Well, once again I bounced into work today – this time on a BMCUWP-recommended space hopper :)
Reflecting on last night’s excellent result and performance, I think that BR has the tactics up his sleeve to break down teams who are set up to frustrate. Something we lacked sometimes under Lennon and Deila, but I think that is also helped by Celtic bringing in real quality (expensive) players. Sinclair was excellent. SPFL teams will double up on him throughout the season, the beauty is that means that other players who can hurt the opposition gain more space, i.e. Rogic, Roberts and Forrest.
Special word for Forrest; he ran tirelessly FOR THE TEAM. He even made tackles successfully! Keep it up Jamesie, it was great to see.
Tactically, Mark McGhee got it ridiculously wrong. By setting up with 5 at the back he invited a high pressing game from Celtic which meant that Celtic were camped in the Motherwell half. For that reason, and the fact Motherwell players were useless with the ball, I won’t get too carried away. However, you can feel something special is happening.

I don’t think McGhee got his tactics wrong. 5 at the back was to cater for our players cutting inside from the wing positions. They looked to have a decent shape about them until the first goal. We outclassed them more than anything else.
Perhaps, but they really struggled to get a foothold in midfield because of their set up which meant the majority of the game was played in between their defence and midfield.
Anyway, who cares about the other team’s tactics – Brendan more than enough tactical variation to keep us talking :)

Good Morning CQN
Delighted with last nights performance
Pace and Movement – I like that :-)
Like many I hope Brendan sees something in Liam Henderson, he could be developed aka Victor W, into a very good holding midfielder we need
I for one also have high hopes for Ryan Christie and his future with us, plus rate Stuart Armstrong if played in middle
Tells me we can move a few on, with some exciting youthful back up
I will say one word in Mark McGhee’s favour. His 5 at the back was frustrating Celtic effectively until Callum’s sublime pass to Rogic for the opener. % minutes later he went to a back 4 moving Chalmers forward into left midfield and Well managed quite a few breaks and shots, thanks to Scott McDonald’s hold up play.
I really felt during the game that they would score. They had one first half break where the Celtic defence was largely missing and a cross from their right wing was cleared by an acrobatic back heel clearance from James Forrest who had ran back 70 yards with their attacker.
Well played much like Hamilton did last year in that they commit a lot of players to defence but he also asks his midfield to get forward to support breakaways. They worked hard and just lacked quality. They could have beaten a few teams playing as they did but we made them appear, eventually irrelevant. I am not saying Mark McGhee is in any way a great manager but I could see what they were trying to do with the resources at hand. They were not as defensive as they have been in the past nor were they any where near as dirty. That, in my books, is an improvement.
I am using my brother’ season book this season until he is able to go. He is on the Home Cup Ticket Scheme. Do we need to do anything else to confirm our seat for Hapoel next week?
Superb last night, fluid and confident with players demanding the ball and quick passing/movement.
Great ball from McGregor for the goal but the long range pass for Sinclair(I think…) landing directly between two defenders in the first half, that would have put Sinclair through on goal but for a poorish touch, was sublime. Shows you how good the ball was when one bad touch and the defenders were close enough to clear the danger. With passing like that, goals and two good feet no wonder BR likes McGregor.
This team could run riot. Dembele will score 30+ if he concentrates on not trying to burst the net.
Only worry is Craig Gordon. Lucky not to gift McDonald a goal. A good goalkeeper pushes that shot to the side. Far too many mistakes – may not be a popular opinion but we have to be ruthless and cut out the unforced errors. Sign a no.1 and not a guy happy to sit on the bench.
Maybe hard to drop O’Connell if he keeps playing like this.
Morning Bhoys, We are all Buzzing or bouncing to work. Magic! Great times ahead I can feel it.
I see Jo and Simo are being linked with moves away, Both can go for me, Simo looks very cavalier or is injured, get the money back just now, Eoghan, Toure, Erik and Lustig are fine, Boyata there as well. Johanson for Ā£2m get our money back, Someone has to go and he looks tired already this season, he uses so much energy doing pointless stuff he is too tired to make an accurate pass. Just my opinion Bhoys before i get the hammer.
Brendan wants 2 more in and says still better to come, He is a very dedicated and meticulous man.
Loved Sutton chucking craigen under the bus last night on BT sport when Brendan came out. lol Funny.
Flying last night against a stuffy Motherwell team. Sinky is immense, Forrest looks like a big weight has been lifted, He has other flair players now and he can play with more freedom. Paddy being out is letting the other players flourish.
On wards to the weekend. One game at a time Bhoys.
Actually – the pie I had last night was extremely hot and I burnt my tongue. Several times. Must’ve been heated up on Big Peter’s driveway…
What have we become…?!!!

HT – Survey done, off to work….
Absolutely buzzing this morning!
Morning Celts
That was the real Celtic last night.
Even Jamesy played well.
Sinclair, Griff, Dembele, Paddy R
Those bhoys are going to cause severe pain to the cheats and bigots.
Tommy Rogic is a player.
Love it.
However, i still think the board are letting the supporters down.
Its about time they opened their mouths about the cheating.
Now would be a good time.
That scabby mob are trying to associate us with the old firm poison.
Dont let them.

To be honest I think we would struggle to put a value of Simunovic, other than what we paid for him. We haven’t seen enough to know what he is worth.
I think he needs a fair (injury free) run once he is fit. We must have seen something in him to splash the kind of cash that we did!
Our manager is a busy boy.

If we can get our money back for Simunovic then the temptation must be to sell.
Under BR centre half has become like central midfield under RD.
If Simunovic and Ambrose were sold we’d still have 6 centre halves, Toure, Sviatchenko, Lustig, O’Connell, Boyata and McCart.
When he did play, was Simunovic any better than O’Connell has been so far this season?
