Boomer played with Stuart Armstrong and Gary MS for two years at Tannadice. The day they signed for us I phoned Chris for his view, considering he was training with Gary and Stuart every day. He told me that Stuart Armstrong will be the best player in Scotland and Celtic captain soon. GMS is skillfull but never a Celtic class player.

Efe’s high praise of Brendan despite knowing he will never play for us again, is an example of how good he is with the players.

After reading back, I thought I would pop in and add my toupenceworth. Really looking forward to Lisbon and please God we get an all green final as the CQN group are planning to watch our final before we return home on the Sunday. I have watched Celtic for over 50yrs and I can honestly say, Brendan is the first manager that I can recall, where you can see the changes he makes, why he makes them and actually see them working. And I know from reading on here, loads of people say the same thing. So I really don’t understand the negative posts 20 minutes into the game when, given Brendan’s track record, some people don’t have more faith in him. Listen, this run will undoubtedly come to an end some day but for goodness sake, let’s give the manager and the players enormous credit for the wonderful season we’re having. I have been to games where the attendance has been 13,000. I have discussed attendance figures with family and friends and the consensus is that there is probably a hard core 25-30,000 fans who , win, loose or draw will be there. So when the team are doing well it’s fare to say there are 25-30,000 glory hunters. I hate to hear Celtic players being abused. It is counterproductive. I only ever played amatuer but even at that level you need confidence. So when players come in for a rare appearance, surely it’s better to encourage them and build up their confidence. Imagine the player taking dogs abuse was your Son, brother, Grandson or nephew. I truly believe we are the best fans in the world but some people need to appreciate what we have. Hamiltontim, I’ve heard people say that 90% of Glasgow taxi drivers are Tims(a bit high I think) but you were unfortunate to get one of the 10%, (smiley thing). Finally, God Bless Big Billy. May God look after him and his family at this really difficult time. I myself have lost a beautiful sister to dementia. She was only 53. It is a horrible condition which can tear family’s apart. And finally RIP Tommy Gemmell. HH
It’s weird reading the blog and comments focussing on just Gary Mackay-Steven’s performance.
During the first half Celtic looked anything like themselves. It’s easy to forget they are just a group of young guys playing a game. But there is 11 of them.
Couldn’t get the idea out my head they looked like a team playing down the Green Sunday morning, after spending Saturday night up the dancing. Disinterested, clumsy and looking like they didn’t want to be there.
The usual petulance was on display in the stands, not only GMS was getting “it”, Boyata misplaced two passes and got grief !
My main point is this: At the match, as a supporter, if you’ve nothing good to say then keep your need to blame in your head.
In my 21 years (ok that’s a lie) on the planet I’ve never came across a football player who got a boost from jeers.

In that time I’ve watched Celtic players struggle under our assessment. Most recently Efe Ambrose.
There’s a guy playing at centre-back today who should be a lesson to the opinionated stupidity of (parts of) our support.

It reminded me of a game we played Hibs just after Neil became caretaker boss.
The crowd was around the 30000 to 35000 mark . Hibs went 2 1 up , but the supporters at that game were those who wanted to support our team and backed the team . We won the game 3 2 .
It was the first time my son , who was 10 at the time , realised how the support can help the team. He mentioned it to me after the game , he could not believe how loud our fans were that day.
I bumped into a hun I know a few hours after the game. He had started watching our game on the internet when were 2 1 down. He told me our third goal was offside. I said to him we are always being told these things even themselves out . He was beelin.

Hear hear.
I now watch the first 41 to 45 minutes knowing that we are wearing the opposition down.
I get annoyed at times with the ball rotation in that period, but the system works.
