  1. We need better players to beef up this squad. We have struggled the whole game to break these giants down.

  2. FT.

Not the start expected or wanted. Three points gratefully accepted but that was way too close.

As every SPFL ref does , Robertson blows for every possible foul against Celtic, books at any opportunity.

    It’s so blatant

Tbh, he’s one of the worst. Noticed that towards the end of last season.

Watch how many of our games he gets this season. Especially some of the potentially tough ones.

Some of stats in some games are nuts

We can have 70% possession and have more fouls against

  4. Not an easy match. St Mirren parked the bus. Our new players are just learning the system. Given that, a welcome result.

  5. hard fought but welcome 3 points. Well done McCowan on getting the goal. Jamesie gave us something extra when he came on. Defensively very solid with Scales my MOM.

  6. A team thhat doesnt want to do anything in the game but defend only tries to go forward when they’re behind, a captain who might be a Tim[ Fraser] but he doesnt half dive and roll about, well done Celtic finishing needs to be much much better Idah several times and Maeda a one on one.

  7. Result but a few takeouts for me.

Yang, not game aware enough. Don’t know if that’s still to be gained.

Idah hasn’t worked on things he should have IMO. control poor.

However, we moved on and hopefully improve.

A dynamic LB (whether GT previously or KT) is necessary. You saw difference when LS switched after KT went off.

Nygren will need to improve. His touch looked heavy, his crosses need more pace.

    Reo- SHOOT!!!

Hopefully just bad day at the office for Daizen.

Adam- did nothing to get the naysayers off his back

Wonder why Yamada didn’t get a spell

We deserved it. St Mirren carried all the luck. Until they didn’t. The subs made a huge difference, especially Forrest. Glad to see some appreciation for him when he came on. McCowan also really impactful, obviously. Yang won’t do as a starter. Ever.

I have a lot of time for big Idah. He saved our season in 2024 and is a valuable member of our squad. However, the pressure of of being our number 1 striker is too great for him. Needs someone to share that burden with him. I thought Kenny looked bright when he came on.

MoTM was Scales, despite nearly giving a goal away with a terrible throw in. He was otherwise excellent all game.

Dick of the match was Don Robertson who did his usual of breaking up play, giving the other team everything and doing his best for the huns.

    Nae luck Don.

There has been some debate over whether we’re weaker this season . On today’s evidence it’s a definite yes . I hope the board are not holding off on the upgrades we need to see if we qualify for the CL or we might not get there . I also hope we can sort Daizens contract out as he looked a pale shadow of himself.

  11. Thought Idah worked hard and looked very fit for the first game of the season. Unlucky a couple times in front of goal, but a good run out for me.

That St Mirren team are not easy on the eye but they will take points off the huns.

  13. A good weekend.

We’ve also been given our CL play off warning.

    Get a right winger, Celtic.

Thought Nygren played well myself. First 20 minutes anyway, then we stopped passing to him. Also think that St Mirren uses obstruction as a tactic. Particularly at dead ball situations. And when was the last time Obstruction was given in a game?

  15. Btw, I love the man, but if Idah misses those 2 Meada chances there’s hell to pay.

I’d say it’s down to credit in the bank but Idah won us a double not too long ago…

  16. poor from Celtic today – slow sticky pitch didn’t help our play.No creativity until forrest came on. We’ve known that for 6 months now! I think Yang is a good player but he needs instructions to attack his man. I suspect he’s told to pass inside to fit Rodgers possession game – Johnson getting in his way didn’t help.

  17. Rodgers says very good performance – spoke well. Clearly needs 2-3 new players to add quality and spark

  18. Very chuffed for Luke. To score the winning goal in front of The Maestro, well it doesn’t get much better than that. Thank you, Luke.

  19. Hard first game of the season playing against the Harlem Globetrotters, without any of the ball skills, and an extremely poor referee; fouls against no problem but for the Bhoys, nothing to see here.

I admit that I saw it through green tinted glasses but didn’t the ball strike O’Hara’s arm before Callum’s.

3 points, top of the league!

  20. A welcome 3 points.

I agree with STEBHOY, our new pitch looked ” sticky” and slowed the ball.

Brendan doing the smart thing by praising the team performance in contrast to Russel Martin throwing his team under the bus yesterday . Brendan knows we have a few tough games coming up and he ‘ll likely have to do it without reinforcements . Clever psychology .
