Celtic vindicated

1145

Yesterday’s decision by the SFA’s Judicial Panel, which ruled that Josh Meekings could not be subject to retrospective action as the referee saw the contentious incident on Sunday contradicted the initial official version of events, and totally vindicated Celtic asking for clarification of the incident.

I’ve not had a chance to read through all the apologies from those who used their platforms to criticise the club, but I’ll set aside an hour to do so later.  Keep an eye on the very personal attacks on Peter Lawwell.  There are people at Hampden who don’t like his influence.

It’s never good to get ahead of yourself, and it would be foolish to assume too much ahead of our visit to Tannadice tomorrow, but I hope the Highlanders take a point against Aberdeen today.  Winning the title would be a great way to start a holiday weekend.

Loving the narrative coming out of Ibox at the moment.  It appears they haven’t even applied for membership of the ISDX yet as they haven’t found an advisor yet.  I assume that’s the fault of the Easdales.  Or the BBC.  Or Celtic.  Or maybe it’s the Pope of Rome!

What a shower.  You know how this story ends….

  1. The degree of cognitive dissonance going on around McLean’s apparent decision that it was not deliberate hand ball after the world and its wean could see that it was would cause heads to explode if they were Worsel Gummidge.

Unbelievably Clyde are now talking about the throw in in 1989. This is shameless

    ————-

Aye. I think if I was a ref and I wanted one of the teams to win I’d give them a throw-in in their own half!

  3. Now Clyde want the referees personality to come throw in games.

Beggar the laws of the game, just let the ref run the game as he sees fit!

I don’t expect any favours from any of them. We will need to up our game and start taking our chances AND cut out the crap corners & free kicks which have cost us in the last two games.

  5. I have already said it. I am not renewing and I will write to celtic and tell them why.

  6. Auldheid this incident and the mess that the SFA have made of it is manna from heaven for us. An opportunity to drive change.

What will celtic do now do you think?

  7. so the summary from huke.

    celtic lost the match themselves.

    feck right off.

wee joe talking shite as well, the game might be boring if referees didnt make mistakes.

The word does now seem to be that it was “accidental handball”. Although everybody seems to say that it WOULD have been a penalty and sending-off if it had been seen at the time!

Even John Hughes said that half an hour ago.

  9. McCall’s right in saying that “Rangers” wouldn’t have sent a letter of complaint.

Have you seen the price of stamps?

Ha ha. Aye, of course. But he does seem to be a lone voice looking for transparency and application of rules. Some of the guff this week has been unbelievable.

I’d keep my powder dry for a bit longer.

I was in a queue at the post office yesterday and the wee wummin behind me mentioned the price of stamps as I was counting out my 62p.

F…..g flabbergasted to be told it was 63p now, have they no shame? Both of us could remember the purple 3p stamps, and the letters got there quicker in those days.

I have no comment on the penny black.

    Two things:

    1. Any just exactly WHO among them could have penned such a letter?

    2. Anyway why would they have needed to worry about a decision like that going against?

  16. Auldheid I hope you are correct. I really really hope you are correct.

Bada bing I think we need to act on our individual conscience on this. It will really kill me not to go. But I feel I have no choice.

  17. theglasgowcelticway on

God are they trying to compare a throw in halfway up the park which Oldco managed to regain possession from and then make a complete a*@e of a pass back with last Sunday’s offence??

Did the officials change their story that day too.

  18. The Green Deila on

Txtd off the ball earlier asking their opinions on whether it was right for sevco supporting refs to be given a wee ayebrokes swansong in their last days on the job. Thought there was a slight chance of it being addressed since they were supposed to be talking about perceived bias by refs against Celtic…..but no….ignored…..still in shocknot

  19. Neganon2

Fight a battle we can win.

Every time we accuse ref’s of bias we lose because it’s unprovable.

What we can suggest is that the shenanigans after we asked for an explanation supports the view SFA not fit for purpose.

Through in more evidence to support that and we can get somewhere.

You and DENA29 gave me the out clause when I said I wasn’t going back. I’m so grateful for that.

    IMO,if you can,support the team.

Registering protest on other things is correct, but support the team-and if possible from a seat inside the tent.

Easy for me to say as I only have to watch us being cheated live about five times a year, mind…

  21. Listening to the p**h that they were all unsighted is actually treating us with contempt..a right get it up you Timmy.

The more I hear it and the smirking from huns is pissing me off…grow some Celtic, get it nailed, they can only bend so much to accommodate a hurting hunchback polyester wearing hun tribe. Surely!

“Inverness officials are frantically calling the Scottish FA after spotting that Josh Meekings’ name is on the parent body’s list of suspensions for today. The club think the defender is not banned for the match against Aberdeen.”

Maybe they could play him in goal and see if anyone notices …

If I’d told her the price of a pint of Guinness, she might have taken it as a chat up line.

No point in cheap beer if you have to buy two give one away.

  29. German newspaper Bild is today linking Celtic with an ambitious move for Duth international Rafael Van Der Vaart.

The Dutchman, with 109 international caps to his name, is out of contract this summer and Bild believe that Celtic are leading the chase for his signature.

The attacking midfielder has enjoyed a glittering international career which has seen him play at two World Cups and three European Championships, while only a late injury forced him out of the 2014 World Cup.

At club level he has amassed transfer fees of just shy of £40million while turning out for Ajax, Hamburg, Real Madrid and Tottenham.

Van der Vaart impressed for Tottenham during his time in the English Premier League

In 2012 Van Der Vaart returned to Hamburg, the team he left for Real Madrid in 2008 and since his return to Germany he has netted an impressive 21 goals in 83 appearances.

Celtic boss Ronny Deila already has a number of options in attacking midfield with January signings Gary Mackay -Steven and Stuart Armstrong competing with the likes of Kris Commons, Stefan Johansen and James Forrest, however, the attraction of a player with the ability and experience of Van Der Vaart appears to have proven too strong for Hoops boss Ronny Deila.

  30. Good Afternoon. I would be happy to trade refereeing mistakes with any other team in Scotland. There are much more that are not in our favour. The stage in the game is also a factor – getting a soft penalty when 2 or 3 up is incidental. I read an article in the Herald many years ago – Some Glasgow Uni students had analysed newspaper reports from Celtic/Rangers games and found that there were 4 times as many honest mistakes that went against Celtic. Not sure which newspapers they used – if Scottish papers it would not have been a balanced sample – even more damning.

Mclean and Fleming should both go.

I don’t think we can count on Inverness to do much against Aberdeen, we need to take care of business ourselves. HH
