CELTIC are keeping tabs on Barnsley’s Irish midfielder Conor Hourihane.

The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 star, now 25, is out of contract at the end of the season.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is believed to have ordered scouting reports on the Cork-born player.

Hourihane hit 14 goals in his first season for Barnsley after his £210,000 move from Plymouth Argyle in July 2014. He notched 11 in the last campaign.

He has claimed three this time out after being appointed skipper of the Championship side.

The attacking playmaker started his career at Sunderland in July 2010 before before being released and snapped up by Ipswich a year later.
