  1. We are not good enough simple as that, we struggle every week against SPL teams so how are we to beat a Serie A team even if they are out of form.

AC Milan run through us at will.

Now that Europe is over can Rogic and Biton get some starts big Denny from the youths as well.

That is now the second time Lenny has used attacking tactics against an Italian team and lost 3-0 both times will there be a third time? KTF bring on the jamtarts

  2. one glance down that team list tonight told us the same thing we see every CL game……. we have absolutely no goal threat. I cannot remember the last time we had such weak striker options. Having sold tghe guys we did, and brought in the money we have, that is criminal.

Although… perhaps not as criminal as the 4 or 5 six foot plus bodies we had standing about when Kaka (of all people) headed home Milan’s first.

Bottom of the group. Pumped out of europe, having sold our best 2 players, and simply not replacing them.

  3. Malone Bhoy in support of Wee Oscar

We haven’t had the luck either but you make your own. Even disregarding the mistakes we’ve not scored enough goals to merit anything at all. A lot of that comes down to the club selling Hooper and not replacing him.

*how many goals did hoops score in Europe last season, he’s a Norwich player and there’s a reason for that.

One consolation we have is NOT getting humiliated in the last 16 this season.

  4. Philboy – we’ve won the league this year and for the next 5 or more. Building for long term also needs new coaching to change with times. I would like to see some new staff added. Ferguson done it for years at Utd and was quite successful

That was the longest game I can remember.

Inquest will begin shortly I think.

If we can learn lessons it won’t have been a waste.

    Lustig was excellent.

problem is our manager does not know how to learn lessons.

first goal player standing on his own.

second goal they all run to near post and our players follow.player standing on his own again fires ball across goal.

    SIMPLES.

Left st half time as not feeling good.

By the time mrs bt got me it was 0.3..

Now you all know my feelings on the board.

We are embarrassed because we don’t spend.

    Our board don’t deserve us.

I met bhoys and ghirls today who have probably spent about ÂŁ500 on champion league games alone..

When was the last time the board put their hand in their pocket

Off to sleep so don’t answer couse liket the board I don’t give a flying feck what u think..

  7. We should punt FF for what we can get in the window. Whatever we get will be fine as far as I’m concerned.

  8. hard lesson tonight , 2 basic mistakes from set plays and we lose goals ,

hindsight’s a great thing but I said before the game the team was wrong ,

only 2 mids and 4 attackers on , played same way against juve and as tonight

game was over in first 15 mins………….

    roll on for the double

  9. Sadly we got what we deserved in this campaign. Our players look like they are treading water. Side way joe, chocolate bhoys forrest and his dutch brother..sammy never a lone striker target man. Concrete feet in net,,, one dimensional, no plan b, c,d,e, f or g.

Only some of the negatives. Why play two wingers and no target men..why loan your best youngsters out..when the guys getting payed big money can’t cut it. Buy this one, buy that one.

In the end we are where we are..a fourth ranked team in fourth spot..some might say lucky to be there after karagandy…but we are playing with the big bhoys, mistakes like great players are costly..we don’t have any great players,, plenty of mistakes though. We win as a team and we lose as a team. Out of europe but a big game on the weekend against the capital huns. We can’t afford to lose that one..or people might be calling for nfl’s heid.

  10. Agree with Gerrybhoy.

    Something lacking.

    Boys Guild defending.

Where was the defender on the post at their 2nd goal ?

Where was the keeper at their corner for their first goal ?

A flat night all round. Very depressing. Of course, we are in a very inferior League and must recognise that.

Still, no excuse for NFL not telling defenders how to defend set pieces.

RIP. Big Paul, what a brain.

With no more european football I would give serious consideration to punting the players who won’t be with us next season (for whatever reason) and get some players in with the cash raised. Give them half a season ahead of next years qualifiers.

    GREAT IDEA.think it will happen.

  13. Kojo you forgot one thing, big Foster cost us 2 goals ,and im afraid time is up for a few pl ayers as well ,Sammi, james forrest ,kris commons. and maybe ,maybe a new coach as well.

Sadly we got what we deserved in this campaign. Our players look like they are treading water.

    > This.

I would also contend though, tht as well as guys underperforming, the board are failing in their role, by allowing us to bring in sales revenue but not reinvesting properly in the squad.

  15. VVD actually reacted very well to his chance 99 times out of a hundred a shot like that goes in.

What killed us tonight was zonal marking ,if the ball does not land in your 10 sq ft you do not attack it .Thats why everyone was ball watching except Kaka

    Sair an hacked

Rogic as a sub at that point in the game? Geez a brek

I acknowledge that we are limited in the players we can afford, but I’d rather we banked the group stage money for a couple of years an bought real prospects, especially in the strikin dept, than the guff we fritterin away money on season after season.

Pukki, and Balde, arent goin to do it – ive seen enough to know that. Neither is Stokes.

Scouting for attacking options is crap

  17. sixtaeseven - Gardez la Foi, DAM 5 ! on

Undone by untypical schoolboy defending at corners.

Usual numpty “UEFA” ref (you all know what I mean) never goes the way of … the “small nation” team.

    Milan mega-flattered by scoreline.

They know every trick in the book and continue to write – unabashed – new chapters.

However, we have been punching above our weght for a long time now. Time now for the board to get serious and get us CL quality up front and in midfield (no disrespect to the bhoys that are there at the moment who to a man give 100% of their talent).

We can compete at ths level. Tonight’s scoreline has been waiting to happen however -and the fans will only take so much.

    We know fitba’.

We know if we are being sold short.

    Don’t push us.

Give us the team we crave and deserve.

  18. From top to bottom this has been coming. I felt this was the likely conclusion (but not the scoreline) today.

From the board who’d rather bank cash than replace players to the manager who has no plan B to the Captain who let the team down badly with his petulance – it has been a capitulation and an embarrassment waiting to happen

In truth Celtic deserved nothing from this CL and we know the reasons why.

Celtic have scored 2 goals in this season’s competition – a penalty and a deflected goal from a midfielder who quite honestly has not been the same player he once was.

Had we not even managed this we’d be sitting on 0 points and how certain people would have crowed. We can thank goodness for small mercies I suppose.

    Sad but true.

No goals means you don’t win games

No midfield means you don’t keep the ball

No delivery means no chance of goals

No plan B means Plan A needs to work every time and that’s unrealistic at best.

EVERYONE should be having a major rethink, the club should have a major rebuilding starting this January. Those who don’t wish to stay can leave and replacements must be lined up, signed and prepared for July’s campaign.

Players who want to stay must be fashioned into a team to win the title and get ready for next year’s European football.

We got through by the skin of our teeth this season, the wrong draw and we’re in serious bother given our lack of potency and in depth quality in certain areas.

I can accept a transitional year but there needs to be signs of improvement and so far I see next to none – Van Dijk aside.

This big Icelander might be the Bhoy but we need to wait and see.

Tom Rogic – it’s time for him to start playing and put Charlie Mulgrew into the defence or play him in every game no matter what.

Nir Biton – you need to step up soon pal.

    Pukki – I despair

Amido – a work in progress but I’m willing to accept that.

Get the league won, get a cup run and build a team in time for next season – that is the remit now Celtic – oh and if we could start playing something approximating attacking and entertaining football as opposed to the workman-like football we keep looking at then all the better.

Tynecastle on Sunday will be no walkover. I hope the reaction is the right one because we need a cup run to lift the spirits and beating that mob would do nicely.

But preparation for next July MUST take place with the utmost haste. We dallied last year and it almost cost us but like the game in karagandy we still have not learned how to defend set pieces properly.

I said this after Juventus – July 1st the team must be ready for qualifiers, not last minute panic buys or chasing targets with bids massively under the value of the selling club. The fans deserve to see players brought in who will improve the side, make it attractive to watch and if that costs money then a little more should be spent to make sure we have a chance in Europe. This side doesn’t have one and it proved it.

Whenever the signing deadline is for the first qualifier that is when your business must be completed by Celtic in assembling and bedding in a side capable of going into the qualifiers.

If not we are looking at the agony of another Karagandy OR elimination all together and the misery that will cause.

    Lessons should be learned.

I’m not sure they will be.

  19. Disappointing, but one thing is for sure…

Supporters and fans who are naturally full of hope and faith, sometimes count their chickens before they have hatched… Naturally.

And while I consider myself someone who respects and applauds quality opposition who defeat us… Naturally.

I cannot help feeling that our hopes and aspirations have more opponents than the opposition team on the park, or the administrators at SFA…

An astute PLC only counts their particular chickens after they have hatched… And keep them secure. And our PLC’s hatched a while ago.

The question is in your court.

Where will we be next season?

    PL’s bonus level?

    Living wage?

    Crowds?

  21. Fed up of hearing we can learn lessons – problem is we never do learn. How may other teams in the CL went into the campaign without at least 1 recognised striker rather than a collection of goal shy forwards? How many times in Europe are we punished by giving away stupid goals the 2 identical mistakes tonight is criminal at his level.

How many times do we persist with formations that aren’t working only to make inexplicable subs?

Hope BK’s injury isn’t too bad. He was one of the few pass marks tonight.

  22. Game 1 – Milan (A) – You dont take the game to the Italians away from home

Game 2 – Barca (H) – Credible of a bit lucky first half. Brown foolish = downhill

Game 3 – Ajav (H) – Yes, we get the breaks, good performance

Game 4 – Ajax (A) – A real let down – evenly matched teams but we could’nt do it

Game 5 – Milan (H) – You dont take the game to the Italians, 4 wingers, no protection to an attacking back 4. Foolish errors, Juve again.

    Game 6 – Who cares

Stick to what we are good at. Bring back WGS

  23. The game for me turned on Big Virgil’s miss, 1-1 and it may have been so different.

Just not good enough this season.

Failure to invest in quality striker has cost us.

Thought the team weren’t bad at all, tried their level best just not up to this level.

The board ? Rank rotten !!

And some of the disparaging remarks about Ross County by the same folks after your recent win – well tonight the same applies in reverse.

    Get over it.

    That’s football.

You live within your means at the time.
