    Barcelona / Seville ???

Granada were playing a team in the Spanish cup on Monday night

Badalona …. think the Daily Rekord tweet hadn’t been proof read and that’s who they actually meant :-)

Surely the first and hopefully the last time that Alfredooo will be in the same sentence as Neymar Junior on a football site :-)

Although I can see why both would be annoying

Unless there was another Interview,I disagree with those slating Gerrard`s aftermatch response.

Here, he is being a lot more honest than virtually any Manager I have heard after a defeat.

HS, agreed, he is/was but as another poster said, wonder how that will go down with ra bears!

A wee thing that’s been bugging me for a while. Wee Ryan Kent is an ok player, didn’t make it with Liverpool, but ok. Comes up here, appears to be not-too-bright (ok, looks thick as mince), but makes an impact at Mordor. My question: where does the HATRED for our club/players come from? From punching Broonie (a fellow professional?) to all the facial angst we have seen, what is that about? What happens within the dark corridors over there? Gerrard (the one who was in Seville!) now talks the same mince and appears to have bought in to the same jobbies. Remember Djouf and how he tried to wind up Broonie about the recent death of his sister? Don’t tell me he came up from Engurland knowing Broonie’s personal history. There;s something seriously, seriously wrong over there.

Think their supporters will agree with slippy – how many times do you listen to our managers and wonder what they’ve been watching.

The hatred has never left the Victorian lavvy

  7. Big Mike must be worried about his legal bills if he’s selling Newcastle for 340 million. DK got him where he wants. At least that’s what Jabba will tell his poodles

  8. Gerry I suspect you are right. I think the stench of bigotry is so ingrained wi’ the bricks over there it will never go away until the whole place is razed. Which, if we’re going to be honest isn’t going to happen.

    unfortunately.

The thing is, I’m convinced that things have got much worse since the first club died, I used to be able to banter with some of the old Gers’ supporters, but now so many of them are so venomous. I wonder if it will change when/if we do 10 and they realise they will never EVER get back near us?

  9. EMERALDBEEE – you are right. Remember when the likes of Gascoigne, Roberts and Butcher came up. Probably not a bit of bigotry in their blood. Then they get swept away by it. Others, like wilkins and Laudrup can play for them without being tainted.

  10. Every time I hear Mike Ashley has got a buyer for Newcastle I have this awful worry that he will take over Sevco and boot King in the bass.

Just watched highlights on Sportscene of our game yesterday . Even with their unbalanced editing , it was alarming how easily Ross Co cut through our defence .Thank god their finishing was as bad as our defending , but we will definitely drop unnecessary points if we don’ rectify it.

I also noticed on Sportscene they didn’t show Slippy’s post match interview , instead just showing some script of part of it? Strange . Anyways…..let’s hope Ross Co create as many chances on Wednesday but convert some of them.

  13. I thought Gerrards interview was very interesting and surprised their hasn’t been more comments on it.

This was Sevcos first league defeat since losing to us at the start of September.

I think 9 out of 10 managers would have said. We weren’t at our best today but we still created some excellent chances. This was our first league defeat since September, we were missing key players at a difficult venue, my players have been excellent for months, hopefully we’ll now go on another excellent run.

For him however, to slate his players, after one game, question their bottle and most importantly distance himself from his players is huge, a real gamble.

He has laid down the gauntlet and is now publicly questioning his players bottle. By saying he doesn’t know if they have the bottle, he is setting the narrative that if they fail its because the players don’t have the bottle and is nothing to do with him. If I was a player I’d now think the players were now separate from the manager, I’d be raging, where is his responsibility.

It’s a bit like, when we win the manager and the players are great but when we lose its the players fault, they have no bottle, not the manager’s fault.

Very dangerous gamble imo that could easily backfire. Could this prove costly?

  14. DENIABHOY – yup that’s right. When you look at our ‘imports’ they are just professionals doing their job, obviously realising the significance of the results against the The Rangers, but keeping it personal/professional.

On a personal/confessional theme I spoke to one of my offspring this evening, after the The Rangers result came through and mentioned how surprised I was that Naismith/Naybalance had scored against them. “I thought he would be the usual professional, harrying wee knob he usually is” he said. “I would never have doubted his professionalism”. “Oh” says I, “I certainly doubted his professionalism, but fair play in this instance, I was wrong!”.

  15. glendalystonsils on

Naismith took his goal well but while his team mates were going ecstatic , he looked as if he’d just dropped a £20 note down a stank.

  16. Emeraldbee 9.15pm

My in-laws are Sevs … Stevie Gee has reinvigorated them, some didn’t speak about football since 2012… I don’t even bring the subject up these days but even my good lady has bought into “Gerrard” must be the name she likes :-)

Even though I never want any form of the Hun to do well I do think them on our coattails is pushing us to be better, obviously I would much prefer Aberdeen, Motherwell, Hibs & Hearts to be doing this … but all of these clubs live within their means … the Sevs allnor nothing attitude will see them making the same mistakes as their previous entity …. Jermaine Defoe new contract 37yrs old on probably more money than any other player in Scotland … says it all

  17. Glendaly 9.27pm

They have barred the BBC for being against them :-) :-) :-)

But you wouldn’t know it as the BBC don’t mention it … surely breaching the sponsorship with SPL clubs .. but who knows

  18. Glendalystonsils

That’s what they always do, Sevco are still in dispute with the BBC when Chris McLaughlin reported their sectarian singing. They barred a reporter for the heinous crime of reporting the truth.😊

  19. They have Ross County, Aberdeen and Hibs at home and Kilmarnock away between now and 15th Feb.

We have st J, Hamilton and Motherwell away before Hearts at home on the 15th.

Fancy Aberdeen or Hibs to get a draw there and Kilmarnock as well.

Motherwell could be our banana skin.

  20. If they win their game in hand we are 2 points clear. Of course, both teams have the destination of the title in their own hands – we just need to win 1 of the 2 remaining Glasgow Derbies (and all other games). They need to win 1 but also not lose the other (plus win all other games).

    Rob O’Keeffe

Ralph? Could you please admit that you are not sure how to spell Odsonne’s surname…..Signed I never saw a thing Peter L.

SG questioning his team about their bottle,Celtic bringing in players with more to come,Huns are skint and still we have Celtic supporters stating the bleeding obvious that Scottish football is/ was bent.Either participate or don’t pay into it,it’s pretty simple and will never change…..

P.S.If Peter resigned, who would we get to replace him?

    P.P.S.I believe Barcabhoy,the e-mail is a total stitch up…

From etims.Who would we get to replace peter l.

Does anyone out there think he is irreplaceable ?this guy sounds like there is no one in the whole wide world who could run CELTIC.

Another thing did peter l cause the huns to go skint. WELL DID He.?????

  22. FAVOURITE UNCLE on

BHOYS BHOYS .After lpool 2 shrews 2 some people on here want to predict football scores.

  23. I dont really watch, or read too much into, manager’s after match interviews, especially after a defeat, but Gerrard’s ‘Celtic were waiting for us to blink, and wee blinked big time today’ was a strange comment

  24. Gerrard name checking us after that result shows the pressure he’s under. Lennon would never do that, it would always be about us and our game, our standards.

I think Gerrard knows it’s this year or bust for them. He won’t have the money to go again next season. He was visibly shocked after that game and if he were our boss, I’d be worried.

There’s definitely a lack of composure with Steven Gerrard, I think that’s reflected in his team as well.

  25. Emerald@9.02:

They still hang on to the Protestant/orange/loyalist ethos, that is ‘ what they are all about’.We know the make up of their support, the club officers and I imagine the work force would be drawn mainly from that community that identify themselves as,’belonging to the Govan club’.There are arch bigots within the club to make sure that things stay ‘as they were’ and that’s where Bell would play his hand.If they could get away with a no Catholic policy they would not hesitate to do so.

  26. amazing what a “clean” manager with no affiliations/goat bothering can achieve

    onwards and upwards

  27. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Good man management skills require emotional intelligence and empathy.

I’m not sure Slippy has either.

I suspect he is highly driven.

Possibly a perfectionist too (in a naive sort of way).

His binary interpretation of performance could easily backfire.

    Interesting opinions on Sevco’s injuries.

We’ve carried a large squad for five years to deal with 60 games a year and the injuries this brings.

They’ve only had to deal with the problem for 1½ seasons.

This could easily be the start of the ship creaking.

And remember – “no new signings”.

    Hail hail

    RESULTS FROM GAME #30 – CELTIC 3 ROSS COUNTY 0 (McGREGOR, EDOUARD[2])

Oh My Days, what a weekend. Oh My Days, our own support sets such high standards: a 3 – 0 win but more moans and groans than cheers in the hours that followed the game. A 48 hours that started with us 2 points and 1 goal ahead ends with us 5 points and 5 goals ahead. Yet again, January seems to be a crucial month!

Our first home game of 2020 and at 3.00pm on a Saturday afternoon in front of a sell out crowd. And Celtic are awarded a penalty! Doesn’t get much better than that, Ted!

A big thanks to the 40 who voted. Interestingly, there was a wee rush of votes between 5pm and 6pm this evening. It appears as though a few folks’ spirits were lifted 😉

The votes have been distributed as follows, with my own selections asterisked –

    Forster: 2

    Bauer*: 12

    Jullien: 3

    Simunovic: 0

    Hayes: 2

    Forrest: 2

    Ntcham: 4

    Johnston*: 5

    Griffiths: 1

    Edouard*: 37

    Rogic: 0

    Dembele: 0

Unused subs – Gordon, Taylor, Welsh, Klimala

So, the players receiving points for the Ross County are –

    Edouard – 5 points

    McGregor – 4 points

    Brown – 3 points

    Bauer – 2 point

    19th – Johnston – 4 points

    20th – Bayo – 3 points

    22nd – Morgan – 2 points
