One summer day my DA took me to Saltcoats for a day oot.
He parked the car on some grass overlooking the beach ( I think ?).
Lo and behold, John MacNamee parked his car right alongside us and got out. I am NOT sure if JOHN was driving ….however, my DA couldnt wait to have a quick word with John….My DA liked Big JOHN a lot…..especially in the Hoops. That just made my DA’s day complete.
A great day out in Paradise with ma big china ” DAVID66″. I had Celtic to win 6 – 0 and 7- 0 with the Bookie before Kick Aff….so I was cursing my luck as the 2nd half wore on….However…
………….
I should have gave wee RILEY his Christmas present yesterday in Celtic Park….but it slipped my mind….However, I will give you something for RILEY when I see you on December 20th in The Shipbank.
I had a great day oot yesterday watching The Hoops alongside you….but I must admit that I was knackered when I got hame.
I recall him in black and white as a boy seeing him play for the last Newcastle team to ever win a major trophy.
They beat rangers and ujpest dozsa to win fairs cup in 69.
He waited 6 years after losing to rangers in 63 to become a Hunskelpers but did it in style for Newcastle. The huns rioted that night again of course.
A legend with Newcastle. I am sure a big bit of his heart was always at paradise. RIP

Just noticed he actually played in the semi final v rangers but not in the final v Ujpest. This get old plays tricks on you. The semi final was the big one though. I am sure it would have been for him.
Is it to much to hope for a draw in Perth and an away win at Tynecastle today .
Penrice the Hearts left wingback has always caught my eye I’ll be watching to see how he plays today .
Liverpool v Man C should be a cracking game too.
Anyhoo family stuff as per might kibosh my afternoon plans.

Brendan Rodgers buried the too many changes fears with the help of the quality in his squad.and the so called ‘masterclass‘ that earned Bruges a whole one point draw in midweek was parked. Sheer depth of player astutely managed by our tier one operation, made first half Parkhead pandemonium for the Staggies and their get me out of here goalie.
A game of two keepers saw Celtic find a first half performance that’s been missing in recent weeks, the second half could only be an anti climax despite woodwork tests, and face saving heroics from Ross County. Every player waiting in the periphery of the side took their chance, and there were exceptional performances from McCowan, Bernardo, Idah, and Scales. Last minute signing Luke is certain to play a part in selection dilemmas.
Adam Idah’s goal was of a quality not previously seen in Norwich. The technique shown by the young striker is clearly being honed at Lennoxtown and the larger stage, where he could have had a hat trick. Paulo Bernardo a shoe in to start had another great contribution, side stepping to find a favourite stanchion.
The Prestwick flyer also had a fine game always involved, he was all over the County back line and unlucky not to have made it five from five changes hitting the net, after Liam Scales as if indignantly headed home the opener. Alex Valle who sometimes pops up as surprise striker was excellent, if yet untested defensively. Yang the last of the K-League Koreans promises so much in the fleeting glimpses we see, it’s difficult to discount him from the big picture ahead.
Captain Calmac led by example and only scores great goals, there are no squad fillers at Celtic now, all difference makers, under BR the jersey definitely doesn’t shrink. What a contrast to this time last year and a home game when we even had to apologise to Santa before going on to be champions again.

So the St Johnstone LB (very nice touch btw) gets a card for a tackle where he got the ball first and the Hun player thereafter. Yet baggy-eyed Barron goes thru a Saints’ players calf and gets a friendly word of caution from McLean. Subtle ways to influence a game and help yer pals Stevie eh ??
Saints defence is OK but their midfield can’t find a pass of any quality.
Still 0-0 at halftime is interesting.

The wee LB for SJ really catching my eye today.Their manager has done some job on them.Unrecognisable from the clogger’s from before.Playing really well.Mc Lèan gives two yellows, one deserved ,one for nothing, and let’s Pasty eyes of for two thuggish tackles in two mins.

Normally always anxious where our friends across the city are concerned. Conditioned by 75/6 and 86/7 and 02/3 and 04/5 and 08/9 collapses but I think if rangers do drop a point today and we win on Wednesday then the 55th league title will be as good as secured.

Why not. We have the squad as has been proven.
Great win inspired by a top notch manager.
CCV had to play from the start.. it stops any distracting speculation regarding the OG.
Domestic football must be the preparation for the Champions League. That is the prize that BR and many of us desire soooooo badly.
HH. IBWT. The journey continues.
Straight from the off we were quicker slicker and played some wonderful football yesterday.
Maeda I felt was excellent and Luke McCowan a super display scored a great goal and setting up three.
A great calendar year and don’t recall many better in my time.
Hall Hall
Good morning all from a wet underfoot but dry at the moment 13 degree Garngad.
The Grandson stayed with us last night so going to get him up soon with some toast and hot sugary tea, then off to watch him play footy.
Big Jimmy it was a pleasure to have your company yesterday sir.

A wee draw for the huns today would be another carlsberg weekend moment.

Barring any niggles/injuries from yesterday v Ross County, I can see NO reason for Brendan to change the starting midfield for the game v Aberdeen.
It will surely be a midfield of…..MCCOWAN, MCGREGOR and BARNADO….with REO and ARNE on the bench ?
Liam Scales will MAYBE keep his place….but Auston Trusty MAY get the nod from Brendan which would be rather harsh on Liam who was excellent yesterday.

Saints are trying to play possession football , ultimately it will cost them.
A wee bit over confident for my liking and their poor final ball is letting them down .
Jefte , Cerny , Hagi so far are calling the shots for the huns .
Well done to BELFAST JOE, who called it 5 – 0. I will leave a wee parcel at Reception for you later in the week.
