AN TEARMANN @ 9:58 PM – Awaiting your thoughts. Sharing perspectives helps find common ground. There’s a few folk on here who should give it a shot. Maybe we would find some of that unity that keeps getting mentioned. Nah, it’ll never catch on.
BLOGGA @ 8:14 PM – Gaslighting? Yer at it!
The majority of Celtic fans regularly access the internet for their fix of Celtic news – they would’ve needed to avoid clicking on one of the many links to the BW stories. So, I dismiss the notion that they don’t know what is going on. The GB (not my mates incidentally), met with BW in an effort to resolve the well documented issues related to the ban. I already did spell out the illegal position BW is supporting, but to quote him directly: “There’s also strong concern from the police about anti-police activities, photographing police, pig watch campaigns and so on within the ground”. The reports have indicated that as part of the terms floated, the GB have specifically been told that they cannot “photograph police”. This is the reason why I labored a potential solution for that point, in an attempt to demonstrate how they could find some middle ground.
I don’t know that I would use “trampled upon” type rhetoric, but, the police making this a condition to lifting the ban is absolutely in contravention of the Human Rights Act 1998 (Article 10 – Freedom of Expression). If the GB need to lawyer up in order to get this resolved, I’m confident that they will have no problem finding someone to represent them. While also noting that if they need to take that step, then BW has demonstrably failed in leading negotiation to find a solution.
An Tearmann on
Gedinte.will do a paragraph at a time.
I don’t know all of the issues, but the one to which I make specific reference is the requirement that the GB cease with their unfortunately named “pig watch”. It’s mildly offensive, but perfectly legal behavior. Give it a new label, and turn it into a point of compromise or even a means to promote agreement with requirements. Perhaps confirm the headcount for police and stewards that will be in their section, then the GB are assured that adequate policing and stewarding is present to assure fan safety. The GB should be free to document their presence, and nobody should feel attacked or offended. Simple.
Breaking that down, the Celtic fan group have an issue with police and stewarding.
-Calling a polis a pig isn’t unfortunate G thats common knowledge in any council scheme alas as far as it being used against part of the licensing body(the polis) i would suggest may/may not be mildly funny the unfortunate part is its they are wanting to carry on, sadly they will but on the outside where they are now with 4 league games left.
-The celtic group want autonomy for their section,
control of policing and stewarding. They wont get it.i am sure the conciliarity irony won’t be missed
The Group have already impacted movement of fans with north stand round away fans.i can not go round to 106 due to stewarding.i know loads who cant move to sit with family elsewhere, that was not the case last season.
To your point on a reconciliation could be construed as a smart ass jibe by a group havin a go at part of the gov body(polis)
They could be smarter
They will not be treated any different from any other Celtic fan who buys their ticket, supports the team and rules of the houseDD(our board) will have that corner blanked out on the stadia map he’ll have on his phone.its a tap on a return key!

That said, it needs to be reasonable and appropriate, and it seems that incidents have caused it to grow beyond that prior to the ban, and there are concerns over methods used.

They will be outside and that is a shame, though the fanbase share a lot of the same thinking re refugees and our ethos to the poor(emotionally)i would say it looses kudos as they choose not to adhere to rules. What makes them different?

Only one man will speak anything like the truth.
That is why Tims can’t look this man the eye never mind vote for him.
Yes, BW should be doing more. He certainly should not support a position which illegally restricts their rights, and he needs to advocate for them generally as fans, unless he is wholly committed to a position which bans them until further notice. This would effectively commit him to the mantra of collective punishment, which should surely be avoided, while emphasizing individual responsibility, holding offenders to account and ensuring due process.
——-
BW I am sure does what our board does.its laid out.
Are those rights being restricted illegally the same rights obeyed by the vast majority of Celtic fans?
Why do you deem it illegal?
What precisely is illegal?
I think Celtic fans get plenty of kudos, the group have plenty of kudos 125,4horses,lions50 alas that is fading the more they attempt to assert control over part of a stadium they dont own,the more the group cause Celtic grief with licensing gov and the polis the more remote they are becoming
Celtic I think will always deal with individuals, looking for them to follow rules the rules of house.
The groups narrative to Ultra i feel Celtic won’t deal with at all, they dont need to deal with it at moment.its outsideThey deal with Celtic and those in its culture, they have been doing that since 1888.
When the group are out i hope they review their own outlook, stamping and screaming on the outside is not heard, and as we head for a title they have a bit of pressure to meet themselves.
All just out there G.disagree away:-))

To be clear, none of their rights are currently being violated – they are banned, and that decision is supported by evidence under consideration by the club and the authorities. Justified or otherwise, for now it stands.
At the request of the BLOGGER FORMERLY KNOWN AS GM, I reviewed reported understanding of the terms for lifting the ban, and that would appear to expose a violation of their rights (as explained up above at 12:01).
I’m sure that the GB and BW (representing the club), could both do better. Truth is, on the back of the SC1/4 game, I doubt that there is much appetite for working very hard on this.
I would also agree that their star is waning, and the GB may never regain their place and priveleges as they existed before.

Monday 16th March
I had a wonderful visit today with my mother, father and Marcella. Wonderful, considering the circumstances and the strain which indeed they are surely under.
As I expected, I received a lot of verbal flak from Screws going and coming from the actual visit. Their warped sense of humour was evident in their childish taunts, etcetera.
I wrapped myself up well to keep me from the cold. My weight is 58.25 kgs today, but I burnt up more energy today with the visit. I’ve no complaints of any nature.
I’ve noticed the orderlies are substituting slices of bread for bits of cake, etcetera — stealing the sweet things (which are rare anyway) for themselves. I don’t know whether it’s a case of ‘How low can you get?’ or ‘Well, could you blame them?’ But they take their choice and fill of the food always, so it’s the former.
They left my supper in tonight when the priest (Fr Murphy) was in. There were two bites out of the small doughy bun. I ask you!
I got the Sunday World newspaper; papers have been scarce for the past few days.
There is a certain Screw here who has taken it upon himself to harass me to the very end and in a very vindictive childish manner. It does not worry me, the harassment, but his attitude aggravates me occasionally. It is one thing to torture, but quite a different thing to exact enjoyment from it, that’s his type.
There was no mirror search going out to visits today — a pleasant change. Apparently, with the ending of the no-wash protest, the mercenary Screws have lost all their mercenary bonuses, etcetera, notwithstanding that they are also losing overtime and so on. So, not to be outdone, they aren’t going to carry out the mirror search any more, and its accompanying brutality, degradation, humiliation, etcetera.
Why! Because they aren’t being paid for it!
I’m continually wrapped up in blankets, but find it hard to keep my feet warm. It doesn’t help my body temperature, drinking pints of cold water. I’m still able to take the salt and five or six pints of water per day without too much discomfort.
The books that are available to me are trash. I’m going to ask for a dictionary tomorrow. I’d just sit and flick through that and learn, much more preferable to reading rubbish.
The English rag newspapers I barely read, perhaps flick through them and hope that no one opens the door. A copy of last week’s AP/RN was smuggled in and was read out last night (ingenuity of POWs again). I enjoyed listening to its contents (faultless – get off them ! – good lad Danny (Morrison)). I truly hope that the people read, take in and understand at least some of the truths that are to be regularly found in it. I see Paddy Devlin is at his usual tricks, and won’t come out and support the prisoners…
Well, that’s it for tonight. I must go. Oíche Mhaith.

They deal with Celtic supporters and have done, since 1888.

What would you suggest they do if it remains?
Could anything be done about behaviour?
Re pig watch?
Re polis grief?
Re Stewards pile on?
Celtic are weak board wise I mean.
DD has new folk to place in control.
So things will change that is for sure.
How it affects the group will be down to them
To support the team and follow the rules.
Sadly I dont see that happening so there is a stalemate with DD/return key and various Celtic fans outside.in club terms there are bigger priorities.i want them in there again exploring our immigrant heritage and being a beacon to refugees the world over, and to carry on the world’s focus of shining a light on Genocidal child killers.
Time is running G,Celtic and the support are in selfish pursuit of a title.

Thanks as always for the diaries.

” nothing but an unfinished song ”
I’m not a great a great reader, but my daughter got it off amazon for me.

Quad @ 10:18am – Lol.
When reading your tale …
… for some unfathomable reason
… I thought of Scottish refs and Celtic players

Just scanned this article briefly.
Three things jumped out for me.
A guy who first got into this 23 years ago is still today promising jam tomorrow.
Reminded me of recent SNP pledges for upcoming elections.
42% turnout isn’t amazing?
48,500 votes cast translates to total eligible voters of less than 115,000.
For some reason I thought (wrongly) the Barca fan membership ran to 1 million plus?
140,000 members
As of the latest update, FC Barcelona has over 140,000 members, known as socis, who actively participate in the club’s governance and enjoy various benefits. This membership count reflects the strong support and loyalty of the Barça fanbase.
From Barcelona club site
In Sunday’s elections the 14,504 FC Barcelona members with voting rights will be able to choose between the candidates Joan Laporta and Víctor Font at any of the five polling stations located in Barcelona (Spotify Camp Nou), Girona, Tarragona, Lleida, and Andorra. The ballot boxes will be open from 9.00am CET to 9.00pm CET.
The electoral census is made up of all members of legal age, with a minimum membership of one year, who have not had their membership suspended and are not legally incapacitated. It is a universal census; therefore, members may vote at any of the five locations, regardless of their place of residence.

Thanks for reply
AN TEARMANN – you are saying little with which I would disagree.

Say Celtic
Say Green Brigade.
They are 2 different things.
Celtic speak for Celtic, have done since 1888
They deal with Celtic supporters and have done, since 1888.
Celtic support speak for themselves. The semantics and false positioning(in sumdi else’s house is a non starter). No course or line pursued while outside.

A unique angle and it is of some merit i suppose, giving rambling incoherent lectures on questions that were never asked.
Bluffing you way out of it is the term i believe.
