Here’s a thought that’s bothered me a little – on the way back rom the game yesterday was sitting opposite a fellow Celtic Supporter (on the train) and the subject of the religious divide came up (as it does!) and he said to me he knows he’s definitely a Catholic because he’s felt guilty his whole life! Didn’t get the chance to explore further short train journey but – without trying to be smart or anything – anyone any idea what he was driving at?
Great game by the way, great entertainment, bonus was definitely seeing Leigh on the pitch playing again.
Shortbread ‘Sport’ Rangers are level with Celtic on Points!

Anybody else notice that Kilmarnock have shortened and narrowed their plastic pitch (presumably after their quick European exit !). Pretty sad from an SPFL Premiership team on both counts !
They along with Hamilton and Livingston need to decide if they are a premiership or a community club making a few quid from their pitch midweek. 25% of the top league play on plastic – disgraceful really,

Hoped we would get a home draw, mainly because that’s probably the only way we will get to see match live.
Compare and contrast with Partick Thistle versus Celtic (Scottish Cup) 25/01/1969, which ended 3-3 after we led 3-1 in the second half. Kind of threw it away, but Jimmy Bone did score two for Thistle. Turn up get in, 35,000 on record. replay only four days later, nearly 50,000 in attendance, Big Jock put out the same team, and demolished Partick 8-1. Great year for silver that year!

Celtic Mac at 8.22 – I’m pretty sure that’s the game of which wee Bertie tells a great wee story – Bertie was the unused sub on the bench, Jock was livid after the game that the players had thrown away a 2 goal lead and promised dramatic changes for the replay. But for the replay the only player dropped was Bertie, the unused sub!!!
Is Gate money not split 50/50 in FtSFA cup games ?

*** CQN PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2019-20 ***
RESULTS FROM GAME #17 – CELTIC 4 LIVINGSTON 0 (EDOUARD, BROWN, FORREST(2))
What a performance to come back with after the International Break. But the 2 main stars of the show didn’t (as far as I know) play for their respective countries over the last 2 weeks. This week’s man of the match attained the 2nd highest percentage rating of this competition so far, with only 1 voter failing to include him in their top 3 (when we beat Partick Thistle in the league club every single voter included Ntcham in their pick and that remains the only 100% stat so far).
A weekend where we extended our lead at the top of the league from 1 goal to 3 with a far more entertaining performance than our closest rivals.
Thank you to the 59 who voted. The votes for the 14 players who took to the field are as follows (my own choices are asterisked) –
Forster: 0
Frimpong* – 58
Jullien: 13
Ajer: 1
Hayes: 2
Brown*: 52
McGregor: 5
Christie: 4
Rogic:1
Forrest: 39
Edouard*: 2
Taylor: 0
Griffiths: 0
Ntcham: 0
Unused subs – Gordon, Bauer, Bitton, Morgan
So, the players receiving points for the Livingston game are –
Frimpong – 5 points
Brown – 4 points
Forrest – 3 points
Jullien – 2 points
McGregor – 1 point
This means that the aggregate total points are now as follows –
Brown – 37 points
Edouard – 32 points
Forrest – 26 points
Christie – 22 points
Elyounoussi – 22 points
Frimpong – 22 points
Jullien – 20 points
McGregor – 15 points
Bolingoli-Mbombo – 13 points
Bauer – 11 points
Forster – 9 points
Elhamed – 8 points
Hayes – 7 points
Ajer – 6 points
Ntcham – 5 points
Bitton – 3 points
Bayo – 3 points
Taylor – 3 points
Rogic – 1 point
Whilst the overall plaudits currently go to Scott Brown (who is having possibly his best EVER season for us?) again, I need to end by highlighting the incredible immediate impact that Jeremie Frimpong has had in his Celtic career. At last, he has received his first CQN Man Of The Match award, in his 6th game for us. In 4 of his other games (Partick, Ross County, Aberdeen and Motherwell) he was runner up. And he also picked up a single point in the League Cup semi-final win against Hibs. He now sits in joint 5th place having only played in 6 of the 17 games!
We now look forward to Thursday’s game at home to Rennes. If we win that and Lazio beat Cluj (which they will have to do to keep alive their slim chances of qualifying) then we will have won the group!
Hail Hail
