Saw that, he bounced into him just after it

Much more aggressive performance by the team today

“Martin O’Neill proved that the manager is the supremo, at any football club. That’s why some supporters defend them to the end.”

Nah, it’s the difference between having a manager trying to win games and one trying to throw them.

  3. Been a mental week for us.

Its early days but what a transformation has taken place already.

Its been a breath of fresh air and i think we are benefitting from players being allowed more freedom rather than needing to stick to the robotic, orchestrated maneuvering in order to retain possession we have had to watch and they have had tried to implement.

Its also great to see them all backing each other up in heated moments. A bit of passion, players willing to fight for each other.

Feel like we have become a team again.

Its also been brilliant to see Kenny and Osmand grabbing their chances. Kenny was always on the periphery but Osmand has suddenly been given a chance and already its a wee bit of a fairytale. Hope it continues.

Think his goal was a lot more than a toe poke. Thought he showed great positional sense and awareness to time his move between their defence to finish off Tierney’s brilliant cross/pass.

Loved his wee interview after the game.

Happy days, hope you get loads more of them.

  6. Delighted with today’s outcome…our three goals were well taken.Walsh taking a lot of flak on ‘their’ forums.Ah well!

  7. Not sure if Ralston has been asked to use crossfield and diagonal crosses from deep since MON and Shaun stepped in but he has added something to his game.

  9. Callum had a lingering look at the sideline while celebrating his goal.

Hope it was directly at Raskin :)

  10. Loved young Calums goal celebration at Calmacs golf and then his own. That’s the way to celebrate goals.

    just seen

    Honda civic 3

    Red Honda ulster 1

And of course us fine folk on here will be well aware that the red hand is a gaelic symbol of Ulster.

  12. I haven’t seen any pundit highlight that their gaffer managed to have a midfield trio of Tav Pen, Moore and Antman at one point today – I’ve no idea how he’s managed to get himself into that position but it augurs well for us.

  13. So much to be positive about today’s victory not least because were are in another Cup Final, and they’re no.

(Heard on the wireless that Jamesie and CalMac could win their 9th LC medal if we beat the Saints.)

The variety of the goals we scored, and the ones we did’nt show the value of putting the ball into goal scoring areas, and no that does not mean you have to get to the byline, as many on here still cling to, it means the right ball at the right time, as shown by KT for Callum the Younger’s goal. Martin and Shaun et al, (glad we kept Gavin on) have revitalised Celtic, on and off the pitch, the supporters included, and while that does not guarantee every result will go our way, it gives us the possibility that we may well stay in touch in both the SPL and the EL as we reach year’s end. One game at a time I know, well lets keep that one game with Martin & Shaun in charge and take it from there.

  15. Listening to various radio stations last few weeks , going on about Gregg T and would we take him back, we miss him. I’m thinking no no no , he was a fantastic committed player for the hoops but he lack speed and defensive physicality. Sirrachi has it all and has that fire and tenacity and technical know how. He is better and a great foil for tierney as he get up to speed – don’t forget tierney is a winner and will time his development in sync with season needs !!

Tye failure to give Balikwisha a penalty in the final minutes was confirmation of the level of cheating on display today. If that is a pen against ralston then you must give the pen for the handball at the by line.

  18. Good Morning Fholk – Grand Day To Be A Tim.

Another Cup Final looms as Calmacs Hampden Mojo returns.

Interesting going back to 4-2-3-1 which looks to be a better formation for the available players – it will be interesting to see if Martin&Co stick with it.

Seems like most are of the view that we should stick with Martin and Shaun for the Cup Final and get the next managerial appointment right – totally agree with that…

    —-

I agree. In that second half, a goal up and a man up, we weren’t able to hold onto the ball and see out the game. In the second half, we had no control on the game.

Brendan was wedded to a style that we simply don’t have the players to deliver.

We employed him knowing what his style was then left him with a squad incapable of doing it.

His unwillingness to deviate from his system could well be the reason why he stood aside and for that, we should probably be thankful. Other Celtic managers have refused to show that level of humility and clung on till after they have torched the season.

I personally hope MoN steps aside soon because we need time for the new gaffer to bed in and more importantly, get ready for the January window.

If MoN and Shaun are here for the cup final, what meaningful impact on the January window can a new gaffer realistically have ?

We don’t have time on our side.

  20. Celtic waited till extra time to calm the nerves the support at Hampden including mine, then it was party time as the old favourites belted out a happy support sang as it departed the gangways out of Hampden

Official stats saiid 22 shots on goal, 10 on target, 13 corners and an eyewaterinw 6 yellow cards with 26 fouls (a real WTF)

Schmeichael back to his best, commanding motivating more importantly getting his angles correct blocking on rushing Govan works team players

Ralston mixed afternoon vulnerable to pace, however gave his all

Trusty had a good afternoon apart from a brain fart which luckily never resulted in a red card

Scales ran Captain fantastic close to MOTM, a last ditch goal saving tackle his highlight, Chermiti was a big troublesome physical presence both liam and Anton dealt with him well

Saracchi our South American warrior had a fine afternoon, given space in front him he is not for turning, has a wicked whip of an early delivery as well, whomever dug that loan out done us a service

Engles had a mixed afternoon sadly went anonymous second half as we lost the midfield battle

McGregor no more superlatives left, Captain leader motivator goal scorer(what a strike for the 2nd goal) battler he did it all, no one gave more for the cause, MOTM how this guy gets criticism at times is beyond me

Nygren if this man was a finisher he would be worth millions, like Engles lost his way in second half

Tounekti poor afternoon amazed MON kept him on till 66th I thought the wide Hampden pitch would have suited him, gave us nothing

Kenny a superb opening goal, that glancing header from beyond the front post was class, never stopped running lacks composure a touch, I hope he develops further

Maeda did his best work defensively Nick Walsh harsh on Daizens tackling, weak on Raskins has anybody seen the definitive lines which prove Maeda is offside for the opening goal, im sure they will appear today at some point they have had since yesterday to work on it

Forrest and young Osmand gave us a creditable threat, James unlucky with a great strike which wouldn’t bounce over the line and the energetic running of Osmand rewarded with the 3rd goal form Tierneys excellent cross between defenders and G/K

Onto the E/L and a difficult tie against top of the E/L table FC Midtjylland, can the MON magic continue

Given MON has coping superbly with all the football issues he has had to face so quickly, it really is sad that at press conferences he has to fend of questions of who and when the next manger at Celtic will arrive, as usual Big Dog and his lieutenants are in hiding whilst indulging in their fav subterfuge like Gordon Strachan they just can’t do communication, of course its not helped when get the online morons spreading malicious gossip about Iheanacho before a semi final

Looking forward to work this morning and asking the bRethren how on earth is the son of Satan the man who gave Govan works team 4 penalties in a match not one of the Brethren like his father gies piece

    aff oot and wear green

  21. AN DÚN on 3RD NOVEMBER 2025 6:34 AM

I take the opposite view on no time on our side

it makes sense to me to give MON the job till end of the season, take the surrounding media circus tent down remove the clowns, its will be club signings if any in the January transfer window last few days Big Dog signs off on them all, hopefully we won’t Geta repeat of the summer transfer window closing with two failed left wingers and a free transfer Striker needing rehabilitation, we done want a return to that nonsense, I would prefer MONs input on transfers anyway he knows a player

I suspect Bigdog likes the eye of Sauron on everybody else so it will be silence and subterfuge

  22. ADVERTISEMENT
  23. LIONROARS67 on 3RD NOVEMBER 2025 7:13 AM

My fear in that instance is that come the summer, MoN simply hands the torch over the Maloney.

Martin is not just facing questions from the press pack re his short or longer term future at, and with, Celtic FC he is facing them on here from the likes of an dun (see above) et al. And this after two key victories in conjunction with Shaun and the rest of his backroom staff. I think we will see a pattern develop on this site where those who were outraged, disppointed and or morally affronted by Dermot Desmond’s broadside after Rodgers walked away will want Martin out asap in case it proves that Dermot’s decisive intervention has proved the right one short, medium or long term for Celtic FC. No need for change for change sake, no need to get all angsty about the January window, we have all the change we needed for now. Let us concentrate on the football we have to play, in the SPL and the EPL, some terrific games coming up in both competitions (with a break after the Kilmarnock game) before the end of the year, one game at a time with Martin & Shaun et al running the show. No guarantees, but I feel a whole lot better now about the club than I did this time last Monday.

  25. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Good morning CQN

Another fine day to be a Celt.

Enjoyed watching back and reading back last night.

KT’s assist for the third goal is just terrific, drilled inside the full back, outside everyone else in the defensive line.

Takes talent to see that angle and space opening up … then executing so accurately.

  27. All above achieved without 25% of our squad value out injured and KT Hatate only playing bit part roles.

I suspect Brendan will feature in the discourse here for some time.

    Understandable.

I anticipate that discourse to follow patterns we see generally on the blog.

The gamut running from crushed anguish all the way across to good riddance …

With insightful comments, condemnation, praise and a bit of Monday morning quarterbacking chucked in for good measure.

Partly for my own sanity I try to keep it simple

Brendan added value right up to the point he didn’t.

What date that line gets drawn will be debated.

I’m very glad he was here for two spells.

I’m pleased he has left and we can move on.

While I’m glad he has gone, it doesn’t change the fact he has left a hole that, in the short term, we won’t fill completely.

    Here we go.

  29. BR’s time at Celtic had clearly run its course and in leaving, we’ve a greater chance now to play a game more suited to the squad we’ve actually got. 11 from 13 trophies will see him judged kindly imo. CalMac’s view on him will be more widely held than Desmond’s as the years progress.

Onwards now to Thursday although I’ve got plenty of hun podcasts to catch up on – starting with BBC Scotland.

  30. ADVERTISEMENT
  31. I have a dream…….and now……WE HAVE A TEAM.

Thanks to Martin and Shaun we are being entertained again. Long may it continue.

P.S. I don’t think Radio Scotland will be interviewing John Paul Dykes again any time soon. They wanted his comments on the Trusty incident, which he gave but he then went on to detail a number of incidents that went in the deid team’s favour. The interviewer then brought the whole interview to a rapid end, without any comment from himself about those incidents. They get worse and worse(or, more and more blatant).

  32. If we’re wanting opinion on when Brendan Rodgers should have left, I would say at the end of last season. Our football for most of this calendar year has been getting poorer and less and less entertaining by the week.

  33. Good Morning all.

Just finished with catching up with the blog, some fantastic posts.

However, a poster took offence to a post that I and another poster were engaged.

To that poster, if I offended you I apologise, it was never my intention.

CLUNKS, thank you for understanding that my comments were meant in jest, again, if anyone was offended I deeply apologise.
