GreeninbingleyinOslo on
That’s fine. Another good and positive run-out against quality opposition, and an absolute peach of a goal as well.
I also think it will be a 3-5-2 set-up against Astana and I think we will get a result in Kazakhstan. Watched them against HJK Helsinki last year. They won 4-3 but only because Helsinki, especially in defence, were even poorer that they were. And they were poor.
Tough game – plastic pitch, oppressive heat, match-fit opponents – but I am sure we will score against them, at least once.
The question, as ever, is keeping them out at the other end. They use the flanks a lot and not much through the middle – crosses pinging in, in the Helsinki game usually from the right.
I hesitate to say this, but they’re no great shakes. Having said that, I’d take 1-1 right now.
Delighted that Kolo Toure is joining the party. Oceans of experience – he will be nothing but good for us, both on the park and in the dressing room. Too early for him to play on Wednesday night but I hope he makes the trip with us.

I very much doubt he will go with five at the back.
They were the only ones who played the whole game, hence me saying that.
