  2. BMCUWP…

If Sevco’s trajectory continues Pollok will have bigger crowds in the coming years.Nice thought that. ;)

    GFTB…

    Thanks mo chara,appreciated.

  3. Kenny miller says their players never got to grips with the way they were set up to play yesterday. Or that maybe players didn’t understand it.

Such confidence in the new boss.

Telling you now, this is another disaster in the making for Sevco.

    DUBAIBHOY

I genuinely hope not. I hope it’s down to being a thick hun fae Baurheid.

I read an article recently where Jimmy Hill’s widow said he had raised that subject back in the 60s as head of the players’ union.

It was ignored, but sadly it seems very real indeed.

    Moonbeams,

Once again you come on with your crap “Doubting I am a Bhoy”.You can doubt all you want.I am in no doubt you are a snide. And a very unfunny one at that.Get a new script writer.

Referees?.Is this a new thing?.Have I been watching Celtic for 50 years and this has become a new phenomenon?.We have always had this playing against the scum. And,I may add, from guys that would make this present Sevco mob look like weaklings.Older fans will remember,Davis,Shearer, from the 60s.Greig,Forsyth,who would half you in two without batting an eyelid. If Wee Bertie had been on the field on Sunday, that weakling Hun Halliday would not have finished the game.

Give it back to them.Wee Bertie gave it back to Bremner,Giles,Hunter, and every Hun thug he came up against. Can never remember Danny Mc Grain taking any prisoners,or Davie Hay.

when Halliday did that tackle on Paddy,he should have been surrounded by our players threatening him with severe repercussions in the next tackle.

    TURKEYBHOY,

I am not disagreeing with you as to what guys like Wee Bertie, or Danny or Davie Hay would have done to cowards like Halliday, if they had been playing yesterday, but the fact is that any of those 3 ( and others from the past), would be sent off nowadays, with lengthy suspensions, but Celtic are not allowed to have players like that any more, even if they existed ?

Your last paragraph about Halliday being surrounded etc, is a clear indication to what I have stated above, Halliday WASN’T surrounded, and I posted last week that Hun players and the Ref SHOULD be surrounded etc BEFORE yesterdays game.

In effect you have just Supported what I posted last week as to how we should “Put Ourselves about etc”.

Don’t forget, Broony was wrongly sent off v Ross County for trying to put himself about, and it was HUGELY NOTICEABLE that he avoided confrontations yesterday, despite assaults on Paddy, Tom and KT etc….why do you think that was ?

Cos Broony knew that NOT ONLY would he be red carded yet again, by MIB who wouldn’t hesitate to do so cos he wears green and white, but LIKE LAST week after the Ross County game, we had Celtic fans on here and elsewhere saying that Scott Brown SHOULDN’T have got himself involved and sent off last week……what do think those same Celtic fans would have been saying about Broony ( or any other Celtic player) TODAY IF , he had got involved yesterday, and it resulted in Celtic maybe losing the game ?

That is why it is NOW TIME…. BEFORE this Saturday that Celtic FC make the decision to protect OUR BHOYS !

Another poster on here ( Previous page I think), claims that our players are MEN and not wee Bhoys, who can look after themselves ?

I don’t disagree with that however, due to the shocking decisions by the Refs who allow systematic assaults on our Bhoys to go relatively unpunished in recent years especially, to some degree I think our Bhoys at this present time are concerned about getting involved, and MAYBE are not getting involved ( Surrounding opposing players and Refs etc) on the instructions of Brendan ?

    I Dunno ?

Just look back at the feckin NUMBER of Ross County players last week who couldn’t wait to assault Scott Brown.after he had fouled their player, how many were yellow carded, never mind red carded by Don feckin Robertson ?

As I posted around 9.30am today and last week, the Celtic Board have to make a major decision NOW, especially IF our players are being instructed by Brendan….”Do not get involved ” ?

IF that’s the case, then our players are going into battle without the tools to stand up to the assaults, other than speed of thought to avoid being injured….. or just sheer feckin LUCK in escaping serious injury.

  6. Who’d a thunk that the geriatricos Hill and Miller would have been Sevco stand outs this season?

I don’t believe there is any truth in the rumour that they were trying to change the age range for young player of the year so that one of them could win that too last night.

Very real chance that their ‘best’ three players, miller, hill and hyndman (no, really) will not be there next season. What does that leave them with?

They are fubared and if Aberdeen and others have any foresight in their boardrooms they will be putting their new found financial stability to good use to cement their place as Celtics closest challengers.

Meanwhile Celtic can plan ahead for the Champions league. We should protect our young guns and not play them at ibrox but after that I’d give one or two 70 minutes each over the last few league games. I’d give Sinclair a week or two off, let dembele recover properly and at most have him on the bench for the cup final – hamstrings are a bugger to heal properly- bitter experience has taught me that.

    Good times for Timothy!

  7. I didn’t want to criticise any aspect of our performance yesterday because it was a time for celebration but as we all begin to turn our minds towards team improvement for next season, I feel that there were some aspects of our defence that need to be addressed. Many other posters have already made reference to some of them so I know I am not nit picking.

In my opinion, Dedryk Boyata will not make it at Celtic. Brendan has turned Dedryk around from last season and he has improved immensely since his return to the team. However, I think Dedryk’s game falls short of what we need. Celtic never let Rangers players get close enough to them yesterday to put in a tackle on them (Halliday and Beerman’s attempts on Patrick were assaults). Our players pinged the ball about from man to man, releasing each pass before their Rangers counterparts could get close enough to them to make a tackle. Having watched Dedryk recently and again yesterday, he holds the ball a nano-second too long which allows his opponent to get a touch on the ball or on him. This results in the receiving Celtic player being put under pressure because the ball doesn’t arrive cleanly as expected. I don’t think this can be coached out of him. He seems to think too slowly. I think we need to bring in two quality centre backs. I like Jozo but I think Dedryk is not quite good enough (poor distribution also) and Eryk seems to be going through a crisis of confidence.

Our defenders and goalie often keep possession between them by passing the ball around at the back. I think they are generally good at this and it allows them to get comfortable with the ball at their feet. Being brave on the ball is necessary to play at the top level of the game, especially in Europe. However, I have noticed that when the ball finally goes back to Craig Gordon and he wants to/needs to play it forward, he sometimes takes a much too casual/ lazy swipe at the ball and it results in us being put under needless pressure from the opposition. Yesterday, he did this twice. Both of his kicks were high, aimless scoops that took a long time to come down and Sevco players were on top of our players as they waited for the ball to arrive. Craig needs to sort out this bad habit that has crept into his game.

At half time yesterday, I was calling for our players to use long, through balls more often and was overjoyed when we did so early in the second half and won the penalty. Then I realised that this was how we scored the first goal also, from Lustig’s terrific pass which was superbly controlled by Moussa. Against Scottish opposition, I think we should try this more often. It pits our speedy attackers against defenders who are not always top drawer and it puts their skills under pressure. We have to be more careful in European games because the defenders are far better and we don’t want to risk conceding possession too often but with the pace of our front players I’m sure it would pay off on occasion.

Anyway, I’m sure Brendan will know what to do and will have noticed these things for himself.

I can’t wait for the CL qualifiers.
