    Very happy wioth our preseason

    Looked good, fast and physical

Very pleased with today’s showing. A good victory and a clean sheet.

Jenz impressed with his defensive play and distribution. Bernabei improving with each outing and showing real pronise. Mooy looked off the pace but clearly needs a few games to get up to speed.

I see the new, magnificent, runaway Rangers lost today at home. How did that happen?

Hatate is a star in the making. He will slaughter SP defences.

  3. There is a paradigm shift in our approach to pre-season (and the last winter break), from all others in my Celtic life.

Underscored by a quiet Aussie, exercising basic common sense and not hampered by unhelpful egos.

Very hopeful as we move forward.

Celtic unscathed by rich English country bumpkin cousins.

Big team, wee team complete with Evil Genius commentary interest, made for a pleasant afternoon, viewing. Chris Sutton easily fits in the greatest signings of all time, top list, but calls it like a supporter. We’ve been doing it since the Coronation cup and despite the disparity that came long before parachute payments, lowly Norwich couldn’t lay even a friendly glove in Parkhead.

Celtic oozed class in a routine win with the probables given a good run by some possibles. It’s a formidable squad when Celtic can theive Hatate O’Riley and Turnbull who stand beyond Tierney price, but at a no need to sell club.

This is the difference and where ambitions will be judged ? Some people are building a side here, AP has turned Celtic upside down with seventeen or so signings. Coaching department has been enhanced and Celtic stand up well, in silky football terms.

A contrast with previous seasons was craved, and it’s now before our eyes, don’t hold your breath waiting on a ‘clugger’ he isn’t coming and doesn’t fit the AP football philosophy.

Thought Maritz looked composed and good on the ball.

Would have liked to have seen him tested with a few long, high balls down the middle to an ugly brute of a centre forward though.

  6. Ok so it was only a bounce game but it was perfect today.

Good the first team got 55 minutes together.

Good the second team who finished actually seemed like a team capable of beating the team we started with last season. A measure of how far we have come.

Good to feel the positive vibe in the stadium. Decent crowd for a practise game really.

Worth noting that unlike spurs who have 2 weeks until their season starts Norwich start next weekend in their league.

Nice to see some of the new guys in the flesh and to watch their work ‘off the ball’ not just on it.

The wee Argentinian will have an impact for sure. The big German lad looks keen also.

Collum had an interesting match also.

I really enjoyed the day out at Celtic Park.

I can’t recall such a buzz of anticipation for any season for a long long time.

  7. Bournesouprecipe

    Great point re the bench.

Harry K seemed very engaged with all that was happening. Often calling the instructions.

  8. Surely no one was critical of todsys attendance ? I would have said around 30,000 which strikes me as being pretty decent with many season book holders still on their hols.

  9. !!Bada Bing!! on

SAF changed his assistant manager plenty of times to freshen things up,Kidd,Phelan,MaulensteinMcClaren, Portuguese guy as well, maybe AP will do the same

  10. I was impressed when all the subs came on they looked more of a goal threat IMO.

GG sure shakes up defences, all in it was a good display.

Yes there a ST holders on holiday however there are those, daughter and I included, have no interest in friendlies.

Mind you offered our tickets as a freebie but no takers from our CSC.

  12. Re THE WALTER TULL CUP.

The story of the fella himself is one of Victorian and Edwardian times, he could come from a Dickens book. A black kid born into poverty in 1888, loses his parents, goes into the care system of the day (in Bethnal Green no less, I wonder if he encountered a certain Brother Walfrid) , finally adopted by wealthy-ish people he goes onto play football (as did a brother i think ?) gets to become britains first qualified black dentist, plays for Tottenham, goes into the army as an OFFICER , dies in battle a war hero.

He did sign for Rangers, but never played for them, sadly dying before he could make an appearance.

I wont disingeneous for them claiming him as one of their own, but ……..

    ———————————————

From the age of 9, Tull was brought up in the (Methodist) Children’s Home and Orphanage (now known as Action for Children) in Bethnal Green, London. Edward was adopted by the Warnock family of Glasgow, becoming Edward Tull-Warnock; he qualified as a dentist, the first mixed-heritage person to practise this profession in the United Kingdom.[5]

I had assumed it was the Water Naesurname trophy.

    Excuse my ignorance.

  14. Tom McLaughlin on

Last night I was out watching Hibs Youths in a bounce game in East Lothian. My nephew was playing. I met an old acquaintance who played for Hutchison Vale alongside my son back in the 90s. He is one of the Hibs youth coaches. He gave me two interesting bits of information.

Hibs employed a guy in his 20s to manage data and statistics concerning many aspects of the club, including logging disciplinary and suspension details for every player through all levels at the club. It was his job to tell the management who was ineligible due to suspension and for how long etc. It was this guy’s oversight that led to Hibs fielding a banned player v Morton.

It happens, but get this. It turns out the same guy made precisely the same mistake while employed by Livingston FC, resulting in the club being heavily fined.

The youth coach also told me that Shaun Maloney is in talks with Celtic about a role at Celtic Park. He either couldn’t or wouldn’t tell me what sort of role. I have to admit to being rather sceptical which is why I decided not to mention it on CQN last night or this morning. I changed my mind on seeing Maloney in the directors box this afternoon.

Would he be happy with a coaching job at Celtic, I wonder.

  15. I hope yon ragers fans congratulated the tottingham hotspurs chappies on their 55 winning of the Walter Tull cup 😜

  16. bigrailroadblues on

Good evening all from the Braemar Bar. Me and thelurkintim enjoying a post match beer. Or 8.😂

  17. anita mcnita on

Maybe Maloney was trying out a new treatment table that Celtic may have acquired?

  18. That was my first visit to Celtic Park this season. Thought it was a good game. Didn’t think the wholesale changes in the 2nd half were half as bad as I had been led to believe listening to folks on CQN commenting on the previous games. The new CB looked the part and Turnbull scored a fine goal.

    Let’s get behind the team.

Wasn’t a great attendance. Hope we sort things out so that next preseason friendlies can be attended by those who are on the season ticket waiting list and children, who might not otherwise get a chance to see Celtic live.

  19. Went on to you tube ,they had a video of the front of the main stand and there media room ,one thing I’ll say there indoor team know how to present Ibrox and over at Murray Park while looking at Celtic Park that dirty artificial grass in the front of the main stand, absolutely filthy, where as over at Ibrox spotless, in my opinion it’s about time the board change the stadium’s manager and them that look after all things maintenance surely that department have a good cash maintenance ,how much I don’t know but if’s reasonable then to me it’s being used properly, have a look on You Tube Spurs manager gettin his photos taken and take from there ,if there is to criticism to me then I’m up for it .

  20. TMcL @ 5.44

Supporters who couldn’t get tickets complaining about the half ersed attitude of those with tickets who went.

Supporters who couldn’t get tickets fuming at those who had tickets but couldn’t be bothered.

Not a great way to start the season.

  21. !!Bada Bing!! on

Blackburn and Norwich as part of your ST,isn’t great……attendances tell you that, lucky if 25k at either game

Hope TLT is having free beer since he is in the company of an owner of a winning racehorse

    You canny hide money

  23. PCS @ 7.15

The changes were much better organised / managed.

60 minutes swapped over with all the first teamers.

75 minutes swapped over with experienced pros and squad members with potential.

No B teamers involved so things were a lot more focused..

  24. TIMBHOY163

I like you mhate but, don’t be bigging up the huns.. their shithole is a shithole despite what you see on any video produced by thems .

    hh all the best.

  25. not long in from the game , hatate was magnificent , closely followed by our CMcG , JF on the left wing is a waste of time , mooy looked like he came down out of the stand for a game , don’t think imo it was right to send him on until he has a full pre season but that’s the managers decision.

  26. Personally I thought todays opposition was perfect for pre season warm up. Most folk I know ( including myself ) offered any spares out to potential attendees and had few / no takers.

Maybe some would prefer qualifiers to be included in the season book ? Breaking news is that we haven’t got any of those. I would take that any season tbh.

I thoroughly enjoyed it today. Buzzing for next Sunday. 8 more sleeps.

  27. watvhing the news there,

i find it such the funniest thing that people wanting to go to France across the channell are turning back cos the quese are too big and waiting times too long

“and how did you vote on brexit”

“two different things mate, whats that got to do with anyfink”

  28. We were a class above Norfolk FC — talent and ability.

Still have issues with our lack of bite — work their gk.

Great build up play but an after you Claude attitude to shooting / scoring.

RH is currently 90% of the player that could run a CL final.

Walked and jogged his way through the game — some schoolboy howlers but was different class at times.

No wonder Norfolk FC get relegated every second year — KMcL is honking.

  29. MM,
