I felt our players, all of them, worked as hard as they could. I also felt that the improved second half performance was down to more composure as well as better directed, rather than increased, effort .

    Cheerio for now,

Anyone criticising the team needs to realign expectations.

We have the player’s we have.

    We are building and developing.

However we can never be a major force as long as we play in a Scottish League.

The world has changed since 1967.

Reading back, I have to agree with you. Their fitness looked superior to ours.

Now we can never hope to match them financially, but where we can match them is in world class training facilities.

Correct. Everyone is entitled to be mightily miffed at getting gubbed-none more than the players,I expect-but a bit of realism is helpful.

The only real chance we had last night was that they were still too new to each other to properly gel,and additionally catch them on their worst and our best night.

Well, billion pound teams play like billion pound teams sometimes. Like last night.

    Them’s the breaks.

Could pessimism beat optimism in a square go?

Pessimism isnae on the table. Leads to mental illness, imo.

That’s not to demean mental illness in any way, just imo. How horrible must it be to go through life expecting the worst, and when it doesn’t happen, just think-wait…

Not for me. I’ll take pragmatism every time, and optimism in a bookies.

I find it hard to understand that any Celtic fan no matter how optimistic couldn’t see last night’s result as a distinct possibility.

We all hope for a bad day at the office for PSG combined with the game of our lives from Celtic. That may have earned is a draw at best.

The reality is we didn’t play that badly..but our performance no matter how good ( within the limits our own potential) would have a marginal impact when we come up against a full firing team of PSG’s staggering quality.

Loads written and said about Neymar..he’s the world’s highest cost player and an absolute genius footballer but he looked like one of many in last night’s team. They had 7 or 8 motm contenders.

We won’t be last team to get a CL lesson from PSG…I could see them giving a few teams 5..

  10. Last season, the squillionaires of Arsenal, were beaten 10_2 on aggregate by another team from our group Bayern, more squillionaires. 5_1 home and away.Sometimes spending the dosh just does not help you, on occasionsOn other occasions,as with Bayern, sometimes it does.

Whats my point.Fd if I know, but hopefully someone else does.

Agreed. The financial gulf is killing teams like us. Apparent from last night’s results and probably for a long time to come.

Having said that, mind our goal-Liam Millar-v Lyon? How many passes, over two dozen?

We lost 3-2 to PSG U-19s last night. You should see our second,a thing of beauty.

    I’ll try to find it.

  12. Lets not forget that this PSG team, minus,Neymar and Mbappe, beat Barca 4_0 last season.

The overturning of that incredible result by Barca in the second leg,was down to the display of Neymar, which no doubt instigated the transfer.

They are from another Galaxy, far far away.

I put a tenner on Celtic to win 3-2 on the way to the PSG game last night.

Other than being a tenner down I’d prefer if you didnt pass comment on where that leaves me.

  14. BOBBY,

Celtic have learned so much from last night.

The Celtic Support were incredible when the lads were getting tore into them.

    Hmmmm…

    Initial thought-optimist.

Second thought-a throwaway tenner,it’s your team after all.

If it was your last tenner, you’re an idiot.

If you were a pessimist, you would have backed PSG

And if you’d backed them to win 5-0,you’d be a hun!

    Hope that helps.
