Wonderful post. I really enjoy reading people’s personal memories surrounding particular games. Fantastic read.
Incidentally, Green SMT bus???? Were you from Baillieston or more likely Coatbridge? I often got the green SMT to Celtic Park.

Yesterday was the first time for many years, if at all, that I remember the entire Celtic support spontaneously give a standing ovation to a player for a piece of individual brilliance that did not result in a goal.
Kieran Tierney is a very special talent and we are very lucky to have him.

Water Rates unpaid and then some…surely, they are not poaklin’ the meter?
Wonder when that will make a splash on the red-tops? ;-)
Young KT is pretty special, grounded as well, heard him on the radio a couple of weeks ago, still stays at home with his parents…. His words “better staying at home getting my dinner made and washing done” he added his “dig” money has went up a bit but also said its great he can make his mum and dad a bit more comfortable
KT is the player every youth player should aspire to be, not putting a lot on his young shoulders just the fact that work hard and you reap the rewards

Stivs – guy on twitter @moo_ted I think, posted it this week. He is apparently an ex pro footballer, Celtic man. He says the res 12 guys gave him sight of further info.
I have no idea of the veracity of the claims. We have res 12ers on here who I am sure could shed light.

It’s amazing what ICT missing two absolute sitters to help you win can do to paper over the cracks. Hampden takes care of itself.
Big fish coming on Wednesday.
I look forward to seeing how L5, or the SMSm as they are collectively known, attempt to undermine us, big up the Sevco, ignore the calamity that awaits their favourite team and tries to work the words ‘rangers’ and ‘old firm’ in to headlines about our champions league game.

I’ve received 1 parking ticket (invoice) for most, if not all, home games this season. I’ve ignored them, as driver is responsible and the parking company are unable to prove who was driving!

Aulheid’s latest re the Deid lot and there shenanigans set me thinking:
We have been hearing for 4 years about the s ‘not paying’ this ‘not paying that’, ‘going bust’ etc – I do have a sneaking no feeling that a lot of this has been made up or at best elaborated.
Let’s take the latest ‘two quarters’ VAT unpaid – Q1 is Apr-June – that would have fallen due in the 2nd week of August – any brown envelopes from HMRC Customs and Excise would only hit in September. Q2 is not even due yet (2nd week in November for that – Quarter end plus 1 month and 7 days) so this doesn’t stand up unless the two Qs are Q1 this year and Q4 last year (Jan to March).
The ‘demands’ re EBTs doesn’t sound feasible given that there are still court proceedings underway.
The ‘roof hingin add’ has been around for so long it is like the Loch Ness monster myth.
And now we have the Water being turned off with criminal proceedings looming – this is unlikely for unpaid bills ( businesses don’t usually pay Scottish Water direct, there are loads of supplier who operate the meter and charge bills. If this rumour does hols water :-) – then bypassing or tampering with the metered supply would indeed be criminal, but the longer it remains a rumour (like all the others) the less likely it is to be true.
I just can’t believe that Scotland is full of really honest, tax men, accountants, engineers ,office staff who all know what is going on but only reveal it in code in secret places to people who can’t do anything about it.
The truth of the matter is – none of these stories has been confirmed in the four years since zombies started to walk the earth.

VAT quarters don’t necessarily run alongside the tax year, each company has their own “quarters”
I could be wrong (not for the first time) as I worked in both HMRC & the VAT mob in RIS
Jinkys – if you work out what trfc bring in (they have no retail income, limited sponsorship) and compare to the costs of running the club you come up with a company/ club making major losses. They have no credit facilities to deal with this. They are not listed on the markets and are able to be very opaque in their financial dealings.
A club fond of statements is very reluctant to make any on the afformentioned claims of calamity.
Go figure.
jinkyredstar on
You are correct Gerry, however what’re ‘2 Quarters’ are referred to means that a significant amount of moths have passed and, like me, you will be aware how swiftly the Vatman strikes – if 2 Quarters really are overdue then action will have been taken. However the ‘unpaid VAT’ rumour has occurred at least twice before in the last 4 years – like the other issues there seems to be no output – there is only so long a rumoured pregnancy can be brokered before something has to prove it right or wrong

Ibrox will be like the old Saturday morning games – the Sevco players getting changed in the cars and taking turns to wash the kit.

And who, pray tell, asked you to be the voice of reason? :-))
I love all the conspiracy theories surrounding Sevco. It gives us an additional something extra to look forward to as well as our beloved Celtic.
Don’t burst the bubble by posting well-reasoned common sense. There’s no market for it on CQN :-))
Jinkys – if you work out what trfc bring in (they have no retail income, limited sponsorship) and compare to the costs of running the club you come up with a company/ club making major losses. Do the sums and you get a company in trouble.
The rest is just the detail of that trouble.
It’ll come out in the wash. Or the laundry.
