INTER MILAN new boy Xherdan Shaqiri has warned Celtic: “I am hungry for success.”

The Swiss star has joined the Hoops’ Europa League rivals from Bayern Munich and admitted he is raring to go.

Shaqiri, 23, signed a deal which will keep him at the San Siro giants until 2019 and said: “I can’t wait to get started.

“I had offers from England and Germany, but my wish was to join Inter.

“Juventus was also an option, but I wanted Inter.

“I spoke to Inter coach Roberto Mancini and he explained the project to me and it really had an impact.”

Shaqiri joined Bayern from Basle in 2012 and won two Bundesliga medals and the 2013 Champions League, but he struggled to establish himself.

He added: “I wasn’t totally happy at Bayern. I didn’t have much playing time.

“I need to play consistently in order to prove how much I’m worth.

“I am hungry for success. I can’t wait to get started.

“My aim is to help Inter return to be at the top in Italy and in Europe.”

Shaqiri could make his Inter debut on Saturday when Inter, currently ninth in the Serie A, face Empoli in Tuscany.

Celtic face their old rivals in the last 32 of the Europa League next month.
