CELTIC had to rely on a stoppage-time header from Daizen Maeda to give them a 3-2 victory over Motherwell the last time the clubs met at Parkhead in October.
Kelechi Iheanacho and Benjamin Nygren had struck the earlier goals with the Fir Park club leading 2-1 at one stage.
In a rare sighting in the hoops, Michel-Ange Balikwisha whipped over a left-wing cross and Maeda dived full-length at the near post to divert in the crucial points-clincher.
Another win – at any stage of today’s encounter – would be most welcome as Martin O’Neill’s men attempt to cut back Hearts’ five-point advantage.
