    Cheeky assault –

dear gawd it’s a sickening part of the game here

And excused only If you wear the The rankers jersey or play against the hoops

Sadly that tackle will not rate a mention elsewhere in UK -apart from Celtic blogs.

I expect in every other country that would be regarded as a criminal assault!

I wonder how many weeks per year we lose players to injuries sustained in ‘tackles’ ?

    What to do?

Bring in an entirely new group of medium ranked refs from Europe -tell them to apply same rules as their home leagues – set up an independent refereeing management service led by Continental administrators – managers and players will soon get the message, the game would change overnight albeit with loadsa greeting and grumping from the auld guard who wreck the game now.

Existing refs get to ref lower leagues with instruction on new interpretation of rules. They get with the programme or else!

Only Promote our local refs to top league games when they demonstrate ability to follow the ‘new’ rules.

Fully loaded cost of each official is approx euro 50k – x 30 officials = 1.5 m euros. We probably pay that now for match officials (5 each from Portugal, Spain,France Germany, Holland and Belgium ..but no Italians :-) there would be a rush of young mid ranking refs from those leagues to come to Scotland on 2 year contracts, renewable as required. approx £25k netto is a decent living for young aspiring match officials, who can work back into their own leagues with a significant achievement on their CV’s to commend them.

    Sadly

It will not happen – Scottish fitba fans lack the desire to force the necessary changes. We are consigned to agricultural version of fitba forever – no more World Cups or Euros – ever!

Even our non- international loving fans must realise that top players will think twice about joining our club due to risk if injury – and the crap fitba – the ones that do come quickly suss it out and that lessens their effectiveness. Izzy and Kayal have suffered to name two – someone here recently mentioned that Ghoops has been reluctant to play back to goal since he was chopped to pieces at Ipox

If we fans can see this I would love to hear what our players are saying privately about the state of the game here – and the risks they face without protection of match officials. Traditionalists may say its a man’s game, but I disagree with that view as the game has moved on – I love watching Spanish fitba and Bundesliga etc – there are aspects like diving and feigning that are alien to us although maybe not quite so much a shock after years of watching imports here.

Reform the refs or watch fitba die a slow ugly, painful death in Scotland!

    What is stopping these eejits!

    Seriously

I could set up a small team to organise European recruitment plan now – along those lines -and have the personnel in place by August 2013 – advertised, selected, contracts and relocations all in place set up with a structure of rules and regulations ( re badge Spain etc) ready to go it is not that difficult!

    Ach

C’mon Celts – get intae they mothers ;-)
