  1. BBC News –

Ran*ers qualified for the semi finals of the League Cup for the fourth season in a row……………..also through…………………..

    Hehehehehehe

  2. Philbhoy

….and this from the BBC would have you wondering by how many Thistle won :

“If Celtic thought they’d have everything their own way against the team propping up the division below, they had another thing coming, certainly in the first half. Under McCall, returning this week for his second stint as manager, Partick were energised and organised, hard-working and disciplined.

They didn’t buckle after Jonny Hayes’ cross was perfectly weighted for Bayo to head home. And that speaks volumes about the improvement from Saturday’s insipid 3-0 loss to Dunfermline Athletic.

The avalanche of goals from the much-changed champions simply didn’t materialise. Some of those given a chance to shine failed to advance their cause for more regular action. Mohamed Elyounoussi and Lewis Morgan struggled to influence the game from out wide and were outshone by full-backs Hayes and Jeremie Frimpong, an impressive debutant.

Bayo came close from another Hayes cross, but it was the burgeoning Thistle who carved out the next big chance. Celtic gave the ball away and only a fine Craig Gordon save denied Shea Gordon as he galloped into the area.”

  3. HOT SMOKED

The hun who wrote that did not sleep last night as his worst nightmare continues.

The BBC sports dept is run by huns, hurting, hurting huns.

I know the truth and am content.

  4. Alasdair MacLean on

    Ach well,

When they achieve nothing again this season – I hope – then it’ll be more fun watching their mystified anguish.

  5. 3 funny incidents from last night’s game in reverse order of funniness:-

    3) The stadium announcer crediting the 2nd goal on the screens to Bayo – not Rogic.

    – either he had Bayo down for a hat trick and was trying to fool the bookies or he looked away when the ball was at Bayo’s feet and looked back to see it in the back of the net and just decided Bayo did it.

    2) Broony’s substitution. I reckon that Broony asked to get put on. Thistle had been leaving a lot on our players just after a tackle or challenge. Ntcham could have been added to the bookings for a hard slap at the back of a Thistle player after just such an incident. A minute after Broony entered the pitch, one of the Thistle youngsters tried the same trick on Broony- Scott then made his pass and made a direct beeline for the player barging him in an off the ball incident in full view of the ref. And guess what?- The ref finally gave a warning to the Thistle player!! Scott may do some daft tackles from time to time but he does for us, what Willie Miller used to do for the Dons; he intimidates refs to do the right thing.

    1) Kenny Miller finding himself in a 1:1 with Frimpong near the halfway line. Kenny took the ball right up to our young Dutchman and knocked it past to begin his sprint to the goal. Despite being only half a yard away and beginning his sprint forward, before Frimpong had turned round, he never, at any point, overtook our speed merchant. It was a glorious sight – I don’t know what passed through Misser’s head if he ever thought he could win any foot race with our guy- Embarrassing to even try.

What a great start to our season (apart from the Cluj disaster)!

  6. Alasdair MacLean on

On to Saturday …. and I hope the Dons are sufficiently disgruntled by last night’s events at Tyncastle to put in extra effort at the home of the huns.

Copy and paste from one of the other articles here:

Right-back looked as though it could be a problem position for the team following the double exit of Mikael Lustig and Cristian Gamboa at the end of their contracts in the summer.

However, it now looks as though Lennon has THREE contenders for the No.2 slot – Frimpong, Bauer, on a season-long loan from Stoke City, and Hatem Abd Elhamed, who also arrived in  £1.6million deal from Israeli outfit Hapoel Be’er Sheva in June.

The competition is now so strong the Hoops have been able to allow Scotland Under-21 full-back Anthony Ralston move to St Johnstone for the remainder of the campaign.

  8. At the start of the season I remember reading about someone taking note of all the honest mistakes that would happen throughout the season. So far every single game has had a game changing decision in favour of the hun.

That’s just from memory without any research!

  9. Obviously happy with the performance and result.

As for team selection, I don’t see what Morgan does to merit a place in the side. Maybe Mickey Johnston and Marian Shved are lacking fitness.

We all know what Sinclair can do. He should have started.

Morgan was supposed to have some suitors for a loan deal. Aberdeen were linked with him. Best to let him head out in January.

Luca Connell should have got some minutes.

    Delighted with Frimpong.

  10. Apparently Stevie G is fine tuning Ryan Jack to take him to Anfield with him

    Sweet suffering f…

  11. From etims

A couple of weeks one of the hands at the ranch sent me this, and I can now say I know what he means…

“Imagine a world where a manager has actually embraced modern football techniques.

A world of scientific based backroom staff who tell the manager when players, especially newly brought in players, are not yet ready to throw into the 1st team.

Imagine a manager who goes against his instincts and takes onboard this advice to his personal cost where he is blamed for not playing them in an important UCL qualification game.

A manager who despite this is still willing to embrace this advice and shows patience to gradually introduce these new players using all the information at his disposal.

A manager who is determined to show the doubters that his new approach will bring a new era of dominant football where players can be swapped to maximise results without any noticeable drop in performance.

A manager who is thinking not only going unbeaten domestically but winning every game. ”

I think he may be on about Neil Lennon.

  12. On Hols in Spain no link so missed the game. From highlights there could have been at least 3 man of the match awards & you couldn’t dispute any of them. Just delighted the way the season is going so far. Only for the MIBS we would be out of sight. But feck the MIBS & the Huns, just look out for ourselves, if we continue to play they can do feck all about the 9 in a row. Heartiest congrats to Jobo on new grandchild now back to holidaying.

  13. Anyone for the Hills of Donegal Celtic Supporters festival tomorrow?

    Nerves starting to kick in

    😂

  14. BADA BING,

You must have been watching a different Sinky to everyone else.No idea if he was offered a contract with a view to sell, dont pay heed to tittle tattle, rumours,or what someone in the know was told, his form was a shadow of the guy we watched previously, for whatever reason. If he gets it back,no one happier than me.

Of course Lenny could be lying,is that what you are saying?

  15. No Johan Mjallby, No John Park & No Gary Parker.

He’s opted to work with the club and work with the great coaches already here. He’s spoken highly of Kennedy and claims to lean on him a lot. Providing some continuity from the Fraudgers era. Damien Duff is supposedly very good with the younger players and Karamoko Dembele said he’s learned a lot from him.

Sir Alex Ferguson often found his assistants poached for head coaching roles. Brian Kidd, Carlos Queiroz & Steve McLaren all moved on. Replacing them brought a freshness of approach and allowed the club to evolve.

  16. Step forward Lewis Morgan. The now official,”Escape Goat” ,well on CQN anyhow.Mattters not a jot, that the team are playing brilliantly, entertaining us,scoring barrowloads of goals,”An Escape Goat”must be found.Fresh from their baying for the head of Boli Bolingoli to fill this position, also named in CQN manuscripts as,”A pig in a poke”,alongside another would be contender, the second of the “Two pigs in a poke”Jullien, their ire is now focused on,rookie squad player,Morgan.Seems the Gods of the never happy, must be appeased.

  17. TURKEYBHOY on 26TH SEPTEMBER 2019 10:52 AM

Boli had the excuse of being new. He still has improvements to make in his game but people are backing him as he was the only LB available and nobody has seen Taylor yet.

Morgan is competing for a place with Elyounoussi, Arzani, Sinclair, Micky Johnston, Shved, Forrest, Sinclair and technically Christie.

It’s probably a bit harsh considering he got an assist against Kalju & Sarejevo plus a goal at AIK.

But competition is fierce in that position. He may have a future at Celtic but I’d like to see him loaned out for the second part of the season.

  18. BHOYLO83 on 26TH SEPTEMBER 2019 10:31 AM

Anyone for the Hills of Donegal Celtic Supporters festival tomorrow?

No but I have promised myself I will do this next year – it sounds fantastic.

Have climbed Errigal twice before but never done a Huddle at the top with hundreds of Celtic fans.

    Enjoy!

    Scapegoat for what?

    Seems like a convenient buzzword.

We want to be the best we can be. There are squad players at Celtic that won’t make the grade. Thats life. At the moment Morgan looks like he falls into that category.

We’d all be delighted if he proves us wrong but lets reserve the right to comment on the strengths and weaknesses of our team/squad and its component parts.

Next time we lose a big game there’ll be people saying ‘ah but you never said that about him when we were winning!’

  20. What a great performance last night ,How anyone can agree on Jobo’s POTY beats me.

There was so much more to enjoy – Rogic and Sinky on the scoresheet, headed goals from set pieces, Ntcham looking like he want’s to play in the team.

We are setting standards that are making fringe players fight to earn a starting place in this team. What a wonderful era this is.

I love to see a calmer Lenny in the dug out – it was always in him.

    God bless the Celtic.

This will be my first time, although I have been meaning to go the last couple of years

    Should definitely be fun

  22. glendalystonsils on

Going back to WGS’ time we have fielded ‘weakened’ sides against lesser opponents only to have to bring on the big guns to rescue the game.

Not so last night . The strength in depth of the squad is as high as I can recall.

  23. Turkeybhoy- away and grow up,it’s your way or no way on your blog, the scattergun approach is a bore.
