Slippery G is showing his metal. That’s twice in his last two games he’s stated he takes responsibility and within 30 seconds has knifed his team in the back and thrown them under the burnt oot bus.

Slippery G is turning into a proper hun.

Long may he reside at the red brick Victorian shitehoose.

  2. Those last ten minutes or so were not good for the oul heart – especially after being at the Heart Failure clinic today. Still we won and we deserved it.

    Well done bhoys.

What a game. Could (and should) have won more comfortably against a top team , almost contrived to surrender two of the three points at the death ,but showed great character to score again so quickly after their equaliser. Some great team work and some great individual performances…..KT , OE , DB , FB , JF , RC. Some familiar weaknesses (right back area , CG’s distribution) but far outweighed by our blossoming young ‘uns KT, C Mac and RC.

All in a Europa group 10 times more difficult than Sevco’s (no matter what the SMSM might tell you.)

I hope that was the time of our winning goal since we took centre :-)

You did but beating Salzburg wilny be easy, they are a top team and if they feel the need to help their compadres they will do their damnest to get a result in Glasgow, the situation shouldn’t have been allowed in the first place, it goes against so many uefa rules, yet we are in the feckin middle of it, it’s a feckin joke.

  6. Brendan Rodgers got it right when he said win your home games, and try and get something away.

Didn’t stop the cynical or the crucifixion on CQN and it didn’t stop another magnificient night in Paradise, either Celtic outplayed a Bundesliga, side and you can’t even say that of the Lisbon Lions.

Rock solid Boyata and Benkovic have put Celtic back in the Europa mix and with players coming back we are on an upward curve Tierney and Christie jousted for man of the match McGregor was superb a as were the ever improving Edouard and Forrest.

A win in Trondheim could set up a another corker as we roll on relentlessly into the unbridgeable abyss between Celtic and the rest of Scotland, with Celtic’s much maligned ‘summertime failings’ evaporating after every game.

Brendan Rodgers ‘one tactic team’ never called into question following a nervy opening ten minutes we held firm against the classy German side, but to break and score in the first real meaningful attack, knocked the stuffing from Leipzig.

Eventually they pegged it back but the magical moment seconds later was,

Tierney Sinclair Christie Edouard……….. Goal ……..and bedlam.

Rodgers used his Yusef Mulumbu to great effect giving up James Forrest on the wide right his position redundant, as Leipzig piled forward through the middle Mulumbu dwelled, trying to get up to speed with the game, but what would have happened had he not been in there at all?

    13.88 seconds,

    ****

Time between slippy gee taking responsibility and throwing his plodders under the bus.

  8. I thought we started tentatively as they pressed us and applied pressure. Given our recent European record this was understandable. The goal settled us down naturally, it was outstanding play by Forrest and a great finish by KT. Some of KT’s running was absolutely ridiculous, at one point he almost injured one of their players who was just trying to keep up. We had good control in the first half and could have added another goal.

In the second half they upped the intensity and the pace of the game was immense. Nobody could really get a hold of the ball and slow the game down to bring some control or show that bit of quality that was needed to be an attacking force. We always looked vulnerable at right back and it looked like it cost us a goal and could easily have cost a couple more. No surprises there really, we know we are weak at right back and need to invest. The response was excellent and great play from Sinclair, Christie and Edouard who deserved his goal. Bringing on Mulumbu and shunting Calum out right didn’t really work to be fair, we looked ragged at the end and Mulumbu looks well off the pace.

Overall some really outstanding performances, Brown wasn’t really missed as McGregor was again brilliant, Christie has come from nowhere to contribute beyond expectations, Edouard was incredible and Benkovic again went about his business superbly. Sinclair is improving and benefiting from our improved midfield which means he receives the ball quicker and in better positions although i do think he can still do more.

Well done to everyone including the Manager and supporters on a great result and a good night all round.

    For the conspiracy.

I couldn’t name a Salsburg player but I guess the thing to watch is if they put out a weak team in the next round and full strength team against us should we beat the Norwegians and they……ahem, lose at home.

Should never have been allowed to happen. These should have been kept apart to remove any chance of cheating, perceived or otherwise at corporate level.

  10. GERRYFAETHEBRIG, Neganon is the CQN equivalent of the pished up guy down the local that annoy’s the feck out of everyone with their ongoing effort to bring the collective mood into the mire.

He has the unparalleled ability to extract the negative from any joyous occasion. I have no idea if he is a lurking hun or just a lonely bhoy that allowed his circumstances to get the better of him.

    TET,

It’s in our own hands, the time to speak up was after the draw, we can rely on the Plc to have made no comment whatsoever, bring the victim suits the business plan.

An unhappy Tim of that I am sure, sometimes even some Celtic fans are only happy when unhappy :-)

    Daily Record headline tomorrow

“Celtic continue their 100% win ratio in europa league section”

    Nah ?

Just saw Hunny Gee taking full responsibility then calling his defenders u-12/13 players … Stevie is actually funnier than the previous managers of the Sevs

Neganon is an intelligent Tim from Drumchapel who has different opinions to yours. Play the ball, not the man. Please.

  15. Excellent game between 2 very good teams. We deservedly shaded it. Too many top class performers to pick a MOTM but Edouard (as a target man) and Christie (as a No.8) certainly came of age. Four young Scottish players, three from our academy looked as good as, if not better than their mega bucks stars, and what a difference having our first choice defence for a change.

Alas the Red Bull fix will now be implemented and even if we win our last 2 games and get 12 points we could still go out.

    DD,

I wouldn’t bother, some people are just no happy unless they are having a go at Celtic supporters and trying to impose censorship on what Celtic supporters are allowed to talk about.

  21. There’s a danger we are focusing too much on the Salzburg: Leipzig tie. Whatever will be , will be, as far as that is concerned. A team that truly cheats would not field a weakened side. ~It would field the regular team and tell them to avoid injuring themsleves as they have an important league game afterwards.

No- our focus has to be on winning in Rosenborg. All the effort and achievement tonight will be wasted if we cannot win on a Frozen Norwegian pitch.

We have played them in Oslo 5 times previously

    1972- we won 3:1

2001- we lost 2:0 (Brattback scored for them)

    2017- we won 1:0

2018- in the CL earlier this season we drew 0:0

We should win but the Scottish mentality often comes unstuck in the games we expect to win.

Still, best we can ask is that we have kept Europe alive again tonight.

  22. The Disco Lights looked great and helped build up the atmosphere.

But I think I would rather have had a new right back ?

  23. Canman

The board said feck all, Brendan said he didn’t have a problem with it, obviously relaying the boards mindset, if we win against RBS we could still go out due to them fixing it, it’s a joke.

We will see in a couple of weeks, I expect us to win in Norway, I reckon RBL will win in Austria.

  24. Give Neganon his due he came on and like the good Tim that he is congratulated the team and performance and like the good moaning face bassa that he is ? gets into the Board for keeping schtum about certain things.

Will EL be on tonight to congratulate the team or are there no opportunities for point scoring after that result?
