What about the North stand Ass ref last night, first half ball goes out by about a foot, nothing given, Well play on Players and fans bemused, Celtic get the ball back, break up the park, the clugger brings down Jamsie, penalty and 2 nil.

Giruy Ass Ref ya cheating B.

  2. My friends in Celtic,

Maybe the game should have been stopped at half-time. We would have the three points and commuters could have navigated their way home effortlessly, alternatively many of us could have resumed frequentation of nice cosy boozers thus ensuring we do our bit to boost the local economy.

Seriously guys, it’s nights like this that our lack of transport infrastructure @ Celtic Park is brought to the fore.

IMO this needs addressed urgently or fans ( ST holders included ) will vote with their feet and opt for watching the numerous available streams.

    HH. The journey continues.

  4. Delight as Callum McGregor agrees new Celtic deal

CELTIC are delighted to announce that Callum McGregor has agreed a new deal which will see him remain with the club until at least the summer of 2023.

The 25-year-old midfielder, who is a succesful graduate of the Celtic Youth Academy, made his 200th appearance for the Hoops last weekend at Easter Road, and followed that up with his 201st outing in the 3-0 victory over Motherwell on Wednesday night, a victory which saw the Hoops return to the top of the Premiership table.

Callum made his first-team debut on July 15, 2014, in a UEFA Champions League qualifier away to KR Reykjavik, marking the occasion with the only goal of the game. It’s one of 34 goals he’s scored for the Hoops so far, including memorable European strikes against Bayern Munich and Zenit St Petersburg, along with four Glasgow derby goals.

The point of the SFM blog is that to let the JPDT ” drift” when there is no reason to based on facts brings in a term sometimes used by Paul ie “moral hazard”. Surprised it has not come up.

I think that far outweighs any technical or legal points that might have caused a referall outside the JPDT.

The SFA have all the information required to come to a conclusion, as have Celtic.

The SFA had it at 25th June and barely a fortnight later they jumped the CAS ship. Celtic got their copy later that week.

I reckon they have employed an Actuary to estimate how long the Res12 guys might live and are hoping the grim reaper will rescue them from their cowardice.

For whatever reason society finds itself governed at all levels by folk who lost their moral compass in search for God knows what, certainly not salvation.

  6. Re the discussion about Ntcham.

Agree he was better last night in a more advanced role. The challenge about him playing in the sitting role is that IMHO he isn’t as good as Brown or CalMac at retaining the ball, and he hasn’t the same energy levels these guys have.

This doesn’t detract from the obvious qualities he has, thinking back to the Rangers* game @ Celtic Park. He ran the show that day (from a deeper role too if I remember correctly), but that’s been the exception rather than the norm.

Personally not convinced he really wants to be here.

    Anyway – 3 games in next 10 days, 9 points please ;-)

  7. Callum McGregor has gone way beyond the “neat” footballer of 12 to 18 months ago.

His touch deserved that accolade but he has improved in all other areas to make him worth building a team around.

Glad he has made a longer term commitment.

  8. Imagine if Scottish football was beginning from scratch and you were trying to sell it to an investor as something that would be attractive to a paying public.

What would the sales pitch be.

    1. We will play in the months when the weather is at its coldest and wettest.

    2. Your ticket will allow a supporter to entry but at a date and time that you might not be able to attend.

    3. Referees will be selected from a small gene pool which means quality is not assured.

    4. Rules be more guidelines than actual rules, changed as and when circumstances require it.

    5. Food will be of average standard but priced on a quality basis.

    6. There will be no accountability to supporters (a major selling point) so they can be squeezed until club loyalty suffocate’s.

    Anything I’ve missed?

To quote from Soccernomics “As oil is to the oil industry so stupidity is to football”

  9. Great to hear Calmac has signed a new contract unti 2023. His positional awareness and distribution is .excellent. Last night he was in central position and received ball from the left, first touch was to move the ball over the heads of mudderwell to acres of space for Tony Ralston to run onto. No tippy tappy in midfield but knows whats happening around him. My new hero

    From a Celtic perspective. Yes.

Traffic management on match days is a joke.

Parking is totally insufficient and will probably get worse.

Transport to and from CP is akin to victorian levels and you will need the characteristics of a mountaineer/ deep sea diver to walk from a ” nearby” train station.

    —–

Great point and i thought the same at the time it happened. If I may expand on the detail for those who weren’t there or haven’t seen it using other methods, we’re talking about Benkovic seeing the ball out for what would have been a goal kick to us, quite close to the left back corner flag. Well had us “pinned in” with Ben, Izzy and one other Celtic player (can’t remember who) swamped by 3 maybe 4 Well players.

I think Ben, Izzy and CalMac extricate us from the tight spot (did CalMac ping the ball up to Eddie?) which, as you say, saw us break away with Forrest being unlawfully prevented from running in their penalty box.

Still cant understand why there was no booking!

  12. Celtic are set to confirm the signing of American full back Manny Perez on January 1 after he impressed on trial.

The 19-year-old currently plays for North Carolina State University and has represented the US at Under-20 level.

He has spent the last couple of weeks at Lennoxtown and has impressed Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers.

And he’s agreed to sign for the Scottish champions, pending a work permit which he will have to apply for.
