There are probably a dozen important metrics to measure Celtic’s health: total revenue, commercial revenue, merchandising sales, trophies, European progress, but the most important long term indicator of the club’s health is the is demand for season tickets, which not only sold out this week, but did so in record time.
Three years ago, the upper tier of the Lisbon Lions stand was covered in advertising tarpaulin. Brendan Rodgers’ arrival changed that, but his departure changed nothing. Now, the task for Celtic, is to keep the kettle boiling without the perma-tanned one.
My suspicion is, there is going to be an intensity about the next two seasons as Nine and Ten come into focus. These will be leagues for the ages, we all want to be there.
But the football business is never simple, even if the next two seasons go to plan. Football does not stop at Ten, but getting there changes everything.
Alexander the Great wept when there were no more worlds to conquer. 11, 12 or whatever-in-a-row would all be just another season for Celtic fans, what number do we chase with any conviction then? This is very much a First World problem, can you imagine how losing the next two leagues to Celtic will affect our supposed rivals?
Celtic the Great will weep at having no more records to chase, but, goodness, the bitter realisation of historic and perhaps permanent failure – knowing the best you can hope for is second to Celtic – that will threaten the viability of some.
I’m enjoying these times. Every minute of them. You have a good weekend.

Erm, can we just fixate on 9 first please?
Celtic the Great that has a certain ring to it.
Just 4 days till youngest daughter returns from Oz for an extended break. House is stinking of fresh paint and the garden has had a wee make over. All to impress daughters partner. A nice guy who has been converted to the hoops, his no one sport is Basketball and his fav team Boston Celtics so he was an easy convert really.
Still lots of rumours abound about who we are going for and as usual it all getting a bit boring. The crazy part of it being that it will only get worse as the Hun media haven’t really got started yet.
Well better get go, grass needs cut, again.
Be nice to get to 55 league titles just to absolutely destroy the last fragment of any sort of fantasy record of the dead club..13 in a row had a nice ring to it
I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion….Swallexander the Greetinface ;-))

While it’s true that 10 or more in a row will render them incandescent , I’m not so sure that anything will ever effect their viability.
Sadly.
San Luis…9 is on the horizon…but am looking beyond it…

Further evidence that Celtic’s business plan is to stay ahead of Rangers, and only just. You know how this ends.
Dammit…should have quoted Swallexander the Grate…?

What was the nature of the most recent question asked of the SFA?
=====
Details will be posted in Res12 Archive once SFA have been given reasonable time to respond as answer might explain the situation.

You dont know how I think. Hope for the best in folk, be ready for the worst.
Lurking Tim?
It’s that kind of thinking that can be self fulfilling.
If nothing comes of item it’s because the values that I think matter dont.

Titles are baubles against which values can be measured.
“Celtic will weep” I thought might be the preface for a leader on the acceleration away from league to cartel in European football?
But no, it’s one one from our own casino and floating pitch collection.
There is EVERYTHING to play for.
A couple of seasons ago, we anticipated 4 or 5 to nil every time against the FOD. So did they. They were grateful for 3-0. This last season there was parity, on the pitch and in the points shared.
With so many incomers, they have little collective memory and consequent fear of drubbings and domination. Add to this their fans’ WATP entitled expectancy and MSM and MIBs. And a CEO who may still be a figure of fun for some, but who continues to oversee a Klub whose spending is unencumbered by pesky financial regulations.
They’ve added some good talent to their squad from Scottish rivals while we thus far have window shopped in Scotland and England’s Goldbergs and What Every’s
Their 1IAR (God forbid!) would be celebrated just as much as our own. It’s 10 or nothing. And for that reason, we need to go all out for no9 as never before.
Several good signings and an attitude that views every game as vital should see us through. Less than that, we’ll fall on our arse, hoist on our own petard (for those fans of martial phraseology)

Are you putting yourself forward for the job as patron saint of the “Green Hun” segment of the support — Is it a case of Hybris vs Hubris?
Great that the SPL tickets have been sold out very quickly — but what about the CL Crapshoot? Will anyone want to go to these games if they are now second class?
The 9 / 10 IAR is becoming a zoo for the Bronskis. Some people will put up with tripe on the park all 38 games of the season as long as they win the pot at the end of it — sad really, we should be aiming much higher than this.
They are the same people that do down Scottish teams and Scottish players at every opportunity yet are desperate to be king of their own little dung hill — all of this aids the TFOD2.1 haters in the support at the expense of the CFC football supporters.
And then we have your style of dealing with the issue.
You are old enough to know better — 1975 must have hurt you at the time.
One league at a time is good fishing.
The CL is the real competition.

Wake up and smell the coffee
Can’t you you see the downsizing ?
I blame Peter Lawwell and his old firm agenda.
Celtic winning 10iar is no forgone conclusion.
But I love the thought of sevco going bust trying to stop it
Which they will!!
Madmitch…it’s really not a question of how we do 9…if we get it will you say it’s been a shitey season…

‘Ernie

Fair enough.
But, if at the outset you have a fair idea, or even a suspicion, about how things might turn out, (and others are suggesting from the start that you are on a fools errand), how long can you leave it for your hope to remain unsatisfied before it begins to look like you may unwittingly have been used as a useful idiot by those you are dealing with?

Great that we now have plans for a full sized indoor pitch.
It will be a huge improvement over the current set up — the 40M x 30M school gym at L/Town.
Could this actually be one of the reasons why we are so poor at corners? Not big enough to include the full penalty area so we never train to attack the back post from the opposite side?
The proposed plans look very basic — I do appreciate that these are only Phase 1A and 1B of a bigger plan but it all looks a bit thin.
If the plan is to try and take the youth teams forward and give them some publicity then the level of facilities at B/Field needs to be hugely expanded to cater for the extra crowds and greater spend that an indoor pitch will bring. Pretty basic stuff but it needs to be planned for now so that it is available at the launch of the new facilities and not 12 months after.
The whole exercise has huge potential.
Not sure when the age group / youth team are currently played but 10am / 12 noon on a Saturday before a league game would bring people to the CP area early to watch a game in progress.
If we have a 60K crowd — it only takes an “anorak” ratio of 5% in the support to bring 3K people to B/Field to watch the games. And then you have the friends and family / the two men and a dog who normally watch these games who would still have to be accommodated.
Hopefully we have plans for seating at the indoor pitch — the CGI shows 3 rows which will not be enough. Plus you have the seating next the 2 outdoor pitches that will be refurbished.
The missing link would appear to be a large cafe / food and drink provision.
If we wait to Phase 2 then we will have missed out on substantial revenue.
There is such a thing as a free lunch.
Paul’s ‘when’ we get 10 has now changed to ‘if’ we get 10
Are you not as confident as you once were?
People get ready there’s a train a coming
Don’t need no season ticket
Just get on board
So that’s it? Just being ahead of Rangers/”Rangers”?
If there has to be an obsession about consecutive league wins why not show some ambition and target Rosenborg’s 12 or 13?
No wonder Rodgers didn’t stick around!
!!bada bing!!
Meanwhile, Australian woman crashes out at Roland Garros!
TLT @ 1.09
It is all about the product / performance on the park.
I want the team to move forward and the football to get better.
I will leave the trainspotter tendency in the support to do the counting.
This season it was great to win the league and to complete the treble.
But once the euphoria had subsided you were faced with the reality that we played very poorly at times, 93 minutes of stodge then a last gasp winner and in reality it was football to stun pigs with — so what should we aim for next season?
We need to want people to go to games — it should be a joy and not a duty. The empty seat count next season will tell us how well we are playing in the league all too forcefully.

If January 2009 didn’t show the folly of that, nothing will, sadly.

I don’t think you will hear “Old Firm” mentioned by PL or anyone else at the club. Neil has mentioned the term in the past but I think you will not here it again.
Commercial alliances are also out when recently we shared Tennents, CRSmith etc. I think Celtic will never cooperate with them again.
The club has mentioned that their Budgets depend on our club alone and on no other club.
Hear not here
Sorry
