Anyway any lip readers confirm that after the goal the Griff reckons that he is the no.1 striker in these parts

I got this and posted it as I was entering the Ground…for those who haven’t seen it, I think (there was no msg with the video) that it was a dry run of the light show.
Griff shouted to the Jock Stein stand after scoring. ‘thats why I’m f****** number one’ whilst raising his index finger.

Good summation of events tonight and more generally.
Scott Sinclair is clearly gone and I don’t see anything bringing him back. The pressure he must feel to perform only grows with every poor performance. It doesn’t help that the team is faliing to score goals.
This adds to the difficult situation we are in; not only did we lose Roberts, Armstrong and Dembele, but Sinclair also. He is so far removed from the good player he was.
Spot on, you could see in his celebrations that he was chompin’ at the bit. Let out a lot of frustration too.

Symptomatic of the malaise :
With ten minutes or so to go , two Celtic players in midfield passed the ball backwards and forwards between each other five times.
I counted.
They were passing the buck , not the ball.
corkcelt on
Macjay, Think Boyata & Benkovic had gone up for a corner and stayed up a bit longer hoping for a second crossed ball.
My take was they were holding ball to allow the 2 central defenders get back in position.
Had they tried anything fancy & we lost the ball we would have been wide open to a sucker counter punch.

so why do we play with the amount of midfielders that we do , is it to keep possession to the detriment of fast forward moves and risk taking in case we lose the ball.

Important three points tonight. Tough game in two weeks away in Austria but hopefully confidence and performances will be improved by then. Griff, Sinky, Mulumbu and Christie all need to be unleashed at Killie on Sunday. Calmac in patricular needs a much needed rest.
Hope all is well CorkCelt and you enjoyed tonight’s result.

Great result but a poor performance.
We played as if it was a passing drill.
Some of KT’s play was excellent — some of the rest was dross.
We are not a team at the moment — just a collection of buck passers.

I like Rosenburg. Good competent Scandi team. Like their blonde left wing back. Like our dark haired version still more. Especially in the first half.
Broonie was….Broonie.
Lots of others and other stuff just off colour. Badly so. I’d actually start SS in the hope he plays himself into form.
Benkovic showed why we wanted to buy him previously. Boyatta showing why others want to buy him now.
Why did lustig and Ntcham go straight up the tunnel. Cos they were getting pelters late on for backpassing and playing pash respectively?

Good result but far from convincing performance…fans getting edgy with players, especially Lustig. He doesn’t deserve that…some players needing a break…lack of freshness…Shame, but I no longer get excited when Sinclair gets the ball…need to see what Lewis Morgan and Mulumbu can offer…Benkovic looks the part but he and his partner could be off soon…corners and throw-ins still not very good, no variation etc. etc…another clean sheet I suppose is progress…so not all doom and gloom………………………………………..yet!
The 3 points are what matters most. We were sound defensively, but going forward Eduard doesn’t look suited for the lone striker role . Rogic being off the boil , and McGergor not performing at his usual standard might be a factor, but my eyes tell me the balance isn’t right at the moment and Eduard looks uncomfortable.
I’m pretty sure Brendan sees this , so keep the faith, as they say.

Good to get a win but can’t help feeling the team would be much much better if Brendan took a break and I became the manager.
I’d pick the best defence, the best midfield and the best strikers.
We’d score more goals, concede fewer, entertain everyone always and buy brilliant players at knock down prices.
Come to think of it the CEO is past it, so maybe I should do his job too while I am at it.
I’d increase turnover (even though that’s bad), get great lights cheap, machine gun everyone at the SFA, have a cold driveway. ……..

Plenty pluses and minuses tonight. On the plus side, all of our corners were out of reach of the goalkeeper. The tactic seemed to be to aim them beyond the far post, and hope they could be headed back. Only one was met by the first defender, so this is an improvement, but some variety would be even better.
Secondly, both Boyata and Benkovic were impressive, and it was notable that the former called for the ball from Brown to give Griffiths his well taken opportunity. An embarrassing eleventh failure in a row to win a European Group Stage home game was thus avoided.
On the minus side, it was sad to see a great servant like Lustig frequently unable to take up the gaping spaces in front of him and provide an overlap. Our lack of movement at throw ins causing interminable delays for Lustig and especially Tierney to restart play is frustrating since it can easily be rectified.
The paucity of attempts on target is of major concern, and has been for weeks. It took 30 minutes for Kieran to have a shot on target, and, apart from a flurry just before halftime, the Rosenborg keeper could have sat in a deck chair. Brendan wants us to be more clinical, but we need to create the chances first. With the notable exception of the Sevco game, we have singularly failed to do this on a regular basis for most of the season so far (and much of last season).
