`Might be an idea if bus convenors checked passports when people get on the bus as well. Save hassle at the stadium and help reduce transmission rates on the busses, which otherwise are mobile plague pits.`

Just to be clear, do you mean that those without passports would not be allowed on the bus?

    Yes.

  2. Bus convenor –

for the sake of celtic and an easy passage into the match, i want to check your Vacinne codes –

    most likely response –

“Football is all about opinions”, how many thousands of times have we heard that? Therefore it is reasonable and natural that supporters draw inferences and express opinions. Whether those inferences/opinions are reasonable is a matter of…..opinion – “football is……etc”.

Thanks. I think that might work.

The Convenors might not be too happy about having to check but it would certainly help in making the busses feel safer .

  6. Where is BFDJ?

Did he retire to a pig farm as predicted?

Or is he still hiding from Chris Sutton?

    Questions, questions.

Fair enough but the inferences themselves might be very far from being reasonable !

Bus passenger arrives at CP. Is informed that no passport no admittance. Asks bus convenor why he wasn’t informed of this requirement when boarding the bus and paying his fare.

At this juncture it is not a bus that is being shoved up the convenor’s arse.

Travelling on busses would be a better experience without supporters who responded like that.

‘ernie , should train inspectors and public transport do the same ?’

You can’t see a difference between them and a supporters’ bus, run by and for supporters for the purpose of attending games?

People live their lives each day by drawing inferences from experience, circumstances and available evidence – it would be impossible to do otherwise because we don’t know everything.

ernie , should train inspectors and public transport do the same ?`

If it were as easily implemented then, yes but trains in particular would throw up more problems than supporters` busses.

  14. JHB @ 5:06 PM,

Sadly we do know; he will not be reforming Celtic.

The point I was making is he was brought in TO reform Celtic.

    A staid and underperforming organisation.

Ange stated what we all thought was happening a “new modern vision”.

Dom McKay said: “I’ve received quite a lot of reports on how things have gone over the past number of years. Recruitment’s one area I’ve seen reports on.

“It’s really critical for this club to make sure it’s world class, that it looks around the world to benchmark itself.

“And that’s what we’re going to be doing – whether that’s recruitment, academy, business operations, whatever that may be – to benchmark ourselves against the best in class.

    So where is that?

    What happened to Eddie Howe

    The new backroom

The Director of Football – Fergal Harkin furinstance

Scouting, we went from John Park, to Lee Congerton, to Nick Hammond, who left six months ago and hasn’t been replaced.

    None of it has happened.

Despite that Ange and Dom have still made huge progress from the basket case the new CEO inherited.

If he didn’t fit, who did he not fit with.!?

The failures who had rioting fans on their hands last season, he wasn’t supposed to “fit in”, be a team player in a dysfunctional team.

That wasn’t his remit. It was to improve Celtic Football Club.

Just like DD made a huge mistake when he backed PL over BR.

He’s made a huge mistake backing the old guard over Dom McKay.

    Let’s hope his plan B’s good…

    Martin O’Neil, Brendan Rodgers…

He’s done it before, can he do it at executive level, we’re about to find out.

    Hail Hail

aye, it would be nice and gentle, and the huge differntial between say The busses out of the Port Hibs versus the rarified and polite of the Greenock Celtic.

Port hibs bus was standing room only a few games ago. try being the convenor who tells the 20 or so, your not getting on.

I am not disputing that people are influenced by many factors in forming opinions. I am simply talking of whether or not those opinions are `reasonable`.

In a nutshell: It is reasonable to form an opinion but the opinion itself might be unreasonable

  17. I dont see a difference,

why not stop people travelling in at all, maybe get the double vaxxed peoples to wear some sort of identification on their clothing, just to make it quicker to process.

meanwhile a mob of black shirted public spirited peoples could protect the east end by stopping those walking to the game and not getting checked.

    it is all got ridiculous.

Can I be the first, and possibly the only, one on here, (though Petec seeded some doubt) to cast a discordant note on the victory of Emma Raducanu in New York last night. Individual sports, moreso than even team ones, can sometimes hinge on the slightest of factors, some less perceptible than others. Hagler versus Leonard hung on the blatant and deliberate false scoring in the latter’s favour. White and Hendry in the former’s lack of belief at crucial moments. Jocky Wilson’s nerve at similarly crucial times. Chose your own examples. We witnessed one last night that decided the destiny of the US Open, and not one to be applauded, ignored or mistakenly explained away. Despite being 5-3 up in the second set, Raducanu had missed several Championship points, and was facing break point for 5-4 with Fernandez in the momentum in that game. Lehlah had already broken her serve once in that set, had dug out victories throughout the tournament in adversity and more importantly had won in three sets. Facing that possibility Raducanu, chose not to serve, but according to commentators, including Martina Navratilova “take a medical time out”, which was within “the rules”. It wasn’t and it isn’t. Not at the point she took it. What she took advantage of was a situation, where she could make a request from the umpire, for “assistance during play”, as a result of minor bleeding, a non-acute injury, and one which could have been addressed at the end of that particular game, possibly one service play away. The injury itself would have been a badge of honour for a child in time’s gone by. The treatment, a band-aid or elastoplast would have sufficed, took long enough for a minor operation, much to her opponents frustration. Fernandez has since apologised for her reaction, she had and has no need to do so, Raducanu took away her opponent’s momentum, advantage of little more than a scratch, and exhibited gamesmanship bordering on, if not actual, cheating. You won’t read that in the British press, but you read it here first.

  19. fat derek what is your opinion on the penalty award ?

well my opinion is it never hit my hand.

but we all seen it different on the tv , and even tha referee had to give it.

maybe but that just his opinion.

  20. SAINT STIVS on 12TH SEPTEMBER 2021 5:46 PM

Of course I wouldn`t like to be that convenor but even less would I like to travel with the twenty .

I think I am just getting old and grumpy.

  22. CELTIC MAC on 12TH SEPTEMBER 2021 5:51 PM

The aspect of this that got me was that it was the first item on the BBC News and there was no mention of the girl having been born in Canada of Chinese and Romanian parents !

  23. Celtic Mac,

She employed a few tactics to win the Big Prize. A good few times she threw the Ba’ up and caught it.

Leylah was staring at Emma most points trying to intimidate her. I thought it was an incredible game of Tennis.

I assumed it was in the rules, apologies.

  24. ANge had an opinion about opinions yesterday in that interview with the BBC,

Ange, Jim Goodwin has come out with strong opinions about vacinnations for players and the passport scheme for game attendance, what is your opinion on these things ?

Listen mate, I dont like it when people want to tell me who to buy, who to pick, who to play or who to sub, so why would anyone be interested in what me, an unqualified in medical matters have to say about it, I will follow what the medical experts tell us what to do.

I sometimes wonder if you have ever been to a match here,

For many, the actual match is just the bit in the middle of the days events, which is all about meeting pals for a bevvy and or a substance.

hundres, maybe thousands toddle into the ground well past kick off time,

hundreds, maybe thousands leave with 10 minutes to go,

ive seen people getting the gates opened at halftime, just to get to the pub,

    most busses have their contingent.

i am not condeming it, stating it as factual.

  26. I wonder what the future will hold.

Will we bring a new CEO in from outside? Assuming, recent events haven’t scared the better candidates off.

Do we just recruit from out existing gene pool?

Is the straight swap from Neil to Ange enough to turn around the 25 point gap from last season?

Is the football ddept now complete or are we still looking to improve? Specifically, what areas?

One other thing i liked from yesterday, everytime the cameras cut to kyogo in the front stand he was super concentrated on the game. you just know he was playing every ball, looking for every space, thinking of where he would be when he gets back.

    superstar

    ………………………………………………………………………

That is the real difference, Ole Gunnar, according to his Manager, would be watching the game frae the bench and really impact it when he came on.

I’m delighted that Joe90, Kyogo, Jota and all the new Lads are immersing themselves in Celtic.

  28. as a wee aside yesterday i was round the green brigade area at half time, looking for a cousin, i went out the north curve gates, jeese oh the number of vax smokers was unbelievable,

in a wee nod to modernity, several of those canned alcohol tins being consumed, must be easier to hide.

  29. hot smoked

Could argue that they were both Canadians. Emma did grow up in Kent though and benefited from LTA support, moreso than Andy Murray in fact.

I’ve been on supporters’ buses all over the UK, and a good bit of mainland Europe.

Yes there’s clowns who don’t make it to the game.

But any convenor worth their salt would not be letting them on a bus at the moment without a passport.

‘Ive seen people getting the gates opened at halftime, just to get to the pub,’

Very true, I know bhoys who beat it to the pub if Celtic are two up or more. Just don’t get that at all😱😵

You can never tell with the Scottish Government but I think this will be scrapped Jam&Spoon,

    It’s costly and totally unworkable.
