Why should a Celtic manager who has won a “double treble “be under this pressure, just do get it

Leigh has got BR out of jail tonight. There is no way OE is getting on the end of that.
I don’t know what OE does in training to start before Leigh every game but I simply don’t see it. He’s never a number 9. We’d have won by 3 or 4 if Griff had started.
BTW, I was on a cruise last week and had dinner with two Liverpool fans. When I told them I was a Celtic fan they both said they felt that this was BRs true level. I was annoyed when they said that. I have TBH and say that tonight their words came back to haunt me.
Let’s be honest, a 0-0 tonight would have practically eliminated us.

Well played tonight in parts defense looks solid better decision making and shooting and the goals will come. 3 points onwards and upwards.
Hail, hail!!

Delighted by the 3 points, but, something is wrong here, we scored by going direct, not pass pass pass , please Brendan fix this do not be stubborn it is nowhere near good enough or what the players have been capable of.
1) Brilliant 3 points – well fone Boyata & Griffiths for getting us the 3 points we deserved
Followed by 2) Phew! that did NOT look like it was coming at all.
Followed by 3) Actually, that was another very poor and frightened performance and I hope the result does not fool the team or manager.
Tierney & Broony were a 2 man team for us in the first half but we kicked on in the 2nd before going back in our shell again.
Griff must start on Sunday and I hope Brendan ressurects the 3:5:2 formation (with Mikel excused from wing back duties)

Patience is not an easy virtue when you are a Celtic supporter but it, and the Griff, paid off in the end.
Well deserved victory for the Bhoys.
The hands cant hit what the eyes cant see on
Brendan need to play Griff up front and revet to playing Eddie out wide. That’s where we have seen him at his best.
It also means that one of Rogic or McGregor will be on the bench. That would be no bad thing as both are off form and they don’t particularly click; I would choose McGregor over Rogic any day of the week in Europe though.

honestly both EO & ON were hopeless tonight , oh and by the way a lot of fans wondering why the disco lights show was not shown, ideal time after paying all that money, strange.
Great turn out typical Glasgow weather, drizzle and more drizzle ,Celtic always just too good for Rosenborg. who are a mini AEK, without the goal threat.
Keiran Tierney ran his guts out in the first 45 with the freedom of the left, but again suffered with no one on the receiving end of the crosses.
The game proved once and for all Odsonne isn’t an out and out striker and struggles in this role against deeply defensive sides, we face at home and in Europe. James Forrest was quickly shackled and like Paisley the other night, failed to make a telling impact on the game. with relegated Scott Sinclair on the bench BR is almost silently screaming that our midfield, is short of a new man,
Olivier Ntcham didn’t create along with Callum McGregor who miraculously played the whole game again escaping Tom Rogic’s hook. Keiran couldn’t be asked to repeat the first half heroics so when Scott Sinclair left the bench he dropped behind him to a more relaxed role, but still the goal wouldn’t come.
The sieve for now, well plugged with Lustig and classy Benkovic both marshalled by the outstanding Dedryk Boyata who turned provider with a first class assist for the Griffalo to score with a brilliantly taken downward header, of which there are way too few.
Would like to see a complete revamp of the midfield and striking roles down at Kilmarnock, and with the frequency of games we have fringe players needing to step up and take their chance, and Mikey Johnston should be waiting.

Well done Celtic. We made hard work of it but the Griff did the business.
Onwards to Kilmarnock, we owe someone a spanking, might as well be them.
Too many getting frustrated on players passing sideways and backwards when the real problem is lazy players not moving into space to receive a pass and keep the forward pressure on the opponents.
That was what I understood when I was 8 years old.
Ach! What do I know.
Get it sorted Brendan.

our starting formation tonight was 4-5-1 , against st. mirren 3-6-1 , time to change to 4-3-3 , we currently play a system to accommodate certain players and not a system for the benefit of the team.
Gary67 on
As a team we look terrified to give the ball away so play insipid sideways and backward passes rather than trying something with a forward pass. The goal was simplicity, a diagonal chip from the skipper into the box, a head down from the big guy and the poacher was there to tuck away with his head. So why not try that every now and again instead of trying to walk the ball into the net. Why not play it long occasionally instead of continuous tippy tippy from side to side?
We never looked like losing, but until that moment of simple, effective football we never looked like winning. We looked a lot better when the two wingers came on and we played a 433 with Brown in front of the center backs and everyone else atacking.
Can’t fault effort, no one hid (only an idiot would think that), but a few were below par. Edouard needs to play up front alongside someone or a little deeper than the striker. I’d play him and Forrest either side of Griffiths at the weekend.
Lustig is sadly done, he can’t play as an attacking full back, unfortunately our disastrous transfer window meant that his replacement is playing for Valencia so we need to wait till January to get someone in.
Finally Benkovic looks a class act, pity him and Boyata is a short term partnership, if we had them against AEK we’d have been in Amsterdam last night rather that’s CP tonight.
Now does a circa £9 mil get relegated to the bench and the club see his resale plummet or does he get a game in front of the Griff to continue with his lackadaisical approach and see his resale value diminish even further

Or play both. We played the whole pre season with two up front, or one up, one off. Edouard can also play off the left. Given Rogic’s poor start to the season and McGregor being better deeper than out wide like tonight Edouard can fill a couple of positions better than as a lone striker with no support.

The game panned out as i thought it would. After last Friday night which sucked the life out of me i expected little. Start with the positives, it is clear we are able to control games to the extent that the opposition, who show little ambition, are largely nullified. Boyata is the glue that holds it together and Benkovic could prove an able partner. Certainly it is a physically imposing pairing. The trouble with Lustig is that he offers little going froward both on the ball and in creating angles for others players. The crowd have turned on him and it’s a situation thats been created by failing to invest in an able replacement.
KT and Brown as usual were immense. Not much can be said for Rogic, Forrest and Edouard who were all poor. McGregor is burnt out but seems to be undroppable. Ntcham is not mentally in a good place and that is problematic. Johnston showed some good touches and movement to create some bits and pieces whilst on the other wing Sinclair just looks completely gone, mentally, confidence, everything.
The crowd have had enough of the tiki-taka approach. It’s rubbing off on the players and their confidence is shot to bits. They are caught between getting a rollocking off the crowd or getting grief off Brendan for not doing what he wants. Where this leads in the short term is Rugby park and it does not look in the least bit appetising. I can easily foresee us drawing 0-0 or losing 1-0 down there at the current rate. What Brendan will do about it remains to be seen, but changes are needed. Ntcham wouldn’t be anywhere near it for me and Mulumbu is a good shout. Plenty to think about before Sunday.
