Boringgggggggg we should be skelping teams like that.

You’d think edouard would know how to control a ball by now… amateurish at best.

Morgan I love, always looking to attack.

Boli looks strong and his quick one touch passing was a joy.

Ajer seems to think he’s the finished article sometimes and plays some woeful dangerous passes.

Calmac picking up where he left off last season.

    Christie is a tremendous player.

All but said … missing our £7m man in defence, Luca an exciting prospect, jamesy looking fit, brooney doing what he does best and the griff looking sharp, I’m well looking forward to the season ahead and 9 in a row.

  2. I guess every Celtic man is sleeping the sleep of the just, content with the performance earlier and happy with the efforts of the management and board.

I just hope there are no injuries.

    So far so good.

  3. Christie looking good

Mr Morgan looks like he could do a job on the right wing ( taxi for Mr. invisible forrest )

only a fraction of money taken in last year spent but now looks like NL not being back bt lawell oh dear

    Re “Invisible JF”

I heard a joke yesterday that fits this situation.

A women turns to a priest in church and says ” I think I’ve just let off a silent fart, Father, what should I do?”

The priest replies – “Turn your hearing aid up!”

  9. If I can steal one item from the Sandman ratings it is his pretty fair assessment of JF:-

    “FORREST – 6.5/10

Hey, the Flash is back. Like a videogame, Jamesy levels up match-to-match at the beginning of a season. Last week he was ‘moderately disaffected’, this week we had him on ‘reasonably engaged’. Switching wings and never looking bored, he was as industrious as he was absent last week. Only thing misisng was his finishing touch – delivery, final ball and decisions were lacking. Here’s to next week where we may expect him at ‘occasionally thrilling’. Ladies…”

The Holy Boli Goli looked very promising last night, good pace, plays with his head up,always looking for a pass

  11. SydneyTim: Keep posting your honest thoughts, the name callers are the one’s who are showing themselves up, a club open to all except anyone with critical opinion.

Here’s my honest review of where we are. The over the top praise for beating a basic team in Sarajevo is a bit much. Last night was ok nothing more. This is still a team that struggles to score enough goals and create enough good chances. The build up play is decent but when they get to the final third the delivery into the box needs to improve as well as the movement in the box.

Im confident NFL knows this and as has said as much, the one’s criticising Sydney Tim should reflect NFL comments, “we need more depth and more quality ”

Imo that performance and team that played last night will struggle to win 9 in a row and qualify for CL group stages. Lewis Morgan and Bolingoli, getting a lot of praise but both were guilty of several mistakes. LM blasting over the bar from 16 yards when he has to hit the target and Bolingoli giving the ball away cheaply on several occasions including one when we were punished.

Things could look far more promising however pretty quickly, we could get a motivated Ntcham back who has the necessary quality , we could retain and get a fit KT and Julien could be the rock we need, that would be a huge difference to this team.

What we must do though before the window closes is add 2 players which could put the vital finishing touches to this team.

The first is obviously a quality RB and a quality CF, the money being needlessly hoarded must be spent or the fans are being short changed again.

Another quality CF and James Forrest provided an excellent article of about 8 strikers banging in goals in European Leagues all costing 10M or under will leave us less susceptible to the 0:0 that this team has produced several times even under Brendan Rodgers.

Improvement definitely needed to turn this team into the one we’re capable of being, a lot of the disagreement comes down to which standards your happy to accept, i want us to improve. HH

  13. According to Sid, ` the one’s criticising Sydney Tim should reflect NFL comments, “we need more depth and more quality ” `

Maybe both Sid and Sydneyy Tim, therefore, should reflect Neil`s other comment:

“I’m really pleased with the level of performance so far. It’s not perfect by any means – I get that – but for where we are it’s excellent.”

  14. 17th July and posters want flawless performances….

Two competitive matches in – 5 goals scored.

Last night 17 attempts, 9 on target.

Bit of perspective. More signings to come in and we’ll get better as of course will the opposition.

Is it a case that they have 4 registered ‘home grown’ players, they are supposed to have 8 – however they have left 3 spaces empty to accomodate… so they have registered one player too many?

Or there is someone in there who spent 3 years in Scotland from age 15 that is not being accounted for?

I thought we were , overall, pretty good last night. Some aspects of play were excellent, some a tad over-played and some players were , occasionally, a little sloppy.

Overall, though, I was content and expect to be a lot more than that after a few more games.

I didn`t think anyone played badly but I paricularly liked the smoothness of Bitton, the class of Calmac, the impact of Morgan and the flashing moments of the much maligned ( by some) james Forrest.

I should add Ajer who made some foraging runs and timely tackles. Christie was not my MotM but he was very good nevertheless. Boli? I am not sure yet but I am mainly optimistic.

    JJ

  17. Thought last night was pretty good and far more positive than negative.

Saw some signs that we will be far less predictable this season and the new guy BOLI looked very good to me.

He seemed to add something we have not had in a while.

    8/10 all round

  18. Re nothin’ in particular

If your long-term aim was to discredit and generally denigrate social media sites such as bloggers of some influence, then I think an effective strategy might be to drip feed guff stories and”bearly” plausible conspiracies which are subsequently de-bunked.

To the general populatio,n especially the mouth-breathers of the klan, the net effect is that anything social media related is just for maddies and should be discounted in favour of quality journalism such as that constructed by wee chic, Keech and Co.

Result – credible investigative insights into the important stuff is obscured.

  19. Danny Simpson on a trial. You couldn’t make it.

Is that the best that a 4 hr transfer meeting could come up with.

  20. Regards the game last night, I thought we played with more freedom of movement.

A lot of the two touch football and passing quickly pleased me anyway.

As for the mistakes ( there were a few) better to get them out of the way just now as we’re bedding the team in.

All in all, a happy Marspapa 👍

  21. Celtic and an enforced back three is fine for Sarajevo, but only just, last night.

Boli Bolingoli had a good home debut, but I prefer to judge him at left back in a solid four, his problems will come, should we manage to hang onto Kieran Tierney. £3M is a record outlay for a Celtic full back and his touches playing wide, and up front looked classy.

The format was the main issue for Celtic, time and again Kris Ajer had to make last ditch blocks in the open chasm wide on the right, Jozo had to do the same, on the opposite flank. The sooner we sort out a back four including a new right back the better, playing Pep’s way is only any good if the rest of the team is filled with Brazillians.

The downside of Lewis Morgan’s fine showing is moving James Forrest to the left, something Ronny Deila couldn’t get out of his head either. James Forrest suffers wide left, and has made his name at Celtic playing where he is a natural fit. Ironically, years later Lewis Morgan suffered the same under fate under Brendan Rodgers who insisted he played wide left, where he never kicked a ball.

Now that we appear to have found the real Morgan rotation rotation rotation could be the key to nine in a row. In a game where Celtic had no failures and were fitter and faster, we suffered because of an over lenient referee, we are playing beautiful football but its not just at RB we’re short, there is a missing ingredient in Neil’s side. No use appealing to the referee about late tackles putting Celtic players in the air more than once, BR’s side had the same missing ingredient of some brawn, in the engine room.

  23. Just a cut & paste from a piece in local paper in Cork, Touched a nerve with me as it is the locality I grew up in Cork & regularly attended Mass in that Church.

A week after I learned of Billy McNeil’s death, I decided to organise a mass for him at the Society of African Missions church in the Western suburb of Cork, where I have been living for the past ten years.

I chose this particular church because of an emotional attachment I had to it, having been a student in the adjacent college between 1950 and 1952.

I contacted Celtic and asked for the club’s support. Being Celtic, that support came in the form of a large, colour photograph of Billy and Celtic jersey with Billy’s name and number 5 printed on it: both items delivered by courier to my home.

Two days before the mass on the May 16, a lady from the club’s PR office telephoned my daughter Katherine to inform her that Bobby Lennox and John Clark would be arriving in Cork to represent the Lisbon Lions.

I just couldn’t believe it when I heard the news.

By then, the Celtic supporter’s clubs in Cork were aware of the mass and on the night turned up in big numbers wearing the Celtic jersey and scarves. The deputy Lord Mayor of Cork sat in the front pew alongside Bobby and John.

Prior to the mass, I had booked a string trio from the Cork School of Music to play appropriate music. A Welsh tenor, Ryan Morgan, sang Abide with Me, Ave Maria, The Lord is My Shepherd and Panis Angelicus during the liturgy.

When it came to the offertory, Fr. Michael O’Leary SMA invited Bobby Lennox and John Clark to bring the jersey and picture up to the altar. Fr. Michael and his fellow priest Fr.Kevin O’Connor SMA turned both items around to face the congregation to loud and sustained applause.

At the end of the mass, Ryan Morgan led the congregation in a rousing rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone.’ I had to fight hard to hold back the tears.

Afterwards, my daughter said to me, ‘Dad, I felt so much love here tonight.’

I am going to present the jersey and photograph to the two Celtic supporter’s clubs in Cork.

  24. I thought we played within ourselves last night. We had good control in general but got a little sloppy in the 2nd half which led to their goal. The took their only real chance so fair play to them. Boli looks decent if a little raw, willing and good going forward, still to be properly tested going forward.

Christie is sheer class, works so hard and has such a good brain backed up with technical ability. His back heel to Boli was silky. The wingers didn’t do much and still looking for more from Edouard. McGregor different class as always, he should not be sold at any price.

  25. Bada Bing – That’s a decent write up but won’t be good enough for some of our support who view the standard with disdain.

Feels like we are still in the sourcing to acquiring recruitment funnel which of course will lead to potential distressed purchases. Simpson feels that way. Lot of virtue signalling going on in our support but the worry is the scattergun approach to agents selling their wares rather than a more balanced approach to scouting a player, doing the due diligence and then signing them.

  26. BTW Boli will do. Sell KT…

Use budget to spend on RB, beefy CM and a Moussa Dembele clone up front.
