Dodgy given how slack we can be at times away in Europe but really should be a comfortable tie over there unless the pitch is as bad as being made out.
Not having a penalty taker before the match is a disgrace and if there was one and there was still arguments then a weeks wage should go to charity.
The penalty itself was poor – where you are taught not to put it.
Good possession and hustle but snatching at shots and not enough composure when receiving the ball with backs to goal inside the box. Too much hot potato stuff.
We should improve.
Remember the good old days when Celtic winning was viewed as a good thing ……….

We played some excellent stuff tonight, need a wee bit more sharpness and concentration levels need work, a couple more games under the belt and we’ll be flying.

Will the naysayers please take a chill pill and give us all a break. It was our first competitive game. We created loads of chances, missed many and also a penalty against a team well into their season who did well last season. We’ll qualify and prove as we progress.
According to BBC sport…22 shots ..9 on target…That aint bad..On and On…2-0…Cool with that…

I’m happy with the result, although we should have killed it off.

Solid win. Half decent performance. Team a bit rusty but got the job done.

Good news from Ronny on the penalty situation. Get it sorted. This mob won’t score at home. Job done we move on.

By the sounds of it, they parked the bus. They won’t be able to do that at home. We will have more space as they come out more, which will suit our (new) natural game.
Plus, we will be a lot less rusty.

A few thoughts on the game:
1. I obviously overestimated the standard of the Icelandic teams. They were fit (as expected), but other than at the start of the second half, didn’t really show much going forward. I expected better from them.
2. We have done enough that we should get through this tie alright.
3. Having said that, we squandered a lot of chances, and early in the second half, could easily have found ourselves behind, in spite of dominating.
4. Same problem for us as last season- good coming out of the back, but little pace or thought as we approach the final third. Wouldn’t take much to fix this, but we need to work on this NOW, as the tough games will come soon.
5. Ciftci’s finishing was not great today, but has the skill and strength to play as the 1 in RD’s favoured system, and will link up well with the forward 3. Once he gets a goal or two, I think he will go from strength to strength. Thought he lead the line well, and is the sort of striker to play in RD’s system.
6. Still think LG and NC would make a good pair in a more orthodox 4-4-2 system (but not sure where SJ would fit in that system).
7. Along with NB, I think DB and SA will be key players for us this year.
8. JF is going to have to step up, or GMS will be taking his minutes.
Me too Tet. Controlled the game. Knew what they were going to do before they did. Worked their weakness, pro performance. Had to leave early, big interview tomorrow……developing story. HH
Thought Brown had a decent game, can’t recall Craig Gordon having to make a save,
and I would put that down to the men playing in front of him,
They had a couple of half chances at the beginning of the second half, but we also had about 4 good chances to score not including the penalty miss,
I’m happy with tonights result, but not to happy with our impatient fans and bloggers who consistently look for negativity in all things Celtic,

Remember the good old days when Celtic winning was viewed as a good thing ……….
You should be used to that on here.Some right closets on with their negative comments,as usual.Get right on ma wick.Compared to the results of teams last night that the doom and gloom merchants were terrified of meeting in the next round,we done very well.
I hipe Dercyk is not another Derk.

Well I would have taken 2-0 at the start but the tie should have been over. Arguing about penalty seems very unprofessional and it was not scored . I am sure we will go through but hard to feel too confident of further progress. I liked the look of Dedryk B but was less impressed with Nadir C of the two debutants. Better to come for sure from the team but until we are playing league football at the same time as these qualifiers these are perilous matches.

Reading some of the stuff on here tonight reminds me why I rarely post here anymore.
Please,just come on and tell them to p!ss off.
Turkeybhoy simpler to go through life enjoying Celtic winning leagues and cups. That might not be enough for some but when you’ve lived through the hungry 90’s this feels like a golden era.
Would all Celtic fans who intend to come onto a Celtic Forum and post their opinions – please p88s off.( Especially in case it’s different to mine )

The view from 405 is that Stjarnan are a poor side who offered very little.
We dominated possession, territory and tempo.
Stjarnan will have to open up to char the tie and I would be very confident that we will win in Iceland, never mind survive the tie
We are entitled to improve for the run and, looking at some other supposedly seeded teams struggling this week, are entitled to be confident of progress to at least the final qualifier
