Man United are Leeds’ biggest rivals – the fans hate United more than anyone else. It’s a Yorkshire Lancashire thing, made worse by the violence in the 70s
*actually I thought liverpool were, worked with a scouser who called them the manks a play on the mancs word, effin hated them, the manure/leeds thing is more of a “war of the roses”.
Anyone else remember Neil Mochan scoring 5 goals against St Mirren in Scottish Cup at Celtic Park? 1960 it was. 5-2 final score. And to think Neil so often played at left back.
*It was a 2nd replay and Neill was deployed at centre that night as that’s what he was originally signed as, if my memory serves me well for the venue it had been decided on the toss of the coin, they had walloped us in the semis the year before, possibly Bobby Evans swan song as Gerry Baker tore a new rear end in him, and they were singing “oh when the saints go marching in”, that night our support were gleefully signing “oh when the saints go marching out”.
A rare sight, a Jim Craig goal for Celtic. And in a cup final too against Hibs in 1969 LCF. Interesting stat, the only outfield Lisbon Lion not to score in a major final was John Clark.
Tontine Tim @ 3.52…correct, it was a second replay, the venue decided by the toss of a coin.
And the year before when the Saints went marching in they won the final against Aberdeen. I remember I had a calendar with a colour photo of Tommy Bryceland scoring the first goal…
Do you remember the first ever final to be broadcast live in 1957 between Falkirk and Killie which ended 1-1?

Collins had the chance to visit all his old haunts and thoroughly enjoyed his return, particularly one memorable day against Rangers at Ibrox.
It was the last game of the season, 18 AprilBobby Collins slams home a goal against Rangers in 1970 with Joe Jordan in close attendance 1970, and Rangers had long since seen Celtic claim yet another championship, their fifth in succession. Morton enjoyed one of the greatest days in their history, emerging 2-0 victors.
As Collins recalled: ‘I grabbed a goal, which was really pleasing. I remember playing a ball wide and running through for the return. After sidestepping the goalkeeper, I stopped the ball on the line and waited for the defender to come back. As he approached, I waited until the last moment before crashing it into the roof of the net. The look on home supporters’ faces was priceless!’
Joe Jordan: ‘In his body language at that moment of triumph you could see that, even at that late stage of his career, all his passion for football and the hard edge of competitiveness were in full working order. Collins played Sunday football into his sixties. Only age could interfere with his rage to play – and to win.

Well took the dog around the field outside and missed the two United goals!
Anyways……looking at a shot of the ManU fans, you would be lucky if 10% wore colours, safer I suppose.

Tontine Tim,
I lived for a while in Liverpool. In the local, if Liverpool were playing Man U, even the Evertonians were supporting Liverpool.

4 St Michael’s boys in that photo. I could have been the 5th but handicapped by lack of ability.

Let’s go……

I cannae wait for the 26th & Easter Saturday..
Just being there.
MAGICAL.
And I’m told hand ball too…..
Referee didn’t give it. VAR told him to check monitor.
Penalty followed by much gnashing of teeth…or much gnashing of gums for the less fortunate…
Just had a peek on dead club mesia there,
Orcs not happy McGregor had two good saves to keep it 0 1
Who is the brave guy on var??
The Ibrox hordes getting restless. Wonder if anyone has been sent in at HT to have a word with the ref 🤔
Jags good value for their lead. McGregor has had to make a couple of big saves.
I said yesterday I’d be happy to get them in the quarters. Maybe it will be the Jags instead.
Good afternoon and WELCOME to HUN PENALTY BINGO.

Dont know why Marvin is backing the ‘no penalty’ line. They would drown him in a spoonful of water.
By the way their new 10 million signing Cantwell looks like he will struggle to stand up in a strong breeze.
Speaking of that, Cantwell has been hooked at HT and Kent on.
