I am an optimist when it comes to anything Celtic, however I would be anxious if we start the League Opener with Welsh & Scales centre halves.
Have no problem with either one of them but would like to see either of them paired with a more experienced Player, In our case that would be CCV or Starfelt.
If the rumours circulating that Starfelt wants away are true and we don’t have a definite date for CCV’s return then we need to get an oven ready CH or 2 in pronto.
You are obviously not on here very often, and please I don’t mean that in a bad way.

2 points from 6 matches last time .
2 of the 3 teams were beatable.
We knew we needed better players in vital positions.
These players cost money that we can afford.
However your argument doesn’t make sense.

Lambert 14,
I do appreciate your thought process, however our ” failure” was not scoring enough goals. The ratio of chances to conversions was dire.
Scoring more goals that the opposition is an Ange philosophy. We failed.
But we had the players not to fail.

For me….and after todays performances, to do something in Europe, we NEED, a goalkeeper, a left back, a COMMANDING centre half and a goal scoring striker to partner or back up Kyogo
4 player total and we’ll make a SERIOUS impression in Europe

Big physical team with pace – which is what we can expect in the champions league
1st half we should have put 3 or 4 past them and apart from the last 15 mins we looked good
2nd Half was a write off until Kwon came on
boy is kwality and will add some much needed bite
Happy at how our squad is shaping up

Kwon and Calum have the guile to walk over all of the SPFHELL teams…
….and once getting used to each other….will control a lot of our opponents in ye olde Champions League
There were 29007 at Sevco v Olympiakos during the week. Celtic had 28000+ today in Dublin v Wolves. Probably about 26500 were supporting Celtic. I think that says a lot about the enthusiasm and dedication of the Celtic support. I think we compare very favourably with Sevco.
Moderator1888 on
Also Congrats to Scales and Iwata
Both played well
As did Welsh too
For 3 new players in a backline against decent opposition (who beat Porto last game) they coped more than well
Taylor as well, despite the amount of nonsense he gets here
The one big concern is our backline was the distribution from Hart
I love the big guy and as a shot stopper he still has it
But we should be looking to actively upgrade this position
When we have our full defense back with CCV, Johnstone and Starlord/Rocky I think we are more than covered
Have faith in the future bhoys

Good work out today. New guys look fine, early days.
Hart, love the guy but time is up.
If we are serious about progress in Europe we need a top quality keeper.
Think it is SFTB that’s sorting it this time around. 😃🤷🏼♂️

Half their outfield team
Two full backs, two midfielders (5’ 6” & 5’ 9”), one attacker (5’ 8”)
We had a bigger midfield

Moderator 1888, agree with all those players you commend today, very encouraging!!
But Taylor?
He has lots of qualities and is tenacious, fit and by all accounts a bit of a leader in the dressing room. I like him.
But he was roasted today, time after time after time after time after time.
All CL teams play at a fast pace and we can expect to see this on repeat. The flip side is he is tidy and creative going forward but we stay at the same level with him at LB and wont progress.

Anyone who watched that game today and thought Taylor had a good game , must have been on the buckle.
He had a nightmare.
Not his fault. He’s just not good enough.
As for Scales. His first touch is that bad , his second is a slide tackle.
I thought Iwata wS our best out of the back 4and surely now Brendan must see we need a new keeper.
celtic40me on
We seem to have completely forgotten that GT played 6 games in the CL last season. Nobody saw him getting repeatedly roasted. He was good enough last season. What’s happened to make him a worse player? Certainly no lack of form domestically, he lost one game and drew two in the 37 games he played in Scotland
Juranovic had a far worse CL campaign, admittedly not helped by being up against Vinicius Jr and Mudryk
What’s changed? When you’re in the spotlight every mistake is highlighted. It looks like it’s going to be a long season for him and Joe Hart, thankfully both seem to have the strength of character that scapegoats need.

Every game Starfelt played you used to say the same thing
Moderator1888 on
Our back 4 were stretched again with pace
Neither our midfielders, or wingers have a proper defensive bone in their body
What I mean by this is just like last year, in the Champions League, when our play breaks down the turnover very quickly breaches our midfield and our defenders find themselves running backwards with no protection
We get overloaded and struggle
Big time
The other is Taylor is too small and too slight for this level
Where would you rather we spend the cash
Goalie, centre half, left back, winger and striker
Moderator1888 on
I would rather we spend the cash on another solid centre half, providing starlord is going
A solid midfilder ( ala Joe Ledley – who let Izzy be able to express himself without worrying – he did so much for our left backs
A goalkeeper
And a striker
Left back is the least of it
Greg is able to play that position on one provisio??

Lambert 14,
How much do you want to spend. ? Do you anticipate competing with Wolves for example.
I have given you my answers. Abada, Jota, KOK , VVD
Moussa Lubo, Billy Stark even is the way forward. However transfer fees are relative and I’ve every confidence in Mark Lawwell and his team.
——————-
I know you mean well, but if you have to name players signed in the last century then you are maybe out of sync with modern football.
Billy Stark was signed 36 years ago!!!!
You are mistaken
