    Never been happier at being wrong. Still not sure how good we were but I do think we were very very good.

    Going into town tomorrow to celebrate last night. Cousin is over from Roscommon for the Falkirk game and would like a wander round the pubs of old Glasgow Town. I can arrange that.

    A few more hours basking in the joy of last nights performance & then we turn our attention to Falkirk.

     

     

    I love the new format where we play 8 different teams, 2 really hard away toughies coming up, I’ll be happy if we play well & compete strongly in both games but am not giving up on grabbing a point or two.

     

     

    Realistically it’s all about our home games, win 3 & draw one should see us in knock outs.

    Hope it helps EMERALDBEE, believe it or not it was ERNIE LYNCH formerly of this parish who gave the advice originally.

     

    I was fell foul of his poisoned pen but that tip made up a little bit for it.

     

     

    Loved last night, I was working and heard the fourth goal on the drive home.

     

     

    Thought Joe Hart was excellent on MOTD. Not just the Celtic positivity, which came over from all the pundits, but also his insight into Brendan’s mindset when he took over.

     

    He said that BR took his time to put his stamp on the team due to the way the team were drilled under Ange, he knew he had to do it slowly.

     

    Almost to the point that Joe wondered if he would ever do it. Once he did , only a few months ago, it was all systems go.

    eXCELLENT RESULT AND PERFORMANCE LAST NIGHT, AS THE MANAGER SAID ITS ABOUT BUILDING, KEEP THE BUILDING GOING, NO PREDICTIONS FROM ME ABOUT THIS COMPETITION but one thing is for sure Brendan will have us prepared like no manager in the recent past I am very impressed by Celtic’s fitness and condition which was an annoyance to me as we seemed to tire and lose stupid late goals in these games. Sorry about the caps in parts the lock was on.

    I didn’t have high hopes for last night… I expected us to play well.. miss a load of chances then get hit with a sucker punch… so glad to be so wrong..

     

     

    Borgo67… was just about to mention about Joe Hart on MOTD.. it was a really good insight into last season and how Brendan works.

    One moment that really stuck out last night (apart from the goals) was on 23 minutes CCV misplaced a pass and it went to Wiess… he was 1-1 with AJ and before he could decide what to do Khun had robbed him…

    I think we all suspected that was Brendan’s mindset but there was also that nagging feeling that he had lost his mojo those first few months.

     

     

    It was great to hear Joe articulate it , makes you wonder why no one else has written or spoken about it.

    I have noticed a few posters, BADA BING in particular asking Paul67 to give praise to Brendan, I would like to echo those thoughts.

     

     

    Surely after such an historic win it’s time to let go of those feelings we all had to different degrees when BR left mid season. I’ve always supported Paul, albeit in a quiet way, it does seem strange that he still holds a grudge.

     

    Brendan might not be yours or my first choice to go have a beer but he’s certainly my first choice manager for Celtic.

    Corkcelt- I’m in almost exactly same emotional space as you.

     

     

    That sometimes uneasy blend of hope and expectation that is being a Celtic fan.

     

     

    Three very difficult away games against top sides.

     

     

    Competing reasonably against all three and actually picking up more than zero points would be progress.

     

     

    We’ll need to be better again with the ball (and a fair bit better) to have a chance.

    In the old format at this stage you just had to worry about 3 other teams. Now it’s 35 other teams that affect whether we qualify or not – but I like it.

    It was great to hear Joe articulate it , makes you wonder why no one else has written or spoken about i… Interesting the way he talked about what Ange had done and the Brendan used that but slowly changed. He speaks well and I would be happy to listen to him talk about his time at Celtic.

    Yes, it’s a very interesting format

     

     

    It’s a league table but you also have a “knock out” element to it…

     

     

    If we were playing Slovan away, they would know quite a bit about us, be more wary and be looking for revenge.

     

     

    As it happens, as well as giving ourselves three points and goal difference, we also inflicted damage on a competitor that we might not play for another sixty years.

     

     

    The reality is having at least eight Clubs below us is more important than being currently in the top eight…

    We still have much tougher games to come but the +4 goal difference could be important in the final table as well as the points (so long as we don’t take a couple of hammerings).

    Over and above our result, great start to the new format.

     

     

    I really hope the eight game format results in EVERY team getting points.

     

     

    I think it would vindicate the expansion.

     

     

    In recent years we’ve seen teams being soundly thrashed six times picking up zero points.

     

     

    Not a good look for an apex competition.
