CELTIC have fond memories of their last meeting with their Ibrox foes in the Premier Sports League Cup at Hampden.
As the holders prepare for today’s 2pm showpiece showdown in an intriguing semi-final at the same venue, they can look back to December 15 last year for a dramatic silverware success over the Govan club.
A rollicking, see-sawing encounter saw the Hoops come back from a goal down at the interval to lead 3-2 with three minutes to go.
A lapse in concentration allowed their opponents to claim an equaliser to force extra-time. No goals were added and it went to a nerve shredding spot-kick shoot-out to determine the winners.
Thankfully, the Hoops kept their nerve to fire five behind Jack Butland to claim the prize 5-4 on penalties. Kasper Schmeichel was one of the heroes with a superb save to deny Ridvan Yilmaz.
Now the Glasgow neighbours lock horns again in the same tournament at the same venue.
