Sad news reading of the death of a sixteen year old in Irvine.

Noticed that PoliceScotland were interested in hearing from those who may have been around at the time of the incident, which suggests, to me at least, that they were not. Almost impossible to contact any Police Statioin n in Scotland directly, and just as difficult indirectly via email etc. Now, you would think that, given the weather in those parts of Scotland, and given also that a post sunset beach party was taking place on Irvine Beach you might think that there might just be a local police presence in situ at said beach, to keep an eye on things like say a lifeguard might do, (though they are few and far between too) but apparently not. That would be too much like forward thinking for senior officers, hence we hear only from them after he crime has been committed, preventative local policing absent, reactionary policing always present. Makes you wonder what Police Scotland’s priorities actually are, apart from approving, supporting and marching alongside multiple Orange Walks that is, instead of taking an active role in local policing of a proactive and preventative nature. Some hope of that.

  2. KT on for a farewell cameo for Arsenal against Newcastle

“There’s only one Kieran Tierney” chant the Arsenal fans.

Nice touch it has to be said.

  3. The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on

KT on for the Gooners. Fans singing his name. He must be very highly regarded.

I get he doesn’t fit “the model”, but Calmac and JF will not be around forever. Part of the problem at the huns stems from having virtually no huns in the team. Having players who bleeds green and white is imperative. The intangible value is huge.

  4. !!bada bing!!

But is that after the fact? According to the reports I have read Police Officers “were called” to the scene of the crime at or around 6.45pm, which suggests they were not there beforehand. That fifty officers were available, well that means there were no shortage of resources in the area at the time. Hard to believe a murder could have been committed with so many police in attendance. Any times on the videos you have looked at?

Jingle Jangle reporting Wee Barry is ‘gutted’ as he spent hours on Thursday pleading his case for the manager job……..after successfully joining the dots on his application

  6. Ah well looks like it is straight back to Beeb Scotland (via the open door policy for sacked huns) for Messrs Billy Dodds, and Neil McCann. Might even find a spot for Bazza….

  7. The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on

…….wouldn’t surprise me if “Greegs” got a spot as well.

  8. Gutted about Bazza …

Worse record than Clemont but “our” press still adamant he steadied the ship :-)

    My aching sides …

Roll on the next boss for Brendan to school …

    Happy daze (sic)

  9. Silly me just spent 40 minutes reading The Celtic Bhoys Blogg .with someone called suray mahanty (sp) A celtic blogg this isn’t. No upbeat news about the celts , his blogg is all about the players who are leaving us or causing interest from clubs abroad .all our top men . Not what I want to read after a trophy day . Site blocked .

Will you still be celebrating about 2pm in Alfredo’s tomorrow ?

    (please say no)

    God bless our Brendan 🍀🍀🍀🍀

  12. dickinson has years left in the mib role . He will cause us many problems , we should get it out there we know his game plan ,he nearly cost us yesterday , he is not to be taken lightly he is a bigoted Hxx .

  13. Totally appreciate Burnley78 updates in CL qualifiers.. but this Celtic team and this Celtic manager should fear not one team in the qualifiers …

Atalanta were flying in serie A and we drew 0-0 in Italy the Dortmund spanking was the best Dortmund have played all season …

Am confident Brendan will get us to the group stages … and maybe even better than last season

  14. My friends in Celtic,

I hope and think we will win the treble.

Regardless, its been another memorable season. We have blown away domestic opposition and have restored credibility in Europe.

Our manager is top dollar and his communication skills are much valued in the modern game. When he speaks, people listen.

Can we improve ? Of course we can, but at the end of our league campaign its good to reflect on how well we are doing.

Under the stability of Michael Nickleson, Peter Lawwell, Dermot Desmond et al , Supporters are clamouring to buy our tickets. We are in demand. Lots of clubs would aspire to have our sucessful leadership.

But its not just on the park we are setting the standards.

Off the park we are enhancing our infrastructure with the development of Barrowfield.

We have a social integration policy that has become a major Scottish institution promoting health, education and inclusiveness. Our value to local enterprise and business is massive.

From breakfast clubs, free warm meals to disabled viewing platforms, we are moving forward for the community.

Just look at the Hibs game, we had Zander the guide dog puppy on the pitch with Daizen Maeda.promoting accessability and inclusiveness. A little thing maybe, but to some priceless.

Its easy to complain, and I often do. But the big picture is one of great Celtic times.

    HH, the journey continues.

  15. God bless our Brendan

Peter Lawell is more of a Celtic fan than many of his detractors

And …. Enjoy every minute of every success 🍀🍀

One day it might not be as good ……

  16. Rijeka blew their first attempt tonight by losing 2-1 at Split.

They have another go v Slaven (5th not bottom as mentioned previous) next weekend.

I respect folks think it doesn’t matter who we play but for me only Basel would really worry me of the unseeded ones. I would be less sure v Bodo or Red Star or Copenhagen or Zagreb.

  17. I say the above mindful of the fact we could well lose Kuhn, Maeda, Taylor and have to bed Tiernay into a team and structure which could also be missing an injured Hatate.

With such likely transition it won’t be easy. Even if Daizan and Kuhn are not yet exited.

Not for the first time, I’m in complete agreement with your post.

    Well said

A late call. Shipbank Shipwrecks 12pm on Friday 23rd May at the Old Ship Bank. I shall post a reminder on Monday if I sober up.

    Good night you absolute shower.

  21. I’m sure I heard Brendan say Reo would be fine for pre- season.

Could be wrong, wouldn’t be the first time this week.

  22. Catch up soon BRRB …

I might pop into Alfredo’s on my lunch …

The company might be better if your not there :-)

At least I will get a drink on the round

  23. Thought I would look at the orange walks last year, and one in particular had eight arrests. Bear in mind this is not a celebration of a football team’s success at the end of a season but an annual anti- catholic hate fest. The words below are from the police:

Chief Superintendent Stevie Dolan said: “Officers in Glasgow and Lanarkshire made a total of eight arrests during the Orange Order processions on Saturday, 6 July, 2024.

“The offences were mainly for minor acts of disorder.

“A proportionate policing plan was in place and we worked with a range of partners to ensure public safety and minimise disruption to the wider community.

“I would like to thank the vast majority of the participants, and the wider community, who engaged positively and behaved responsibly throughout.”

So the knuckle draggers are thanked and those nasty Celtic supporters are pilloried. What a wonderful country we live in

  24. MissGFTB said to me earlier …

“Dad … kneecap were at the game… how did they tickets”

She is going to see them at … transmit ??

Kneecap …. Tremendous… what every wee fenian wanted to be

Brilliant entertainment listening to some of the bun bloggers talking up how Bazza gave them a real lift when he came in and presided over several great moments (ie beating Mourinho’s side and us at CP).

    A 30% win rate this ‘leg-end’ gave them. 30% ;))

He’s a 2.5million quid illegally enriched and bankrupted totem of a time when they ruled the roost by crooked means – plain and simple.

30% win rate is what orange coloured motors and a staunch coaching team gets ya !!

  26. *SENTINEL CELTS PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2024-25*

*RESULTS FROM GAME #56 CELTIC 1 ST MIRREN 1 (FORREST)*

    Good evening, friends.

Now some may call this a feeble excuse. And they’d probably be pretty much right. But as I’ve spent most of today in the beautiful sunshine with 2 ex-colleagues and loads of (ahem) refreshments then it’s going to be a most succinct match report – JAMES FORREST. And that’s pretty much it!

Trophy Day home games are traditionally never the best. And as yesterday’s game was drawing to a close, it seemed like another was going to fall into that category. Then, in the 93rd minute we got another of those wonderful Celtic Park Magical Moments. A stoppage time equaliser at home to St Mirren shouldn’t really trigger the euphoria that it did. But when Wee Jamesie finally got his first goal of the season it was greeted with the kind of response that only these occasions can provide. Grown men crying. Joy beaming across every Celtic fan’s face. A realisation that player’s like Jamesie are few and far between. And suddenly it was party time!

OK, so we didn’t get the goals we needed for a new SPL record. But, still, it was another day for you and me in Paradise.

We finish this season’s league campaign with the gap at the top remaining 17 points. And a better goal difference of 47 (FORTY SEVEN!).

We have now played 56 games this season. In Europe we played 10, won 3, drew 4 and lost 3 scoring 15 goals and conceding 17. Domestically we have now played 46, winning 36, drawing 6 and losing 4, scoring 143 goals and conceding 33.

Thank you so much to the 57 who voted this time around, the lowest since our defeat to St Johnstone and 4th lowest of the whole season.

The total votes cast for each player are as follows, with my own nominations asterisked.

    Schmeichel: 0

    Johnson*: 13

    Carter-Vickers*: 9

    Forrest*: 55

    McCowan: 3

    Kenny: 12
