  1. No input from me on the draw for the next round.Anyone who tells me that 2 Celticfans,or even 1,would be implicated in a fix against Celtic, need examined. Two away draws for the Huns when they are desperate for the cash, will now be forgotten.FFS,listen to yourselves..

On a different subject,I really find it strange, that we loan a player,a flair player,to Oxford.a team that are struggling to survive. The last thing they need ,is a flair player, learning his trade,in the hell that is survival at all costs Englandshire leagues.A season with the likes of St Mirren, playing attacking football, would have done the boy a world of good.Better than sitting on the bench in darkest Oxfordshire.A stupid, very strange decision by Celtic.

  2. Nye Bevans' rebel soldier on

TURKEYBHOY…………………..it seems we were after the Oxford goalie the loan

deal may have something to do with that.

Agree totally with you on the draw conspiracy BS.

  3. embramike says ” Yer team’s deid…Beat it!” on

As we await the Cup QF draw, interesting from VideoCelts …

“Celtic are due to have three home matches after the split which will be Aberdeen, Sevco and Kilmarnock/Motherwell alongside two trips to Edinburgh.”

    As for the Huns …

The SPFL are facing post-split fixture chaos with Sevco likely to have played ALL of the top six clubs twice at Ibrox. Celtic, Aberdeen, Hibs and Hearts look fairly certain of finishing in the top half of the table with Kilmarnock and Motherwell battling for the sixth place.

If Kilmarnock finish in sixth place it will complete a full house with TWO teams heading to Ibrox for a third time.

As a newly promoted club Hibs will certainly be one of those clubs and although they’ve won twice at Ibrox a third visit isn’t likely to please Neil Lennon. The allocation of post split fixtures is a complex process with the priority being to give clubs an even split of 19 home and 19 away matches rather than balance up the head-to-head meetings.

  4. He is, according to the site I was on we don’t have any players at Oxford, the site could be wrong right enough and as far as I aware Oldham isny in Oxfordshire, again I could be wrong but I doubt it :-)

  5. lets all do the huddle on

    hopefully an away draw.

i think the whole talk of draw fixing is nonsense

but i do like to mention the stats when im in the right company :-)

    or the wrong company!!!

  6. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on 11TH FEBRUARY 2018 11:18 AM

A few comments about KT being singled out? How many times did a team mate get involved ? I listened to the CQN podcast with John Fallon and Frank McGarvey. Both mentioned Broony as the sole player who will get involved, start (a scrap) something. Both observed that in the Hearts game, when Brown attempted to kindle some passion, few if any of the others backed him.

*They’re not alone in identifying Broonie as our only player willing to stand up for the rest, snivellin has already let the world know and notice how he was booked early doors against kilmasonic thereby nullifying a bit of his aggression. It might be though that as captain he is given that role.

My feelings having watched soft centered Celtic sides as well as tough as oul boots that both are a reflection of the management team.

Our arguably greatest ever manager Wullie Maley, 16 Titles, 14 Scottish Cups, 14 Glasgow Cups (when it was a big trophy equal to the League Cup) and the icing on the cake the Empire Exhibition Cup, his last trophy, the European Cup of its day, was no slouch as far as Celtic were concerned.

I have written on here how he challenged the SFA and SMSM over Jimmy Quinn’s ordering off even going to the “injured” player’s home that night to interview both him and his mother. No heading to a fancy restaurant for him that Saturday night, even though he owned one, just out there protecting one of his bhoys.

Even when the SFA decided deidco were the great wasp hope and the former lord provost demagogue had decided to engage the craft in an effort tae stop us he continued on his winning ways, although the League Championships slowed down a bit the cups kept coming home to rest in Paradise.

When he was eventually packaged at the age of 70 was it because he was too old or was he just, like Jock, too big for the board. 3 trophies in his last 2 seasons hmmm.

I’ll skip Jimmy McStay as the war years were not kind to Celtic but the decision of the board to not employ “guest” players, Matt Busby was burstin to play for us, was too much of the Corinthian syndrome that has haunted the club at times.

Jimmy McGrory, one of our greatest ever Celts, management record wisnae that bad originally, he saved us fae relegation and then built a fine squad that achieved the first double in 40 years and culminated in hampden in the sun as well as 1 other Scottish and League Cup not forgetting the St Mungo Cup as well as the other “European Cup”, the Coronation Cup..

While John McPhail was already there he did bring in Bobby Evans, Bobby Collins, Willie Fernie, Bertie Peacock, Charles Patrick, the Big Mhan and the Iron Mhan, while all fine players they were no slouches either. In fact Sean actually ran across the field and humphed the thug that was shearer after he once again dumped lightweight John Higgins onto the track.

Unfortunately after October 19, 1957, time and injury caught up with some of them and others were allegedly sold by the board tae pay for the floodlights,

Jimmy was too nice for the job and was bullied by Bob Kelly, who actually stood up to the worse case of bigotry we have ever faced, the Flag, the 5 way agreement is a walk in the park compared to this, the closest we will ever get tae that is when the bank on March 3, 1994 at the urging of bader threatened tae pull the plug on us. Unfortunately for them another wee tough Celtic mhan entered the fray.

We had some very good players during the early 60s some of them internationalists but too often were we soft centres although two of our hardest, Paddy Crerand and wee ten thirty were let go as it was felt they were too aggressive. And so we won SFA much tae the delight of the SFA.

Eventually, too many small crowds and loss of face for the board saw Bob at last eating humble pie and scrambling for help and who else, 2 of the mainstay defence of his double side, not the cavalier players but two rugged men.

When Jock arrived allegedly Bob said to him that there were things that may occur that were out of our control so to just move on tae which Jock seemingly replied out of his earshot “aye that’ll be right”.

Jock was a great champion for the club and employed players who were willing to stand up and fight for it and their fellow team mates, he it has been said requested wee Bertie’s return prior tae taking the job. I always thought that big Billy as fine a young player that he was became better when Jock arrived, he seemed to have a bit more of an edge, not dirty by any means but more competitive, he also had Luggy at his side and after he moved on Brogie lol.

When Jock left, at 55, and I’m still convinced that he would not have had Bob Kelly still been alive we were fortunate that his successors Billy and Davie Hay were no mugs either and so for the next 13 or so years our only main threat were the “new firm”, that is until a move, similar tae primrose-ure occurred, and the beast arrived on the scene, more subterfuge occurred when the Ayrshire rag and bone man took over and we were back in the dark ages.

That is until a “real” accountant arrived fae Croy via Montreal bringing in the likes of Sir Patrick Sheehy, Brian Quinn and eventually Dermot Desmond and showed the game how real businessmen operate and not fly by night autocrats. He was also a mhan that stood up tae farry the way Bob did with graham and swann.

I got a bit ahead of myself there and I’m not going to highlight all Celtic managers since Billy but Tommy Burns has to be mentioned.

A good good mhan who although a wee toughie when he wanted tae be on the park was just too nice for the game and all he had to show for his endeavours in the hot seat at Parkheid was a Scottish Cup, runners up twice in the League and once in the League Cup. There was zero interference from the boardroom and IMHO we waited too long to replace him, he was burnt out by the time he left.

He was also too much of an ecumenicalist and saw the good in everybody, nothing really wrong with that, but 2 of his closest allies were not there for him when they walked out on the national team leaving the door open for Tommy. Should we be surprised, only 2 ex-Celtic managers have held that position full time and they didnae go tae the same type of school as Tommy.

WTT made a shrewd move when he arrived by hiring Murdie as his right hand mhan but if the truth be told deidco were like us in 1975 and on the downslide.

Moving ontae MON, his first singing was the big Hunskelper who said “I’m here to put deidco in their place” and that set the tone. Although we had players like Johan Mjalby, Tom Boyd, Stan Petrov and Paul Lambert who were able to stand up for themselves, witness big Dolphs’s debut when he put albertz on his erse, we were once again the victim of soft and poor management.

MON’s next move was to try and sign big Matt Elliot and Neil Lennon, we didnae get the former but Neil eventually arrived after we had lost at hades, where we were missing Alan Stubbs due to a recurrence of his cancer and Paul Lambert with an ankle injury, along with Ramon “the treble’ as MON called him.

The following Wednesday in a drab draw at Easter Road where after having a goal chalked off and just as the mitb (he who sent off Charlie Muldini for allegedly puting the heid in that cheat laffatme) was ready tae give the Hibbees a penalty MON raced up the touchline remonstrating with the linesman tae get his flag up as the player in question was offside. A defeat that night would have really set us back.

MON gave us our pride back with no interference from the board. No surprise really as when we were ready tae appoint Guus Hiddink it was DD that kyboshed that in favour of the Kilrea mhan.

WGS and NFL especially the latter fought in our corner and by the time Ronny came sevco were a spent force, but and this is a big but they did beat us on penalties in the SC semi which led tae the Hibbees finally winning the cup and also beating up sevco supporters or so level 5 say.

So here we are with a very good side, an excellent manager but no Wullie, Jock or MON, not on the skills side but the aggressiveness, and then again mibbees that’s what DD wants and why mibbees NFL had to go, but in saying that mibbees that’s why chelski and manure are failing this year as the aggression their managers portray just disnae seem tae be there.

  7. I watched the Man United game earlier, with the exception of Sanchez I couldn’t believe how gutless they were and lacking in fight. None of them were willing to argue with the referee or put their body on the line. It was the same with Chelsea last week. It’s the way the game is going and it filters through the youth systems. Everyone at the top of the game is spoiled, a defeat is just another game, it’s accepted. Gone are the days when it was like losing a pint of blood.

If you’re honest with yourself, how many of those Celtic players are willing to put it all on the line? I’m not talking about not trying or questioning professional commitment. One of the reasons why the punters love KT and Paddy so much is because they never give up, even when we’re winning they still want more. They give their lot which is so rare in the modern game.

  8. TONTINE TIM, i love the bones of you, but where are we now, please are we just taigs tattie howkers kafflicks cant believe in this century we are second class citizens.

Businessmen like DD will not see the wee sweetie shop owners in their way, the games a bogey and the baws burst for them.
