Morning all.
What a day yesterday.
Inept performance followed by PL entering the dressing room and topped off by bedlam at the POTY shindig.
Allegedly, it all kicked off when CKR took exception to being called a “big Jessie” by Leigh Griffiths, and promptly nutted him!
All hell broke loose, and a mass brawl ensued.
Wee GMS hid under a table, and Nir Bitton hobbled off holding his hamstring.
Ronny and the two Johns tried to calm things down, but were told to “gtf!”
PL climbed on to a table to try and restore order, but it collapsed under his weight! This caused much hilarity and cries of “fat b******!”
Ian Bankier was heard shouting “behave!” This had little effect and was met by “f*** off ya w*****!”
Order was finally restored and it was decided that next year’s event will be held in Bar 67.

It’s all to do with the whole game being a sham and Celtic being a leading player in ensuring it’s a sham.
I’d be happy with a third rate team playing in an honest set up than a team of world beaters in a corrupt farce of a league.

One of my incessant complaints is Lawwell’s total lack of vision. Therefore I am going to send one to him.
How I’d like to go about this is engaging with other fans to build a vision of Celtic in 2020.
I will send him a narrative that will be written in the present tense as if from the year 2020…
All suggestions welcome-
But here goes with a starter for 10
”After a challenging domestic season that saw Celtic claim our second 9 in a row- we are now poised for our assault on European football again.
Having made the last 32 of Championsbleague in the last two seasons, hopes are high that we can take a step in to the last 16 in 2021.
How has this been achieved? Careful management of squad means that Ctic are now viewed as one of Europe’s leading development teams.
The club is now the club of choice for aspiring top level players. The policy of 18 month loans is now well embedded. This has been a contributory factor in Celtic now having a waiting list for season tickets as fans are eager to watch the development of emerging top level talent.
However with a squad now capped at 33 with a stratified 3 player/ position policy, which has built in succession fans are also eager to see emerging home grown talent that occupies 3rd choice in every position. These players are paid £3k week a third of their number 2 and a 10th of their 1 st choice- providing enormous motivation to develop and improve.
The manager remains the highest paid employee at the club and reports directly to the Board.
Off the field income generation has also rocketed with Celtic controlling all TV rights to their home games. In 2018 Celtic entered a collaboration with STV to film all games. Celtic control all broadcasting rights.
Sales of merchandise have also rocketed and again this has been achieved through shrewd partnership working with key producers and suppliers. Again Celtic retaining distribution control has paid dividends.
The Board now has 2 fan representatives via election from season ticket holders and shareholders. Main shareholder Dermott Desmond does not have a vote but retains the power of veto.
To date this veto has not been exercised.
Key to achieving much of this has been investment in fan engagement and consensus building around key values of the club which are not too far removed from the principles of the founding fathers.
Looking forward what’s next for Celtic?
Leading the development of a world class ladies team has allowed Celtic to maximise the potential of the biggest growth area in modern football. Women league football has been timetabled for summer allowing Celtic fans year round interest and critically year round income for the club.
The next step is to cement plans for Celtic teams in the Indian, Chinese and US leagues.
Three short years ago none of this seemed possible but with a conserted effort to develop a terrace to Boardroom alliance- the potential seems limitless. It is expected that the commercial strength of Celtic will soon prompt an invite to join the EPL..”

However I did make the effort for big games – yes Rangers and European games. I tended also to go to a couple of home games as we tend to have the odd Glasgow weekend. Occasionally I’d go midweek if I was working in Glasgow and it fitted in.
My son will be studying in Glasgow 2017 and I had considered a couple of SBs …
Now I don’t think the decisions I make matter but I think my story is the story of many fans who would be there more often. Add that to the diehards who are now apathetic and you can see £m’s of untapped income.
My belief is that Celtic Park could be sold out regularly. Further I believe that is possible with only a few changes – some of which don’t even cost money. Communication , shared vision etc don’t cost a penny.

An oversimplification I know, Mrs C, said to me yesterday,
“But we won the European Cup with no money.”
It reminded me of this,
September 1913
BY WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS
What need you, being come to sense,
But fumble in a greasy till
And add the halfpence to the pence
And prayer to shivering prayer, until
You have dried the marrow from the bone;
For men were born to pray and save:
Romantic Ireland’s dead and gone,
It’s with O’Leary in the grave.
Yet they were of a different kind,
The names that stilled your childish play,
They have gone about the world like wind,
But little time had they to pray
For whom the hangman’s rope was spun,
And what, God help us, could they save?
Romantic Ireland’s dead and gone,
It’s with O’Leary in the grave.
Was it for this the wild geese spread
The grey wing upon every tide;
For this that all that blood was shed,
For this Edward Fitzgerald died,
And Robert Emmet and Wolfe Tone,
All that delirium of the brave?
Romantic Ireland’s dead and gone,
It’s with O’Leary in the grave.
Yet could we turn the years again,
And call those exiles as they were
In all their loneliness and pain,
You’d cry, ‘Some woman’s yellow hair
Has maddened every mother’s son’:
They weighed so lightly what they gave.
But let them be, they’re dead and gone,
They’re with O’Leary in the grave.
