  2. I noticed the smoke & mirrors by MON midweek, commenting that we’re too far behind with too few remaining games to make up the GD deficit on those ahead of us. That simply isn’t true though… or MON is making a damning assessment of our attacking players!

Given that we have both R&H at home, where two 2-0 wins should be the minimum target if we are serious about defending our title, then a similar victory for H against R with even a single goal win by us at Easter Road the previous day, will leave us 2 shy of both R&H on GD.

Our next 2 home games against Saints and Falkirk give us a goalden opportunity to overturn that deficit, with both R&H facing tougher challenges in their next couple of games.

  4. Not completely convinced with that midfield line-up though they did okay in the first half last week.

That said it is up to the players who start the game, if we can get in front in the first half, we have some good options on the bench for the second. Lets send out a message…..

Only one team going for five in a row….

MON, for all his attributes, is chronically conservative.

Form wise, how can Sarrachi not get a start yet Ralston does??

  7. If, as the MSM seem to be s̶u̶g̶g̶e̶s̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ guessing, we’re going to sell Engels & Nygren in the summer for a combined c.£50M, plus potentially another £10M for Maeda & Hatate, who are we realistically going to sign to fill all the gaping holes in the squad with the necessary quality?

Of the remaining players we have Jota, Johnston and CCV all to return from long term significant injuries which may impede them from reaching the same levels they were at prior. We have Tierney v2 likewise not having the same impact as v1, Schmeichel finished, Forrest, Ralston and Bernardo likely on their way out, McGregor, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Iheanachu son drawing their pensions, and numerous loan and invisible players who are or will be completely out of the picture.

Taking into account the above, then in a worst case scenario we could have to seek replacements over the next 2-3 windows (probably 60-70% front loaded to this summer’s window) for as many as 22 players listed in our first team squad on the Celtic website!

Good luck finding enough quality players to meet these needs. And gelling them into a cohesive unit to be doing the business week in week out from early August, with the added recruitment challenges caused by the World Cup!

  8. If our misfiring strikers tale their first half chances then I think the whole team would get a significant lift. Imagine playing behind Cvancara and watching him miss chance after chance – you would be gutted.

For the life of me I cannot understand why he is starting today. I guess by the law of averages he is overdue a day when the misses go in.
