  1. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

In the first half today, GMS was a one man forward line.

Neither Dembele, nor Sinclair featured in anything we tried.

There were other players who could be scapegoats, if scapegoats are required.

Class told in the end, but the Buddies deserve great credit for making us work for it……and they played it in the true spirit of the game.

Cheers, great day, I am very close too both of my Sevconian stepdaughters, highlight for me was MissGFTB saying “our mass is far better & not as long” her big sisters also laughed at that :-)

  3. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Gerry, I hope you and the family had a really good day today and no sore head for you in the morning.

Brendan was good in his post match interview. The four best Scottish teams I have seen us play at Celtic Park this season have been Alloa and St Mirren (both managed by Jack Ross when have played them), Thistle and St Johnstone.

If Gary had scored that chance earlier in the game, his confidence would have been boosted. His lack of confidence showed by not taking it first time.

Gary’s finishing in the second half of last season was good.

  4. Talking to Jobo and his son at CQN Corner today about the Goals for Shay competition. Jobo Junior asked if BeatonBhoy 67 had played his Joker with his Sevco selection ! Very good.

    Zig and zag…..

Sentiment ….I love it …these guys are the future….money leaves you …..love never does…

    —————————–

I disagree, as I’ve said. I’ll stand by my sentiment statement too that’s got your knickers in a twist. I want us to improve and make a fist of Europe, where we should now be aiming. GMS ain’t got it and at 27 ain’t got the personality to establish himself at a big club. I know the feelgood kool aid on here has got us all benevolent, warm and fuzzy right now but I’d hope Brendan sees the wood from the trees as far as next season goes….

    Thomthethim 7.59pm

That was my thoughts exactly, Moussa, Sinclair or anybody else were not on the ball to get the grief…. I posted earlier if BR thinks GMS is good enough for our starting 11, good enough for me

  7. fairhill bhoy on

Vfr:1:57pm?the goals you mention are both about speeding up play, both subs where crucial to the speedy up thing didn’t see:-))

  8. South Of Tunis on

    DOUG BAILLIE . Oh !!!

A tub of lard with a Desperate Dan jaw and the turning circle of Hattie Jacques.

Went on to pen onion bag / postage stamp corner / hapless custodian guff for the Sunday Post .

Big role in one of many stoned out my napper Glasgow stories –

Wacked on mighty fine Chitrali, on the tube with my mate Zooney , on gets an enormously fat chap in a Deady Bears top and a very tight pair of minging white polyester shorts . The full on condom stuffed with walnuts look and a pair of mortadella legs . Cue Zooney saying -look S of T – it’s Doug Baillie..

    I nearly died !!!

    Dallas 8.02pm

No hangover for the Monday 6.30pm shift (& our move) we had a great day, even better the Church was next to the wee hotel I watch our games in, a bit of grub and shouting at the telly, it was 0-1 by the time we reached our lunch table, thankfully the bhoys wore their opponents down, you are correct with Jack Ross he set Alloa up well against us and also St Mirren, I have no love for St Mirren but hope Jack keeps them up ………

  10. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

No doubt some Sevco no-mark will come out and say how Brendan’s comments about St Mirren being the best team we have played are “disrespectful”……

  11. Good to see that quite a few on here are willing to give GMS some leeway. Any player with talent has a chance to be a success in this team of ours. Big Wavy believes GMS does not have it; I believe he does. Up to BR how long he gives HMS to shine but whilst Brendan selects Gary M, we should support the player.

    Cheerio for now,

    JJ

PS I popped in to the CSA today to buy one of the Lisbon Lions scarves. Very attractive.

  12. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Delaney’s, the guy who sometimes wore the leather coat. I think his first name was Davie. He might have been pally with a guy who went with the lions for the first year, Paul? who came from Petersen Park

  13. Neustadt-Braw on

Well you are certainly well named…

I wish you as well as your nearest and dearest probably do…

  14. Brendan,…..

    Brendan,…..

    Brendan,…..son,…

Yer mis-managing GMS in the way that wee super Joe Miller was mis-managed!

Brendan, son,….please play GMS in behind big Moussa…running onto the ball, racing into the penalty box, making him unplayable….like, wee super Joe Miller was when he was played in his ‘correct’ position in the 1989 SCF and when he played with ma 2nd favorite team – Aberdeen FC – back in the day.

Oh,….another thing Brendan son,….see in games like today’s, especially in the 1st half when going wide wisny working, it can pay off at times to improvise and go……long!

Now, when MO’N was here, we had a player called big Chris Sutton and, another called big John Hartson.

Ye see Brendan son, sometimes you’ll no get roon a parked bus.

So, if you have players like big CS and, big JH then, you can go over the bus!

Maybe, a wee thing to think about ?

Maybe even bring in big CS’s wee brother John, sprinkle him with some of yer wee JF, big SA magic dust and,……..hey-presto…..ye get a Cellic version of Norman Whiteside!!!

Or,…..Brendan son, maybe yer an ideallist ?

Nothing wrong with that…..in an ideal world.

    Brendan son…..thanks.

Thoughts and Prayers for every Celt.

Take me to your Paradise, ah want to see The Jungle…..

    Dr Who tardis – CSC

    ….off-oot

  15. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    Big Wavy,

I disagree with your estimation of GMS, I think he is easily good enough and BR is the man to prove you wrong.

  16. In terms of effort, work rate, bravery, closing down, tracking back, no one in the team was better than GMS in the first half. Unfortunately his decision making and passing were poor and he seemed to have the wrong boots on as he kept slipping and falling over. He is lacking in confidence at the moment and he is very much a confidence player. He never hid, it was just not his day.

  17. Was in the Jock Stein lower today and an eejit almost directly behind me started giving GMS grief shortly after the players came out of the huddle!

After about five minutes he demanded – “Get him aff! Noo!”

Must do wonders for a player’s confidence when others join in.

Had a most enjoyable day today, as I always do at Celtic Park.

Wont be there on Sunday, ‘tho. Never again against that mob.

    HH!!

  18. excathedra44 on

For what it is worth,I thought GMS never hid,he did miss a good chance, similar to the St.J game where he tried to contort his stance to his favoured left foot.

This I don’t understand as playing for D.Utd he appeared to me to be 2 footed, and had these chances been presented to him in a tangerine jersey,he would have scored them all.

Seems to me he is trying too hard to make sure he does not miss and unfortunately he did.

That said he won several 50/50 tackles neither JF or PR would have attempted, or won, only to mis-hit the final ball.

Despite what was deemed a poor half for GMS, Dembele and Sinclair also squandered chances with far less ire from the fans.

Seems to me we should give the boy a break, as many others have been afforded opportunities to adapt.

  19. Gerryfaethebrig on

    KevJ 8.14pm

Enjoyed your post the other morning hope the family are doing well…..

GMS nearly shoited himself the day when two on two, you can’t teach footballers to be strikers it’s a natural habit :-)

But am sure Brendan knows far more than us eijits …..

Hope you are enjoying Brendan’s inaugural season

  20. GMS will never be a great player for us playing wide right, unless he gets his right foot in gear.

  21. If the Dons lose against Motherwell on Sat can we become champions on Sunday against Sevco

It’s aw well and good sticking up and backing players, but ffs, stop trying to be the ultimate supporter,GMS isny gony make it at Celtic

  24. Canamalar

I’d expect the pursuit of Henry Onyekuru, at 19, is a sign of how things will pan out on the wing.

But you’re right fella. Let’s see. All about opinions.

  25. Respect to Jack Ross, he has something about him.

Brendan would have had the Bhoys Knowing this was a Cup Final.

St Mirren obviously done very well, I’m happy, my current work m8 is a Saints Supporter and is off to Kirkcaldy on Wednesday.

I told him he should get to Styx, as he will have Time to spare leaving from work @ 4 PM.

  26. GMS is a good player. No doubt. But this game today was probably one of the toughest games & he was involved in as were the two CB’s & KT & ML. I like him & want him to do well but he is a confidence player.

Hopefully he will get another chance as there will be more………..
