I was hoping to see some more changes today than we saw. It would have been good to rest Broony, Calmac and Forrest and see Rogic and Sinclair. At least NtCham got a start.
I thought Ollie was MOTM followed by Broony and Hayes. But there wasn’t really a poor performer as we’re playing to such a good consistent level.
I really enjoyed today – apart from the erratic refereeing and the usual fud-like behaviour from standing section. “Shove your poppy up your arse”. How grown up and dignified eh?

Solid perforce today. Just noticed Motherwell did not manage a shot on target. And we have managed 4 clean sheets in a row in the League. In Lennys first spell during his final season i believe we set the League record for most consecutive clean sheets. This team is looking super solid and that bodes well. I thought the forward players played within themselves today and done just enough. The Livingston game feels like a lifetime ago, i said at the time we would bounce back because we always do but to have won every game since was beyond expectations. A well earned rest over the next fortnight then safe in the knowledge that the next phase up to New year will be absolutely vital.

I thought Celtic set the tone before the minutes silence by announcing exactly how the Wars had impacted upon Celtic players of that time but also their families and I’m sure also countless supporters were either killed in service or had family members affected. The conditions during the world wars are unimaginable. Whilst the poppy has been hijacked as a political symbol in recent years it originated in 1921. I don’t wear a poppy for my own reasons and everyone has a right not to wear one and should never be pressured or forced to wear one. And that is where the debate should end. It was heartening today to see some of the old Celtic values shine through when the ‘shove your poppy’ singing was met with a chorus of booing. There was no need for that song whatsoever.

The cringeworthy ‘shove yer poppy’ was orchestrated and sung bu=y those at the front of the safe standing section, the area where most of the Green Brigade are housed. The majority of ths standing section, including Yours Truly, did not join in, I can assure you.

To be honest i was happy Neil took over when Rodgers left and was open minded about him taking over permanently as I did not see many alternatives. I didn’t agree with ‘how’ he was appointed at the Scottish Cup Final but backed his appointment and have backed him since. After the Cluj game he did a presser on the Friday and got absolutely slaughtered for it. Given Neils track record and service as a player, which you cannot do justice to, i was taken aback at the criticism he received. It seemed like folk were going out of their way to slaughter him. I think everyone now realises Cluj are a more than capable team. For Lenny to have come back from that in the manner he has tells you everything about him. One thing i will say is I am surprised at how calm he has been on the sidelines since he returned given how volatile he was at Hibs. And one final comment, the much maligned John Kennedy deserves credit too.

I was watching a game today that had a minutes silence before the match – could have been Bundesliga/ La liga? Watched about 6 or 7 games already today. Gerry,
that round will have to be the eternal rubber tenner (more a 12er, or 15er these days). Back in the eighties i to meet up every few months with a good mate although we lived at opposite ends of the country. I would turn up at his unannounced, or he would turn up at mine unannounced. One or the other was usually skint (both spent way to much time in bars then 😜), is I’d “lend” him a tenner, he would “lend” me one. One night, well aboot four in the morning , after years of this he says to me, “who’s turn is it for the rubber tenner?”, well maybe it was the African Woodbines, but we laughed for hours. I still laugh thinking about it now.
Think we’re in the same loop with that round… if I ever manage to another Hoot again.

My father served in WWII, as did my grandfather in the first.
My dad, despite being employed in the mines, a reserved occupation, volunteered and served in various theatres.
Disrespecting a minute silence to remember them is a slight on their memory as far as I am concerned.
As a wean I remember him observing the tribute when the ceremony used to be heard on the steam radio.
I appreciate that the poppy symbol has been shanghaied by some factions to glorify war, but I don’t think we should necessarily walk away from remembering those who gave their lives in futile wars.
