If I have a criticism it was our dead ball delivery – dare I say mediocre
======
At one stage in first half we had two corners in quick succession, both on the Main Stand side. First one was played short and within two passes we were back at the centre circle. Ball was popped back out to the right and we won another corner! This time pinged into the middle and the keeper plucked it out the air unchallenged.
First, if you’re going to play a short corner at least rehearse it a bit more. Advantage can be totally gone and if you’re not careful you’re susceptible to being punished on counter attack.
Second, a bit more pace needed on dead ball delivery to avoid catching practice for the keeper.
Ntcham had a very good game but not the man for set pieces.

I was quietly confident when the team came out last night and factoring a possibility that Zenit may be a tad undercooked that Celtic would win comfortably. I have say to say even I did not bank on that kind of performance WOW!
We debate on here the performances of players on here and rightly so, the one thing last night validated for me is that players individual form will fluctuate especially when they are young. What determines Celtics overall performance is tempo. When this side plays at tempo they are a joy to behold. Some of the performances this season which could be rated as underperforming have been when the tempo is not right. FAST & AGGRESSIVE that’s the CELTIC FOR ME.

Charly in the build up to the goal was unbelievable particularly when he received the ball and went to the touch line at the start of the move. Twisted the blood of two Zenit defenders held the ball until big Ollie became available before releasing then ran like the clappers to take a return on the edge of the box from the Moose. Jinkyesque.
The Moose’s overall performance put the comment from that clown and well known Arsenal fan Charley Nicholas (feck when they leave us they really do hate us) that he wasn’t worth 12mill even in today’s inflated market into some sort of perspective. Where were the polis?
Obviously they can’t be everywhere.

As I approached the turn,there’s a white SUV,Toyota,I think,wanting to turn out across me. Politely,I indicated early,then flashed my lights. On you go,son.
Nope,nothing. Sat there. Still sat there in my mirrors while I drove down to make my delivery. Then he moved.
Delivery made,I had to turn round,not much space,and as I did so I realised that there was another vehicle on the road.
Politely,he had made way for me. Flashed my lights in gratitude,carried on.
Saw him in my mirror-I’m pretty strong on that!-reversing. Never gave it a thought

Not surprised at some great individual performances , the likes of Dembelle & Simonovic will be judged on theses games when richer clubs show an interest. Overall it was a very fine team performance , that bodes well for the future. The team is growing and learning, the manager adapted and made the proper calls ………..One criticism. Our set pieces don’t threaten. In some games they can be the difference. Must do better in that regard, otherwise , absolutely delighted, especially for a couple of mates that went to Edinburgh yesterday for a visa , for next week. They’ve to make a return journey to Edinburgh on Monday & another £120 for the privilege, of getting visa stamped , all before factoring in the £400 day trip . They won’t complain if they get a similar performance next week. HH
