    they were both rubbish today

    Lenny clearly favours Hooper …

The 451 at the huns was failing before we went 1 down and 1 man down, Lenny changed it but once Cha was off formations were out the window.

  3. I don’t get all this criticism.

Were yiz all in the company of the Misanthropic Society’s Annual Day Out today?

That was a good game of football against a well organised top 6 team who worked very hard to stifle our game. We had 60% possession, 14 shots (8 on target, and committed only 4 fouls. We deserved our win. It was not a walkover 5:0 type of game and, for me, there is more merit in one of today’s victories than there is when we steam roller a demoralised Aberdeen whose players go hiding, for example. These sorts of disciplined victories are exactly the type of game that wins leagues.

Long may Neil continue to get his tactics and line ups so spectacularly wrong. We must be hell of a lucky to win so many matches with such a poor management team :-)

  4. Glad of win.

Stokes should never have been taken off.

    Lustig, why?

Flat again today, but with league won can understand.

Need a huge improvement against hearts.

    Hate them worse than huns…

  5. Sami switched to try and bring Commons into game in first half. Thought KC was really quiet overall but and a big but, played his part on both goals. He does have quality but doesn’t look interested much of the time.

I am afraid you are probably right.

I watched Sean Maloney playing for Wigan. He is tracking back and defending really well. He does not look out of place in the EPL.

So, my point is, a good coach should get more out of Paddy than we are seeing.

Who does the coaching at CP?

  7. 3 points won despite a below par performance – our passing at times was poor – we never really got it into feet for the front two.

Sammi MOTM – problem today was too often our bhoys gave him the ball then stood back and let him get on with it (shades of Aiden).

Brown worked hard, big FF looked assured, thought Commons came on to a game after Ki was introduced.

Hopefully when we get over the line next week – the team will relax and get back to their free-flowing style in time for the semi .v. the minis.

We’ve worked hard for this title – looking forward to Lenny and the team enjoying the run-in as Champions!

Jeez – even the tiniest amount of criticism puts a crimp in your afternoon. We’re just discussing the game – the pluses and the minuses. Get over yourself.

  9. Thought commons looked a tad heavy . as did hooper . sammi certainly put in a power of work . but some quality players needed badly .

  10. We play our best football when we have wingers on form, Commons and Forrest last season and Forrest this season, as soon as Forrest hit the wall a few months back we’ve struggled.

  11. I would cut Mikael Lustig a bit of slack considering that was his second game in the Hoops, what I did like about him is he passes the ball with pace, I thought he did okay today and of course young Adam is going to slot in he’s been there most of the season.

Even before the kick off the towels were getting chucked on here, I don’t understand it myself seeing that the team are one point from the title.

    Maybe I am easy pleased..

On holiday at the moment, so got to the game, first since December. Very disappointed at how the stadium emptied as we got to within a point of the title.

  13. kevinlasvegas on

Just back from my trip to Paradise and thought sammy was ace, ran the channels and pulled players all over the park, Brown,Mulgrew were both excellent and I thought Lustig was solid. Mathews done well and KC looked better as the game went on. Hooper and Stokes are both way off the boil though. Neil shouldn’t play players off form. loovens did ok but has burned his bridges as far as i’m concerned. Team gelled better when Ki came on i thought, But againg the attitude is wrong and application and the juggled team selection, especially the CBs. anyway another 3 pts towards the title. But i have my doubts already for a fresh season i think we need more experience on and off the park if we are to dominate the spl.

I have looked into this site most of the day,I didn’t see anyone throw in the towel, unless you mean they have a different opinion than you.

  16. Fourstonecoppi….

most of these punters, i’ll wager, bought their tickets with the promise of a party today. Most of them cant be arsed supporting the team during the good and the bad.

    …………

Most of that crowd forked out around £500 in the summer, you do them a disservice I’d say.

Great crowd and long may it continue.

All i can say to people having a go at the team just now is i have one foot in both camps, i think they have defo took their feet off the gas with the title, but we are miles off from being a good team, we are ok and i just glad the points margin is what it is because this team to me look fragile and bereft of ideas just now and wouldn’t take much to wobble on the run in just like last season. I can’t help but think Neil will be the masters of his own downfall with his subs and selections.

I don’t get all this criticism.

Really just discussing the game, nothing more. But criticism is a positive thing, IT shows passion and a desire for improvement.

There are several things that irk me about some players: For example, Hooper’s first touch. Has he worked on it ? Stokes’ first second and third thought is how can I score. Too often this selfishness thwarts the opportunity for his team-mates who are better placed.

But the one trait I won’t abide is lack of effort. This is just my opinion but we have two up front who leave much to be desired in that respect. It was evident today, in my opinion anyway.

  21. kevinlasvegas on

67heaven i think either thommo or johan should move on for maybe an older head. we seem to have no plan B and today it was going to take a mistake or set piece to score after the first 10 mins that’s how obvious and inexperienced the team looked. 4-4-2 does work with our strikers im affraid , they may be too similiar and both have terrible first touches sometimes and lack of each others awareness.

the wee man always worked hard, has throughout his career, players are as good as they are and have their own strengths and weaknesses, which can be improved with a willingness from the player.

so for example, player goes to manager says i want to play, manager says o.k i’ll give you a shoot, if you work harder run yourself into the ground every week. o.k boss, so he gets his game and what happens lazy, what does the boss do, get him to run more at training? no

look at MON’s team, bring in players get them to do what you want, if they dont do what you want then bring in somebody who will.

I thought the reaction to Glen Loovens be included was way over the top, with Bangura and Brozek injured we didn’t have much choice up front.

I’m not a fan of freaking out every time Neil changes the team, we here all the time that Champions win even when they don’t play well, does that apply to Celtic or are we sometimes to critical of the team?

Today for instance instead of looking at where we went wrong I would be looking at where St Johnstone went right, they came up for a game and gave us a game but we stuck to the task and got the victory.

Strikers need good service to score goals.

We lack creativity and imagination in midfield which would make a difference to them. Given decent opportunities both can finish.

I do not like criticising players but Mr Stokes takes away more than he brings to the party.

Not quite a man short but more negs than positives.

Hooper looked a bit off the pace, maybe not 100%.

Hope Stokes does a Sammy on me and has a great run in.

Looked like a team designed not to fall behind. St J looked quite big and physical and will give any team a game.

  27. Up over goal

“Jeez – even the tiniest amount of criticism puts a crimp in your afternoon. We’re just discussing the game – the pluses and the minuses. Get over yourself. ”

My afternoon remains uncrimped following my joy at yet another Celtic victory in the run in to this title. You, in fact sound decidedly more crimped than me as you strive to find fault with these young men who are providing us with such a good season.

People are fully entitled to criticise and, boy!, do they not love to exercise that right. There are undoubtedly areas of the team that need improvement and where better performances can be obtained but, I’ve seen too many recent failed seasons to give myself too much time to devote to looking for the black lining to a silver cloud.

See this idea that changes in position and tactics and team line ups means that you got the line up and tactics wrong originally, that is what we call a false assumption. From false assumptions you get distorted conclusions.

Good managers react to changing events. Good managers react to opponents successes. Lenny never let St. Johnstone settle today. Commons moved from the wing to the middle, switching with Broony. Sammi swapped wings with Kris. All of this gave new challenges to their immediate opponents.

That’s what I like about Lenny. He doees not settle for playing favourites and keeping things settled, though he gets all the usual cliched jibes about no Plan B, subs at the wrong time, not playing the critic’s favourites etc; etc; Right from the Ross County game, he showed a ruthlessness about early subs and tactical variety which was missing from Tony Mowbray’s game. Lenny is a restless, dis-satisfied manager. A winner.

Some of those changes he makes are designed to take advantage of a game that gets stretched after the hour mark and opponents who have been tired by trying to keep up with the movement of Hooper and Stokes etc; The subs and the changes are not admissions of failure, they are game changers which bear the fruit earned by the earlier efforts of those who are replaced. And, by the way, it worked today. Again.

When Gordon was winning 3 in a row, Celtic Park became a very unpleasant place in which to enjoy a winning team. We reaped what we sowed then by helping to create a climate in which Rangers won 3iar.

By all means, bump our gums about perceived failings on this blog, but let’s try to keep the moaning and the panicking away from the ground because it does adversely affect the team. Every loudmouth that chooses to shout out a scathing witticism during lulls in crowd noise, contrbutes negativity to our attempts at winning whilst they earn the applause of the unthinking few around them. Just listen to our opponents talk. They like nothing better than the sound of a dissatisfied Celtic support; it helps them and does not help Celtic.

On the blog, it does not matter much. Get tore in for all your worth but don’t be surprised if you get a reaction from some. We all have the self-same rights to criticise. I just chose a different target than our manager and players.

I’m over myself now, thanks for asking :-)
