Good inventive display last night, great result… pressure off once again. Thought we played excellent football just overwhelmed the visitors with our tactics and quality.

All our stars are progressing very nicely methinks. We sometimes forget the age of some of these ghuys.

Well done Lenny and the bhoys…

  3. Good morning, friends, from a very pleasant, getting warmer, dry and bright East KIlbride.

A thoroughly entertaining show last night from start to finish. And great to see no less than 8 Scottish players on show – Bain, Brown, McGregor, Forrest, Johnstone, Morgan, Christie, Griffiths.

The constatnt attack, attack, attack for the last hour of the game was the best example of playing ‘the Celtic way’ in a long time. Roll on the next round, even in the knowledge that I might have to fork out £23.50 for a ticket ;-)

  4. Good morning from a beautiful and sunny Garngad

Well that was easy. Tie over now. Now it’s about game time for some of the bhoys next week.

    Well done the Griff.

Boris Johnson was baptised a Catholic (first ever PM to be so) but became an Anglican at Eton…. had he remained with the one true holy catholic and apostolic church you wouldn’t be crying in your beer tonight 😉

Last night, cruising 3-0 at half time in a Champions League qualifier I heard the guy behind me say to his mate “Our midfield are shite, and so are our central defenders”. From reading some of the comments on here after a 5 goal win I guess they must post on CQN.

  7. A few reflections from me about last night.

Ryan Christie and Callum Mcgregor were awesome and are now the main men.

Griff free kick was as good as I have seen. The keeper who was their best player had no chance.

French Eddie played well as usual but still takes his man on way too much and loses possesion more than 50% of the time.

Lewis Morgan does not really do it for me.

James Forest has yet to fire this season.

Wee Mikey Johnson continues to impress and never fails to take his man on unlike other wingers at the club.

Scott Bain stopped the pass to defender at all costs policy and was far more sensible with distrubution.

    VERY PLEASING 90 MINS.

  8. Good morning CQN,

    LAZYDYNAMITE

To that summary, I’d add that…

    Broony was typically imperious.

Nir was (mostly) tidy and v imaginative in his fwd intent.

Big presence Kris was totally untroubled.

    Lewis can still come good.

And Boli – virus aside – is showing traits of a high plains drifter.

  10. Delighted for the Bhoys, especially The Grifster.

Wins like that build confidence, spreads The Love and sets us up for the tougher challenges ahead.

What’s the news on Mbombo btw ?

    HH.

  11. I read a lot of posts on here saying we are “not prepared” for CL qualifiers.

My understanding of their definition of prepared is all about players being signed. There seems to be a belief, perhaps by those brought up in the David Murray years, that being prepared involves throwing lots of money at transfers.

But let’s look at our top performers. Christie we could not afford him if he was somewhere else just now. Prepared with Christie has taken years as it has with macgregor, brown, ayer, johnson, tierney, forrest – all players we could not afford if we hadn’t taken years to prepare.

To be ready for CL we need to be working years ahead. People don’t like to hear this but we need projects because it’s the only way for us to compete at CL level. Ajax are the same just better at it than us.

“not prepared” is overstating it a bit, more like not as prepared as we could be.

Enjoyed my trip to Celtic park last night. I though the Estonians look poor even in the warm up but that was the opposition and the team gave them a torrid time.

    Enjoy your day everyone.

I’m with you on Lewis Morgan.

The stark contrast Mikey Johnston vs Lewis Morgan is distinctive.

Young Mikey is decisive in his play. Eliminates opponents with ease. Creates clear and menacing danger.

Young Lewis Morgan… I feel he runs up to his opponent, and the very moment he gets touch tight to the full-back, a slight tussle will result, and he never, never ever comes out with the ball. He neither has the pace, the skill, and certainly not the strength to beat his opponent. And last night that was some less than average Estonian player. He still couldn’t get the better of.

    Terje

Yeh – sure looked physical. But…“He was feeling nauseous, feeling a little bit light-headed and crampy in the stomach so we took him off as a precaution.” Lennon confirmed.

    Don’t shoot the messenger.

  16. 5-0 victory and no posts from Sydney Tim ( unless I have missed them?).

As is to be expected,I agree with some of the views expressed on here and disagree with others.

    a) I felt it was the quality of Griff`s free kick rather than absence of same in the keeper that resulted in the goal.;

    b) Even at 0-0 , I had no concern re a comprehensive victory. I felt we were a class ( or two ) above our opponents;

    c) Calmac and Christie were superb, Broonie and Ajer not far behind; Morgan and Johnston give me confidence;Jamesie is a top player; The Jury is out on Boli ; Eddie is very talented but sometimes frustrating; Griff looks very sharp and I feel more goals will soon follow last night`s excellent effort;

Final word. Had we paid twenty million for Nir Bitton, last night`s silky performance fans would have have had fans saying they could see why . Even then , one miss placed pass resulted in groans all round. Nir and Jamesie are allowed fewer mistakes than others.

Maybe Lewis was not on his best form last night but I saw him play against Sarajevo and Rennes and I can assure you that he has beat players with both trickery and speed.

  18. Oops !

`Final word. Had we paid twenty million for Nir Bitton, last night`s silky performance would have had fans saying they could see why . Even then , one miss placed pass resulted in groans all round. Nir and Jamesie are allowed fewer mistakes than others.`

  19. Lenny must have been very confident of a win last night as he was playing around with the Back 3.

Nir Bitton had been playing at the centre previously where he could see most of the game in front of him (he does have a weakness in letting balls go over his head without being aware of his cover) but last night we started with Bitton (RCB), Jozo (CCB) and Ajer (LCB).

At half time- Jozo and Nir switched positions but Kris remained awkward-is in the LCB role.

Until Julien slots in, I would have though that Ajer, Bitton and Jozo was the more orthodox deployment.

  20. Hunderbirds are Gone on

I said before the game that I would have been happy with 0-0 (the nil in the away team box, being the important number, when you play the first leg, of a two legged tie, at home)

But 5-0 is good too 🙃

    🍀⚽️

  21. SFTB…

I watched the Rennes and Sarajevo games also.

I remain unconvinced. However, I know realistically there are tougher tests ahead. The proof will be in the pudding, and time will tell if young Lewis can bring anything to the party.

  22. Hunderbirds………………………..

I’d read some of the comments from folks who obviously know a bit about the game, sayin’ we’ll do thum and score a few etc etc ………….so, as if to copper-fasten my inept understanding of the game I was thinking we’ll struggle to hit form or rhythm…………………………..I clearly know nothin’, thankfully.

Really happy for Neil and the Bhoys.

  23. Is it feesible, we could see, Shved, Jullien, Bayo, and Kouassi, in next weeks away leg ?

  24. Thank you, Celtic, for last night’s performance.

Imo, we have improved from last season in the way we play (I know the Estonian team weren’t the best).

Again, imo, our captain is playing the ball forward far more than he has been doing in recent seasons. As a result, we are moving forward generally at a quicker tempo.

I hope there is a regular place for the likes of Bitton and Rogic who are among the best passers of the ball at the Club. We need to look after the likes of Callum MacGregor, who is our main man, and Ryan Christie (who was deservedly booked last night).

Regardless of the opposition, every Football game has three possible outcomes… and they are a win for team A, a win for team B, or a draw. Every game, regardless of the perceived standards of the participating teams before the match.

If it was any different, there wouldn’t be any Bookies left.

    🍀⚽️

  27. Fellas (and I’m ususally on the harsh side from my critiquing) let’s cut Boli some slack on last night.

The unconvinced and the feeling ill might be a correlation surely?

He was a bit wayward but what I like about him is he is quick to release the ball and keep it moving. Not gonna give up quite yet…
