Celtic will weep

502

There are probably a dozen important metrics to measure Celtic’s health: total revenue, commercial revenue, merchandising sales, trophies, European progress, but the most important long term indicator of the club’s health is the is demand for season tickets, which not only sold out this week, but did so in record time.

Three years ago, the upper tier of the Lisbon Lions stand was covered in advertising tarpaulin.  Brendan Rodgers’ arrival changed that, but his departure changed nothing. Now, the task for Celtic, is to keep the kettle boiling without the perma-tanned one.

My suspicion is, there is going to be an intensity about the next two seasons as Nine and Ten come into focus.  These will be leagues for the ages, we all want to be there.

But the football business is never simple, even if the next two seasons go to plan.  Football does not stop at Ten, but getting there changes everything.

Alexander the Great wept when there were no more worlds to conquer.   11, 12 or whatever-in-a-row would all be just another season for Celtic fans, what number do we chase with any conviction then?  This is very much a First World problem, can you imagine how losing the next two leagues to Celtic will affect our supposed rivals?

Celtic the Great will weep at having no more records to chase, but, goodness, the bitter realisation of historic and perhaps permanent failure – knowing the best you can hope for is second to Celtic – that will threaten the viability of some.

I’m enjoying these times.  Every minute of them.  You have a good weekend.

Hello again all you young rebels.

    EDDIEINKIRKMICHAEL

What will our CSC here in Mornington do without our Emma? if ever

anybody defined a true Celtic fan then your daughter would skate that.

Hope she’s not gone too long.

As for her partner? well for someone whose always hooped up every

Celtic day and sings his heart out for every reb song, he’s so loved up

and not just with your daughter but with the whole Celtic experience

and you know what? our Celtic family does that to you, you don’t see

it coming but it permeates your whole being.

    The Celtic family eh?

    Wha’s like us ?

It’s not me and fellow requisitioners alone who might have been played as a fool, it’s all the supporters and shareholders whom we represent and justifiably sought answers.

I’m only a fool if it’s only 4 of us, but what does that say about the wise – and the player?

I knew as soon as Celtic said Res12 was unnecessary in their official response that someone was at it.

That card has still to be played.

I think others might have been played or might even have been willing players, but in either case chucked it.

Mixed evidence on that issue but I could produce a plausible narrative to that effect.

That doesn’t mean its accurate so until there is more to support it, I’ll leave it at that. For now.

It’s more than business whose moral compass is facing the wrong way.

Its government too and why when a ship is heading for the rocks it appoints as captain Trump or Boris or Farage to make sure it doesn’t go off course.

As Paul67 once said to me ” you must be doing something right.” I put that down to my compass that steered me through rocky storms.

  6. Celtic have not signed anyone so far and folk are not happy. I tend to wait till i see what we have at beginning of season before moaning likely f£§k!!! I am sure we will sign a new rightback, centreback, centreback and forward, all of a higher pedigree than any of our domestic challengers.

People wanna talk about klub sevco signing players as if we should be worried or measure ourselves against them. if so, Just like to confirm the guy from killie and a guy from motherwell were not even the best players at those clubs, what they had in common was both cost nothing.

The media wait to link us to all there transfer targets because they want to present a false picture to their readers. one than shows we are in the same market.

The season starts in window closes in august not june.

Not only does Peter Lawwell know full well we’re stand alone he is true champion of it, and recognises Sevco as Rory Bremnerish.

  8. What criteria do you judge on how well things are being run . I personally start with trophies being won, all else is secondary at best.

The Joyless Division judge Celtic the trophies that can’t be won.

Celtic will absolutely sign 9 or 10. Its a requirement considering those out the door.

De Vries, Lustig, Toljan, Gamboa, Izaguirre, Benkovic, Weah & Burke have already left

Possibly Sinclair, Ntcham, Miller, Morgan, Hendry & Compper to join

I’m all for the retro look, in fact I think I might have the original, but where is the definition? Countries like Australia and South Africa use similar colours but to far greater effect.

As for the first team strip, if I want to look like a Top Shop catalogue model from the 1970’s I might decide to wear it, apart from that a complete no no. Surely there are some designers out there with some kind of Scottish-Irish-Celtic background? Doesn’t look like it from the evidence in front of us.

    Hi Guys, Salve salve;-

Now that all the season tickets have sold out , I feel as someone who is neither a season ticket holder or shareholder I can now have my tuppence worth. I wish Neil Lennon all the best in his new position but fear the outcome may be disastrous. I think at best you will get football to stun pigs by and a massive degradation of fitness levels. The esteem in which Peter the bonus eater and his mustacheod compadre hold the football department is evidenced by the fact they offered Lenny the job in the shower, (or so I’m led to believe), If true then they should have gone the whole hog and waited until he was about to take a dump and slipped the contract under the cubicle door.

The absolute first order of business for the new manager should be to sign up a new and highly competent head of performance as fitness levels are vital in the modern game. If anyone is telling me that a man who took £3 . 5 Mil. out of the club last season could not find a proven tactically aware manager with good personnel skills then I would say that money should be handed back.

I’m very much afraid that if I was a season ticket holder, I would be returning mine and demanding a refund.

I hope I have got it all entirely wrong and I will readily eat a BFDJ size slice of humble pie at season’s end.

In the meantime prepare for a season of a team packed with Lenny’s favourites and a squad riven with division as a result.
