When you watch those clips, observe the Motherwell number eight (can’t be bothered trying to remember the guy’s name, but his coupon his familiar from fraternising with Sevco players while getting gubbed by the fourth-tier minnows in some cup competition).
Murphy goes down and his eyes follow the ball. When he realises Maclean has mibbed for a penalty, he reacts with surprised delight.
You can hear as well as see when there is contact. He knew there was none.
Tony Stokes may make a difference. It will be interesting to see if he has the manager’s confidence now that Hooper, Sammi, Watt and Lassad are ahead of him.
I worry that we expect too much of returning players. Their weaknesses become diminished and their strengths exaggerated during their absence.

Jeezzo – just watched that again. Dramatic dive from Murphy as Wilson pulled his own leg back out of the tackle. But the booking for FF was worse – is not as if he was up trying to psych out the penalty taker – just a couple of steps off the line pointing out that the ball was very clearly not on the spot. Ref will get top marks from the Supervisor for that one. Wonder of Craigan will be making sure that Vincent Lunny looks at Celtic’s ill-disciplined behavious trying to undermine the officials.
I would like to see Lassad get a run of games with Hooper he looks like the intelligent kind of front player than Gary could profit from, Hoops needs a partner I think that’s obvious from this season stats and goals scored.
Never mind the penalty ball on/off spot issue but what about Lasley picking up the ball when advantage had been given and then getting the free kick. Should have been a free kick to us.

Seen it a few times now – looks like Kelvin read Murphy’s intent and deliberately pulls his leg back (bit theatrically) to draw attention to the fact that he didn’t touch him.
Problem is – you need to see it from the blind-side to see if any contact was made. If there was – it couldn’t have been more that a brushing together of legs – certainly not sufficient to cause a player to upend an opponent in the way Murphy went down.

Think we will win the league and the league Cup,
Anything (hopefully) can happen in the Champions league but too my mind we’ve already exceeded what I thought possible at the outset,
Definitely do not fancy us for the domestic treble,
The reason sticks out like a sore thumb, way too inconsistent,
To win the treble you have to be consistently consistent, and that’s not us this season I’m afraid,
Still as long as we win the SPL I’ll be more than happy,

Evening all.
How I wish Celtic/the SPL could integrate South American playmakers into our game. FC Porto, Benfica and others are more fortunate in that they play in a league which encourages skillful players. Our referees fail to protect our talented figures. It is a shame that Miku is the latest example of a South American toiling in our league. He clearly has talent.
How I also wish that a creative type could create a Celtic chant using Dylan’s ‘Walking down the line’. I would be even happier if they could include “Celtic Park” in the song. The melody seems ideal for a Celtic chant!
I agree with what you say now that i have seen the video evidence. The fella in front of me today was adamant that it was not a pen. when I thought Kelvin had made a rash swipe.
But, as I explained earlier, I was a long way from the incident and my eyesight is not the most reliable. I am happy to take back my cussing of big Kelvin, who otherwise played well.
Listened to the radio on the way back and it was Gary Parker doing the after-match interview- not sure if the penalty award was raised as an issue but the great save was.

Thanks lads for the clips of Gary’s goal and the Fraser’s brilliant save. Radio Scotland don’t broadcast on the Worldwide web due to contractual reasons, still a mystery to me why that is so.
Another hard earned home victory but steadily now beginning to pull away from the pack and a nice send off for the squad for the winter break in sunny south of Spain.
Enjoyed watching a re-run of the Barcelona game last night and Celtic’s performance without incurring one yellow card against the brilliant Spaniards must rank as the sporting achievement of 2012. I’m still puzzled by the 4 minutes extra time played in this game. Happy, healthy and successful New Year to all CQNers.

I think the fact Gary Parker did the post match interview on Shortbread instead of Neil tells its own story.
Neil would have probably ended up with a season long ban considering just how blatant Steven McLean was today. Nice to know he’ll be hurting tonight, knowing that his scandalous decision more or less was the catalyst for our victory today! :D
A home match from a very familiar season Celtic pressing from the opening, but unable to score.
Visitors gaining a second wind and like most SPL clubs a fair chance of goals against on the break. The longer the game goes the more prominent the ‘referee’ becomes and the sequence is now a routine Calum Murray Willie Collum Euan Norris and now McLean love it when it’s 0-0 at Celtic Park, and you can almost stretch out and touch, the oncoming controversy.
I haven’t seen a replay yet don’t really need to because there were dreadful decisions throughout the game, and McLean *with previous* will no doubt be commended for his bravery and ‘stonewall’ will be used, as he gains points from the SFA as a grade one, anti.
Fortunately Celtic have a stonewall, in Fraser Forster who made an astonishing save, and Celtic tore up the script with a fine Sammi assist and a tidy Hooper finish.
Three points will do me.

Referee was a disgrace today. At one point in the second half, he responded to the crowd pointing out that a Motherwell ‘player’ had returned to the field from behind the goal, sending him back to come on at the halfway line. So the fans had told him the rules!
