    interesting

didnt know that about him. he obviously had something irresistible to women that he kept getting them despite the experiences of his previous relationships!!

but the point is that you would look at a picasso painting and think picasso.

but if you listen to the ronnettes or the crystals then you maybe think about the song and the group. and the spector angle is only a background bit of info

hence its easier to separate spector from his songs than it is picasso from his drawings

During the Motherwell game I heard songs favouring Newco…do the away team get to air their songs on the tannoy system for a fee?

There is a song for every occassion.

Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers.

    Pablo Picasso.

Lyrics start about 1 minute in

“Well some people try to pick up girls

    And get called assholes

This never happened to Pablo Picasso

He could walk down your street

And girls could not resist his stare and

So Pablo Picasso was never called an asshole”

It’s the broadcaster that provides what you hear – it’s not heard in the stadium.

So make of that what you will 🤔

  8. TV Settings makes a difference ,rather how our team and coaches have been this season,Sky for being the big player they were are trying to fleece there consumers,I buy a 50” Samsung 4K Ultra H D T V ,fine but when I want to watch 4 and Ultra HD I have to pay extra,Same on Netflix why is that,I remember back in the day on Council Telly with a outside Ariel the picture was outstanding, nowadays they call it Standard Definition which picture wise is shocking,it’s a con just to squeeze more money out of there customers, and for the guy on earlier who is getting SQ fitted ,just a bit of caution I have another one in the room which isn’t Ultra H D

How refreshing , wonder if it will catch on .

    Groundhog Day Again 🙁

All this player evaluation we are doing under the current management team, not sure if its valid, sure when Ronnie Delia went and Brendan Rodgers came in, we had already written off the vast majority of the squad, but all of a sudden the under performers found a brand new lease of life, James Forrest being a point in case,

Most of our players have gone backwards form wise since BR left and NL came in, once he goes, and surely its inevitable, then its possible the new guy could turn some of them around – just like BR did when he came in,

the poor form and especially the poor fitness level of our squad is astonishing, and let’s not mention tactics, a new coach – if he is of the right pedigree will surely get more out of our players.

  12. We had an email off Motherwell to be fair a few days ago talking about the standard of the pitch but we knew that at this stage of the season you’re not going to get perfect pitches. Ibrox isn’t perfect at the moment.

“It was just to give us an early indication about the pitch and that if the weather turned we could have an issue, and also to say Motherwell had to use it and it was not in the usual condition.

“It’s normally a fantastic pitch here. It was a heads up that if we had a period of weather that was bad the game could be 50-50. Thankfully the game went ahead, we appreciated the heads up but it’s nothing for Motherwell to be ashamed of.

S Gerrard….really sporting behaviour from Motherwell….I’m sure that they would do the same for us…

  13. THE ONLOOKER on 17TH JANUARY 2021 2:37 PM

    Rules of refereeing in Scotland

    1: Always help Rangers.

    2: Always hinder Celtic

Setting aside how awful we were yesterday we saw the usual bias in refereeing yesterday.

It wasn’t a dirty game but was not officiated fairly,

Livi were allowed to put in men’s challenges

against our (boy ) bhoys….play on.

However all of our ‘soft’ challenges were given as free kicks to Livi.

    We had 61% possession

but Livi were awarded 56% of free kicks….. !!

That’s an annomaly in anyone’s statistics that somehow goes unchallenged by us week in , week out.

Today I switched on Motherwell v Huns game with 2 mins of added time left to play….it was 1:1

    I half expected a late , late penalty ,

    but Motherwell held out.

With about 15 seconds left Motherwell broke out of defence and moved up field.

The Motherwell player was fouled, at halfway line, ( no whistle) , he rode the challenge but was immediately fouled a second time… with a few seconds left in time added on the Ref blows is whistle and awards a free kick…

It will be the last play of the game,

    End of game drama ?

    A lifeline for struggling Motherwell?

A chance to send everyone up for a long free kick?

A no risk Hail Mary option?, …

Will the referee allow the time? ,

fair play would suggest that he should allow the time for the free kick ….

    what will he do?

( we all know what he will do)

Referee looks at his watch ,does the calculations, refers himself to the first rule of refereeing in Scotland… and decides to blow the final whistle a few seconds early…

    Mini crisis averted

The league is long over, Huns no longer need their help, but the referees can’t help themselves.

” We have no one but ourselves to blame.”

I don`t particularly like the word `blame` but, other than poor performances (players, management and The Board), perhaps we DO have some other factors to at least consider.

    To name a few:

    Bolingoli and two suspended games;

    Players having to isolate after Internationals;

    Some even greater bias on the part of the referees;

Number of injuries we have suffered compared with Sevco.

    Any more?

  15. CORKCELT on 17TH JANUARY 2021 2:17 PM

We are 23 goals behind but have 3 games in hand.

Win the 3 in hand plus the 2 Monkey games by 2 clear goals, & the difference is 9.

They will need to lose 2 other games for us to finish level on points, so that’s another minus 2 ,

    So just 7 extra goals.

In case ye all think I have lost my mind, I have good practice, I used to go on with this kind of mental gymnastics right through the barren years, so I’ve been thrown out of better joints than this, so ye won’t hurt my feelings if ye throw me out again

  16. SETTING FREE THE BEARS FOR RES. 12 & OSCAR KNOX on 17TH JANUARY 2021 2:00 PM

Another example of game management today.

4 minutes extra time awarded , hoping Sevco would make use of ut for a win. This is supposed to be a minimum of 4 minutes extra time but at 3m and 55s in , Motherwell win a free kick in the Sevco half- a last chance to lump a ball into the mix. But, the ref thinks that’s enough time elapsed – might as well blow the final whistle.

    Small things but they count

  17. Anyone…..feel free to correct me if I’m wrong….might be my memory is playing up.

Back in the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s, centre backs were used mainly for their heading prowess. If a centre back, back then, could use his feet effectively he was basically in the wrong position. He should be adept at heading the ball out of his area and into the opposition net at set pieces. Other than that his only other job was to horse the ball out of the danger zone and hope that one of his midfielders or forwards got to it first and carried it forward.

Nowadays, this penchant for, not only ball playing centre backs, but also ball playing goalkeepers, has resulted, in my mind, the ball travelling backwards much more often than forwards.

It would be interesting, to me anyway, to compare games from any of these decades to todays mostly drab affairs.

At a guess, I would say that today, in most games the ball travels backwards at least 60% of the time, resulting mostly in a snorefest.

I also think that back in the day, the ball travelled forwards at least 60% of the time.

  18. 31003

There were lots of back passes to the keeper in those days as they could pick it up -they would then hold on to it – the law was charged to stop this and speed up the game.

On the plus side the keeper would launch the ball up to the CF.

    GENE @ 6.51.

    Well whatever keeps ’em happy.

    Picasso joke:

After his wife divorced him,Joe asked his best friend,Tom, to fix him up with a blind date.Tom obliged. The next day Joe called up Tom and shouted at him angrily;”Tom,what kind of a guy do you think I am.That girl you fixed me up with was crossed-eyed;she was almost bald; her nose was long, thin and crooked; she had hair growing on her face; she was flat chested, and her ankles were as thick as her thighs.Tom answered;”Either you like Picasso, or you don’t like Picasso.

  20. GENE

    Yup, I remember that.

But you must also remember that if you didn’t a) take the player rushing towards you on, or b) horse it up the park, and instead, you chose c) pass back to the goalie, you were considered by opposition fans as being somewhat of a pussy

CV handed in by an EPL manager “resting” between gigs.

No much more polished than that — got a very big gig so no skin off his nose.

Possibly too good to be true but had enough detail to make it credible.

More worrying was the tarriff of £60K in used twenties — not sure in which direction.

Seems to be a well known element of the way football operates.

My theory was that we used our pet agents to get us players.

There may be other angles in play to get CVs read / videos watched.

  22. MadMitch

I read that somewhere the other day.

Reading it again I still can’t make head nor tail what it’s about

  23. Neil Lennon’s press conference for Livi game will broadly go in one if two directions

Avenue one is lots of chat about the Dubai fiasco , or avenue two, he closes down any Dubai questions, says the club have no more to say and he is here to talk about the next game.

Personally, I think it’s time for NL to move on, but the PR conf will say a lot about how focussed he is on the game in hand, and that in turn will filter to players and influence match preparation

  24. Clash

Neil should say “when you ask slippy about their financial shenanigans and who was at that party then come back,”

Gossip — very detailed gossip going round that a figure of £60K plays a part in our player recruitment process.

Not sure what direction or who is involved — agent / scouting agent / advisor.

Not sure if this dimension is always active in player transfers in general across football.

Wary that the gossip is just to good / straight out of central casting to be correct.

However our player recruitment over the past 10 years has had its moments where things just did not make sense. And if they don’t make sense then you have to ask why — who is involved in this seemigly irrational series of events?

For me — since 2006 — PL has always had a secret then not so secret agenda.

For him his bonus was his total focus — it did not require good football it just needed him to run a ship that would never require DD to put his hand into his pocket ever again.

That was to me the reason for the irrationality that I saw in the way the football side was run.

The recent gossip would suggest that the irrationality is not all in one box.

Stories from other clubs and other countries confirms that irrationality is rife in the world of football transfers — the closest I had seen it to us was the supposed contract between PLG and TFOD where we was due 20% of the profit from any players he bought if they moved on for a profit.

Not sure SDM would offer such inducements — he seemingly had a reputation as being as tight as a drum when it came to money for others if not himself — if it was not to reduce the potential for his football staff to buy high priced duds where the transaction was not to the benefit of the whole company.

So these issues are out there.

And now there are comments about £60K being the tarriff of choice.

I struggle to believe it because it would appear to be so brazen.

However the gossip is out there and the duds are in plain sight.
