Such is the dislocate amongst many on here, that if you give the most realistic of Roma since Calgacus, then you are seen, not on the side of the Celts & the Caledonians, but of those mercenaries The Empire so relied upon. Tant Pis. Had Paul67 been around back in AD 84, he would probably have advised, “Well may be but that does not mean that they are invincible”. (Unlike Brendanin his first season). Spoiler alert, Caledonia never became part of the Empire. Martin also got it wrong, against the Midgies, and rightly criticised on here (by me and others) as a (bad) result. But he learned, and as such gave, gives us still, a chance of progressing in the EL. Not though, if, as Wilfried did tonight, disregard the threat our opponents brought with them. Not all is lost, yet, the three teams that have beaten us in the EL, are currently in the top ten in said League, 2nd, 7th and 10th, and all will likely progress, something we most certainly will not do if we continue to approach football games in the way we have done against Hearts and Roma. Wolves got their transfer business “wrong” in the summer, says technical director Matt Jackson – while under-fire executive chairman Jeff Shi insists he can empathise with protesting fans

Executive chairman Jeff Shi added: “Maybe we sold too many players in one window. You can see the squad and compare it to last season, maybe we changed 40 or 50% of the key players.
“It’s a task to rebuild a team but the Premier League is very tough. If you can’t control the tempo and need a longer time to rebuild the team the games will punish you.”
Wolves’ winless start is just two matches short of the Premier League record of 17 games set by Sheffield United in 2020-21.
It has led to unrest and several supporters’ groups organised a boycott of the opening 15 minutes of Monday’s 4-1 defeat by Manchester United at Molineux to protest against Fosun’s running of the club.
“I’m not only a fan, I’m the CEO and chairman in the club. I have to think about how to judge the last decade in a more factual way and think about the next 10 years.”
Former Everton and Norwich defender Jackson also wants to have dialogue with fans.
“Our fans are allowed to express their views on Jeff directly to Jeff because he doesn’t duck away from the challenge in the stadium,” he said. “The expletives directed at the directors’ box are going directly to him because he is there and present.

Of course the greater responsibility for where we find ourselves lies with the board.
They hired a manager and brought him in at a crucial phase of the season knowing we didn’t have the players to facilitate his system. We’re now seeing the inevitable results and performances.
My sympathy for Nancy only extends so far though, he decided after Hearts to once again start Nygren. To once again have Tounekti and Yang as his wing backs.
Sunday is not must win for him. Nancy will be allowed to take a petrol canister and a box of matches to our season before this board step in. He’s in place to see us home in the league or to lose this league.
Sunday looks 50/50 for me. I’m dreading Tannadice three days later. We’re all over the place. Our defence looks completely lost under this system. And when you’re struggling to score as it is, that means dropped points.

That was probably the worst night ever as a Celtic supporter. It really was watch through the fingers stuff.
Our team is broken and our club is broken and those responsible should be writing resignation letters this morning.
It is nothing short of sabotage what the have done to this squad and their rainy day is absolutely in the post.
The manager may be able to salvage something ( more on him later) but the fact that we are in this position, the fact that we have gone from Munich to this is less that a year is a catastrophic failure of planning and management and there has to be consequences for those responsible. Sure it’s a lot of the same players but those that were added to the squad were not good enough and have dragged the others down with them. Most clubs try to upgrade the group, we don’t, we try to get good value and hope they might be OK.
Nygren looks every inch the £1m player he is and the two new left wingers look the same – sadly we used the negotiation technique that had us over paying for Idah and Engels and we paid £5m each for them. Incompetent doesn’t quite describe it.
It is absolutely clear that the decision to drop WN into this scenario was another terrible decision. There was some stability and momentum with MON that should have been maintained for the additional three games. The outcomes may have been the same but it was a more pragmatic thing to do and less likely to implode. Now we have lost anyway, confidence is in the toilet and WN is looking like a bad idea.
As for the manager I think he has shown incredibly bad judgement and a not insignificant dose of arrogance. To think with a few days of working a new plan into not very good players against good European opponents was workable is for the birds. It was far too much to expect and all it has achieved is to put a huge dent in confidence of the the team – poor judgement or arrogance? I don’t know, probably both. I don’t blame WN completely but extremely concerned- he has a strong rep, but not here, so I hope a little time will help him but good grief he has been handed a bag of washing as a squad.
As for the club/fans relationship I absolutely despair – if it is possible for this board to make a terrible situation worse they will find a way. They truly are a poisonous lot who are currently turning Corey touch into shit at the moment. If any of them had a shred of self respect they too would be penning letters this morning.
An Dún on
Nicholson and McKay are on the best salary they’ll ever see. They’ll won’t be resigning- ever.
Desmond is too arrogant to admit his shortcomings so a turbulent period looks to be on the horizon.

As I posted during the game Yang and Tounetki offer very little going forward but defensively offer nothing at all, to play them in these positions asking them to do that job is insanity, that’s on Nancy. What really disappointed me was the glaring obvious lack of strength and technique, this is not down to Nancy. How many times when our midfielders or forwards with their back s to goal held on to the ball, we are as weak as water yet again and hesitant in everything we do. Holding the ball up and being strong in possession and tackle is not down to the manger. How can in many cases, international players, and professionals be so poor at the very basics of the game?
I thought Donovan, Bernardo and Iheanacho made a big difference in both power and technique, to be fair it wouldn’t have been hard.

Partizan Belgrade (tight enthralling tie with a sickening outcome at the death)
Two separate 4-0 defeats at Ibrox – one against R1ngers, the other against R2ngers.
(Toothless performances that didn’t land a single blow. Left one asking where do we go from here?
In both instances …14 months later .. we were champions)
Wilfried will be smiling come Sunday if you know your history,
Felt sorry for the big guy he’s virtually managed to find a system worse for BR’s players, faster than he’s emptied his suitcase. The only thing that’s changed since pre-season is the move to manager number three, and the same players now look more confused, than the night Ajax took five in July. Roma eased up in the second half as if to take pity, the players we did sign are either missing or in varying degrees of less than Europa, never mind CL quality.
Thankfully it’s the more important League Cup final next up, against wee diddy league team, we’ve been well warned to forget Europe. A few more days for the poor bloke to settle in a new country, never mind change a football philosophy, or make Tony Ralston a good idea for an impact sub.
Whether WN is a success isn’t really the issue at the moment we’ve got much more pressing issues in Kings Park. Did the club discuss football philosophy,?ccf were the board either happy with it, or didn’t care, he was the man they wanted. The CEO mentioned in the introduction of WN, that they were confident “ the would play the type football we wanted to see “ – nobody knows.
The tsunami of criticism of the new guy led by a typical SMSM frenzy is discrimatory, after just two games, if it were to continue beyond the third, it would be a mega-tsunami, but still not toast. This is the bit where we circle the wagons?
The ‘performance’ didn’t help, neither did the ‘result’ and the singing section of the support were badly missed. Not half as much as the emptied 30,000 that exited early doors, probably saw the inevitable ‘unbridgeable gap’.
But if Wilfried wins his third game his bad start will turn good, his underlying problems however will be his squad, poor transfer windows, at least two of which, got us to where we are. Under the benchmark wingers last week Tounekti and Yang, flying wing backs this, bring on the Saints not the sinners who empty this season’s seats, and this season’s dreams.

I won’t be watching
Awoke and still extremely angry with what this monarchy is doing with our club absolutely unforgivable what has happened.

League cup final defeat to Raith Rovers , losing 3-1 to Patrick Thistle at Hampden , getting humped by PSG , Dortmund last year was terrible , take your pick.

Good morning CQN
Around grand day to be a Celt.
Tough going last night … and some more bumpy days ahead for sure.
But we wouldn’t support any other team.
Bring it on.
Ekbhoy – if I may add to you list on bad days or nights watching Celtic ….
Neuchetal Xamax (real performance low against a well coached bang average outfit)
Season 1989/90. All of it.
(In my lifetime this was the nadir)
Jesus wept, mass hysteria abound.
Back to reality….

M.O.M
Ironical Iheanacho
( a pure Brendan signing )
Danny Rohl is he under any pressure?
Any mention of it in the smsm since he came in ?
Knocked out the league cup
Knocked out of Europe tonight 1 point from 12 from his 4 europa ties
Or is it joost Wifried Nancy after 2 gemmes n 2 defeats ?
Some talk that KT expressed his annoyance at being left wide open by Tounekti repeatedly. KT was hooked and Tounekti stayed on…
CalMac did no post match interviews last night.
This ain’t looking very promising.

Measured and intelligent without shying away from our problems.
Respect.
Agree on Kelechi.
In spite of the dispiriting circumstances – he was a professional who went about doing his job for 45 minutes.
I can’t bring myself to watch it again to confirm, but from my very good view last night Tounekti chucked it for their second goal (anyone who knows better is free to tell me there was no point in him trying to track back and it was better to conserve energy).
If Martin ONeil was the coach last night ,we wouldn’t have won the match,to many players in this Celtic squad are not good enough, Engels, Tounketi,Tierney, Scales,Ralston,Bernado,if i was Nancy I wouldn’t have stayed where I was ,
There’s duck all wrong with Nancy’s formation its some players that are not good enough end off,
If anyone really believes we hired Nancy because he’s a brilliant innovative coach is desperately needing sectioned.
Look at the candidates….then look at their current salaries or what they’d expect to be paid.
I never believed R Keane to be a candidate.
Celtic FC is run now totally on financial profit. Is there any other reason we would come out of a summer window with a huge profit when the squad needed overhauled?…a smart well run club would have sold maeda for the rumoured 20 million invested it ALL and the Khun money invested it ALL and we might have a squad capable of being excited by .
Well that’s if we had the A the talent to find players and B the balls to pay for them !!!
