    I normally read CQN on my iphone via the DuckDuckGo browser. This infernal adblock message has me close to giving up on the site for the first time since it started. It feels like a North Korean Big Brother program dictating that I must conform or else it’s off to Camp 14.

     

     

    Does anyone close to Paul advise him on how un-user friendly the site has become? Is there an inner circle that discusses these kind of things with him? There must be plenty of better ways of generating income for the site than allowing this plague of unwanted propaganda to be plastered all over it.

    I mentioned the other week how at the start of lockdown I did CRC’s Friday night quiz with a mate.

     

     

    I’ve tried to get him to post on here before as I think he would be great for the site, but when he couldn’t even get to read the questions that night I knew I was onto a losing battle.

     

     

    Of course I was going to advise him to download a separate browser (and turn off java of course) purely for this site but realised how bad it sounded before the words left my mouth

    MAJESTIC HARTSON – I have a decent-sized laptop and 1GB fibre optic in my work and CQN is just about readable but on the iphone it is a joke. For Paul now to target people who choose to use DuckDuckGo, switch off javascript or use an adblocker feels like a step too far.

     

    I would not care if it was a couple of banner ads on each page but the current approach is a complete dog’s dinner with pop-up videos appearing all over the place.

     

    when you add onto that the widespread problems many have with being randomly logged off, the site really needs a rethink and an overhaul.

     

    Many people offered Paul help with this in the past, including offering to help fund the site. I cannot for the life of me know why these issues are ignored while the site slowly drifts into oblivion as others pass it by.

     

    The excellent daily Podcasts on twitter/Facebook by A Celtic State of Mind (Paul John Dykes) is an example of presenting topical debate/discussion in a user friendly way.
