  1. If we had been top of the league we would have said about yesterdays game, another three points at home. We weren’t and despite winning we can see once again why we aren’t. Good play at times, effective pressing in the first half but thankful for young Welsh’s early goal, though both Edouard and Turnbull had good heading chances, the latter fouled at the time. Motherwell played a strange game, not as effective as Hibs or Livingstone, and just as brutal as under their previous manager. Well if you know you will get away with it why not? Panic in Detroit at the end though. Taken us until February and eight games in to get two wins in a row tells us all we need to know. When we needed to put our rivals under pressure we have failed to do so, referees haven’t helped mind. Or rather helped them not helped us. Now helping them over the line in every game. Won’t blame Lenny on that score, stood up before, got hung out to dry.

Big week in terms of future of European competitions. Clubs due to vote on new format from 2024 this Tuesday, to be ratified by Uefa in April.

Most likely proposal to go through would see CL participants increase from 32 to 36 from 2024, with teams guaranteed 10 instead of 6 games presently.

Got to say I was hoping Celtic would benefit more out of CL/EL revamp. That being automatic qualification for either competition depending on league standing. It doesn’t sound clear if that will happen automatically but rather our qualification will continue to be influenced by co-efficient.

There was also talk last year of coefficient system changing from country based to individual club record and history. Not much mention on that recent, however.

New European or 3rd competition mooted too & named the Conference league. Should at least make EL more competitive in group stages while giving likes of Aberdeen, Hibs etc more guaranteed euro games.

    Cwmbran Town 0 – Celtic 6, – August 1999, under John Barnes I think.

And played at the old St Ninian’s Park if I remember rightly.

  8. I am missing a team from Ireland, that Iactually posted pics of a few weeks ago, wqith the fighting in the crowd, and the game switched to Dublin, and now I cant remember,

also for wales did ICT change their name the next time we played them ?

  9. 2 for Ireland, Waterford, the 8-0 game, and Cliftonville, the famous picture of the Solitude and fans on the mesh.

  10. I remember a euro game played in Dundalk against ? Wild goings on, hard game cannae mind the score, sure Danny McGrain played, 76/77 ish.

  11. Did Celtic not insist that ntcham started every game – I’m sure he’s in the stand tonight supporting PSG

Actually was at the game in Dundalk with my father. Dundalk should have won it with the last kick of the game.

We had a helluva support down there In Cardiff that summers night. Remember the ground being in a really built up part of the town, like a lot of stadiums were in those days. Lot of pubs around the place, all packed.

    Great night!

Foden is developing into a great player.

    Good engine on him

  20. The biggest crime in football is match fixing. Rangers and now sevco are fortunate that they don’t need to bribe referees. Most of them are sevco supporters and the referees who aren’t are too scared to give decisions against them. You offend sevco at your peril.

The biggest crime after match fixing is playing incorrectly registered players and rangers did this on an industrial scale.

Add to this list of criminal behaviour is receiving a eufa licence from the sfa when clearly breaking the rules.

Hopefully our new CEO will confront the liars and cheats who run football in this country.

anyway Dundalk game was a pain in the arse because of the RUC. Got to Larne herded to train, off at Belfast was even worse. Was supposed to get off at Newry and meet relatives, naw you’re not they said.

It pished all day so spent afternoon in the pub🍺🍺🍺

  22. Sorry just catching up, I went with the JFK from Perth, Terry O’Donnells bus. I remember after the game the bus left straight away so we were in Larne by midnight and having to wait outside at the ferry terminal in the freezing cold with the RUC watching over us whilst carrying machine guns.
