  1. Reflections

Celtic Park was flat yesterday Players, fans and manager/staff. This was not the feel of a team going after a title. Probably not one reason but to me the team selection was the key factor. We had to win that game and you put your best team on the park that means starting Kyogo. It gave livi a lift at Martindale explained before game ( made me think of the Fergie/Ronaldo story a couple of weeks ago). The switch on Bitton and McGregor roles was also a mistake. The slowness of Bitton to move the ball played into the lethargic feel.

We had to win the 2 league games before the intl break —- to exercise maximum pressure on TFOD and rest Kyogo in Europe. Ange got this wrong.

Re penalty I couldn’t believe GG was taken it ; he was poor yesterday and I said to my sons / guys beside me can’t believe JJ isn’t taking it and quietly predicted a miss. McGregor came over as GG was bent over and spoke to him —- that was a telling moment and it’s what put a cold shiver up my spine.

On play so one dimensional 81 crosses in 2 games. We have wingers who don’t know how or when to beat a man. Abada is a man short most days now. Mickey Johnston was hopeful but still seem him as a 5 a side player with no end product.

    Madden a cheat as always.

Ps GB infantile protest and it sure played a part in the lethargy all around. On Board with Higgins cannot be part of Celtic but that approach missed giving the team a lift after tired legs and minds from Easter Road.

Pops Homework Ange….find a plan b or c for these deep lying teams —- it will be coming at us more this season.

Thank you for the info re David 66 I’m sure he’ll let us all know

    when he’s well again.

I was with Paddy last week as you may know, and his plans for

our CSC are very exiting, lncluding not only our Christmas bbq

but a gathering of all the Oz CSCs in our little rebel town on the

Peninsula, now that will be mega, better start stockpiling the

    Paracetamol. 🥳🍷

  3. better celtic teams than this current side have struggled against packed defences. livingston have shown other teams how to play celtic.

  4. Neil Lennon left Celtic 250 days ago (well, 249 but who’s counting?)

Have the board down enough to improve our immediate and long term prospects since then?

Is our plan clear? Are we making headway?

Are the correct structures now in place to maximise our chances of success both this season and for the next 3 to 5 years?

Or, have any changes been minimal?

  5. Big jimmy Best wishes to David66. Hope is out soon

As for Europe Away from home is made for Kyogo Hit on Break fast with him and Jota

I would pack midfield but who ?

    Soro is a liability

    McCarthy is unfit

Bitton was a midfield player , but looks like a slow Center half

    Basically nothing

We play Abada and he will vanish

Seriously short of players , especially middle of park

  6. Lucky Cody.

    Agree regarding Abada and Johnstone

And throwing crosses into one striker in a packed defence won’t work

  7. spikeysauldman on

    SydentTim

Could always play Jamesie in the middle of the park. A few winning games v the huns with goals/assists ;-)

  8. Sydneytim,

We also need a striker with an aerial threat which GG does not seem to possess. His lack of movement in the box is concerning.

Best striker I have seen as an aerial threat was Larsson movement, timing and jump —-better than Sutton or Hartson as a penalty box aerial threat. We need to find this type of player without all the other stuff for plan b, c. Otherwise Livi will take 4 more points of us and others…

RC read you comments yesterday evening agreed with them all incl why leave starfelt on for 10 mins when they knew he had an issue. They had sub warming up and didn’t make it and ended up putting Bitton back. Medical staff need to answer that one.

Ange has some soul searching to do….wonder what his real view is on the backroom staff, setup and support from a board not fit for purpose.

  9. Tom McLaughlin on

I agree with the GB on their stance against Higgins and the banner was superb. However, what was the point of the 30 minute silent protest, other than to adversely affect the Celtic players and help the opposition. It smacked of arrogance, as if the men sitting in the directors box would be feeling put out by their silence. I think not.

  10. “WESTCRAIGS on 31ST OCTOBER 2021 6:39 AM

livingston have shown other teams how to play celtic.”

Other teams already `know` how to play Celtic but when we are on form, they don`t gain anything from that knowledge.

    “Lucky Cody @ 6:21am

Pops Homework Ange….find a plan b or c for these deep lying teams —- it will be coming at us more this season.”

It has been ` coming at us …` every season.”.When we play well and take our chances, it doesn`t really make any difference. We invariably win.

  11. TOM MCLAUGHLIN on 31ST OCTOBER 2021 8:44 AM

I spoke with one of the GB leaflet distributors and said that whilst I agree with their sentiment, I thought five minutes would have been fine. He replied that they did well to get 30, some wanted the whole 90 !

I agree that the banner was excellent.

  12. prestonpans bhoys on

How many teams say they will sit tight for the first 30 minutes to quieten the crowd, no need yesterday, arseholes!

  13. BBC Site”

‘There are, of course, mitigating factors. A Covid outbreak at the end of August depleted the squad and forced Gerrard into self-isolation, while injuries have also caused disruption.’

I must have missed that type of comment when we suffered much more than THEY have because of Covid and injury disruption :-))

  14. PRESTONPANS BHOYS on 31ST OCTOBER 2021 8:55 AM

  15. prestonpans bhoys on

    HS

And I would have been one of them but couldn’t make the game. And I’m in that standing area!

  16. Just repeating myself

There was over 50,000 other fans that could have been signing through the first 30mins

At least the Kano kids tried

Or is only the Green Brigade to blame for our flat performance

Note – if you read the leaflets being handed out,you would have read, Celtic board have refused to engage with fans groups on the potential appointment of the despised Higgins

You would also have read on how he led a police force to persecute the fans nowbeing criticised

  17. NORRIEM on 31ST OCTOBER 2021 9:11 AM

I think anyone who read the leaflet would have understood the GB`s action .

    Deff off now.

  18. Hate the morning after a non-victory.

30 minutes silence from the Green Brigade is their right. If anyone has a better suggestion for getting their protest across then I’m sure they would be willing to listen.

Did it affect the performance? I doubt it. Thought the first 30 minutes was our best spell. Good crosses from Ralston, one from Abada and a couple from Jota. Only the last 6 minutes provided more chances.

And even if it did, the rest of the crowd are entitled to sing / make a noise. A few did. The kids in the Kano section tried.

The difference between the whirlwind first half against Hibs and that agains Livingston was two-fold. Number one – Tom Rogic. Number two – Hibs sort of tried to play football / attack. Livi just booted the ball up the park hoping for a mistake. Turns out their tactic was more effective.

What yesterday’s result shows is that games where we demolish teams is because we earned it, not because the opposition is a push over.

  19. I feel a bit better about the missed penalty as I didn’t realise that the award just came from a Livi defender’s stupidity rather than preventing a shot on goal or whatever.

I didn’t like the way Kyogo collapsed either.

Had we scored, it would have been a Get Out of Jail.

  20. Quick read back. I feel the need to respond to two posts…

Scott Brown would have given the penalty to Juranovic. Nonsense. The manager and the captain have both said the penalty taker was designated before the game. That is the correct way to do it. The fact we disagree with the choice is neither here nor there.

Ange should have a plan B for playing against teams like Livi. I thought playing big guy up front yesterday WAS Plan B. Plan A was scuppered by the absence of Tom Rogic though we did try to revert to plan A by bringing on Kyogo and Mikey. And it almost worked. The balance of the team looked much better.

As for Europe Away from home is made for Kyogo Hit on Break fast with him and Jota

    …………..

I dont disagree with you about Kyogo in Europe etc…but my point is that ( for me)…our League challenge in Scotland is No.1 PRIORITY.

I dont wish to see Kyogo getting injured in European league games, and I also like the idea of him getting as much rest between Scottish games as possible, because this season playing in Europe is mostly just a distraction from our real GOAL….The Scottish league.

I agree with the GB stance on Higgins etc…and the excellent Banner….but the 30 minutes silence was just plain daft…IMHO.

    Mon the Motherwell.

  22. So it’s all the GB fault that we never won yesterday.

Nothing to do with team selection, tactics or manager who can’t or won’t change anything during the game.

Other than like for like substitutions.

I wish I seen us progressing as a squad and club.

As I like Ange , but I can’t see it.

  23. Maybe the GB should have considered handing out and USING Tin/Plastic Whistles for 30 minutes…that would maybe have had more of an impact ?

That may have confused the Polis…and distracted Livvy players from their plan of defence LOL ?

    HH

  24. The arrogance, self entitlement and lack of self awareness of the silent majority moaning that the miniscule standing section didn’t entertain them for half an hour.

  25. My friends in Celtic,

Football is a dynamic game. The captain should have made a call if GG was not the best person on the field to take our crucial penalty. Regardless what was decided hours previously off the park.

Final word from me on Bernard Higgins.

Is he the best person to do the job and keep the fans as safe as possible. Is he best placed to know the inside story on the threats and required mitigations required in 2022. ?

I do not know . What I do know is he will not be a popular appointment, but is he the most qualified person for the job, possibly the most important, crucial but unfashionable job at our club.

Remember BH is the monkey not the organ grinder.

    HH, and roll on Thursday.

Amazing how, during a rich vein of form, it only takes one little setback to put so many supporters back to writing off the players and the manager. We have got to be the most fickle support in the world.

I keep hearing how yesterday was a “must win” game. Why? Because it would have taken us to the top of the table? We didn’t lose the game. We drew. It happens.

The huns will drop more points, maybe as soon as today. I was gutted coming away from Celtic Park yesterday but there’s still a long way to go. I for one am not throwing in the towel.

Too many panic merchants on CQN. Never mind. Sunday is a great day for washing bedsheets.

    In a nutshell.

I think that there’s an ignorance, and I don’t mean that in a critical way it’s just a reality, of what many young men endured as a consequence of the OBaF Act. The appointment of Higgins is akin to the Plc board trolling a section of our support. Unfortunately, it’s yet another example of just how detached they are from their customers.

  28. i just beat a player from Hungary 1-2 on Fifa 19.

    Is it a sign?

He/She played maist of the game with 10 Men.

    Remember, Everyone should Remember.

At a Livi stoppage Joe Hart was Soaking in the Atmosphere when it kicked in after the Silence. He is gonnae be pivotal to how Good Celtic can be this Season never mind next.

  29. We played Livingston 6 weeks ago and lost.

Watching yesterday’s game the manager learned nothing from that defeat.

  30. Greenpinata,

An adventurous side would have exploited that. I must say say I was a wee bit Yvonne Murray’d about that moment.

He is right up for the Celtic and implementing Ange’s philosophy to the jot and tittle. Instantaneous ball back in Davie Hay ASAP.
